Cold medicines are a group of medications taken individually or in combination as a treatment for the symptoms of the common cold and similar conditions of the upper respiratory tract. The term encompasses a broad array of drugs, including analgesics, antihistamines and decongestants, among many others. It also includes drugs which are marketed as cough suppressants or antitussives, but their effectiveness in reducing cough symptoms is unclear or minimal.[1][2]...

Can bioflu which contains phenylephrine hcl, chlorphenamine maleate and paracetamol be taken together with robitussin dm which contains dextromethorphan hbr and guaifenesin? Please reply. Thank you so much for your help. ## HI, though they have different ingredients, you would essentially still be doubling up on the same types of medications, so no you most likely shouldn't take them both, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. Getting too much could cause some problems, such as worsening of the side effects. Additionally, since the Phenylephrine can act like a stimulant, adding it with the Dextromethorphan and the Guaifenesin that cause the opposite effect could be very detrimental. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Can i take robitussin softgel and bioflu at the sa...

I feel I have a glue-like phlegm stuck in my throat for weeks already. I as advised to take antihistamine after which I had dry mouth. I as browsing the internet when I came across blog posts regarding the efficacy of robitussin to cases such as mine. I want to try it but am afraid it would interact with the PPI (omepron for my hyperacidity) whih I am taking. Pls advice. ## The Robitussin LiquiGels contain Dextromethorphan and there are no interactions listed between it and the Omeprazole in the Omepron, however, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be sure. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dry mouth and drowsiness. Read more: Are there any other comments or questions?

Can you take robitussin and bromfed together? My 9 yr old has a cough that won't stop.....even after taking bromfed. ## How is your soon doing? Has there been any change? It would be best not to add more medications, without his doctor's approval, especially since he is so young. Additionally, Bromfed is an antihistamine that is used to treat allergies, according to the FDA, so it will not do anything to help alleviate a cough.

I developed a cough/sneeze and want to know if I can take Amoxicillin (500mg) and Robitussin DM together? ## What are the specific ingredients of the Robitussin that you are taking? Can you please post back and clarify? I'm sorry, but I need this information in order to accurately answer your question. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Amoxicillin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

does cheratussin look niqrathin, or like a syrup ## Cheratussin ac has a thick liquid viscosity. A possible comparison is that it's thinner and runs quicker than maple syrup but thicker than fruit juice. That's the best analogy I can put together for it. If you happen to stop by your local pharmacy, just pick up a bottle of Robitussin cough syrup and it's pretty much the same consistency. The inactive ingredients in Cheratussin AC contain: alcohol, caramel, citric acid, FD&C red #40, flavor, glycerin, menthol racemic, purified water, saccharin sodium, sodium benzoate, sorbitol solution ....So it will likely be a light reddish pink color, judging from the Red dye they put in it. You can view the packaging label of Cheratussin AC by following the link below: I hope this in...

Dilaudid cough syrup in the USA and Canada is a scheduled II controlled drug as it has 1 mg of hydromorohone per 5ml of cough solution .. It never was over the counter in the last 50+ yrs... You may be confused with some Meds like robitussin AC which has only 10mg of CODIENE in it per 30ml of syrup and thus is a controlled 5 script and you can sign for it at some states pharmacy counter!! ## I'm not sure who suggested otherwise to you, but Dilaudid Cough Syrup (guaifenesin + hydromorphone) is definitely regarded as a controlled substance - available by prescription-only. Perhaps other countries are more liberal about its presence over the counter, due to the guaifenesin, but at least here in the US it requires a doctor's script (probably because of dilaudid's high potential ...

What can replace Novahistine DMX cough syrup? Nothing helps now since they discontinued this syrup years ago. Taking them individually also doesn't work. DMX helped within 5 minutes. ## When you took them individually, were they in tablet/capsule form, or liquids? Since a cough syrup is liquid, it is normal for it to work fairly fast, but tablets, and capsules tend to take a bit longer to take affect. Novahistine DMX contained Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, and Pseudoephedrine, and this combination is available in a couple other products, as well, such as Robitussin Cough & Cold D, and Maxifed DMX. Your pharmacist should be able to help you find an equivalent. Has your doctor suggested any solutions? However, some combinations over the counter may have changed their active ingre...

small, round and green in color ## This is not something available in the US, so I the only information I can find on it is that it is used to help thin sputum, a cold remedy. ## a/k/a: Robitussin, Benadryl see wikipedia ## IT IS NOT THE SAME THING!! ROBITUSSIN AND BENADRYL IN THE UNITED STATES DO NOT CONTAIN BROMHEXINE HCL, WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT MUCOLITIC, NOT PRODUCED FOR THE US. Please see Wikipedia for a Chemical Formula of Bromhexin HCL... It is so sad that US pharmacists push for Robitussin and other products like Guaifenesin, which is a very ineffective mucolitic. And the antihistamines are not always the best answer. And the cough blockers are actually doing more harm than good. It is best to fluidify the mucus and expectorate it.

Does anyone out there have a problem with this drug and teenagers popping these to feel high? My son almost killed himself on June 2nd, 2007. He took a whole box of these and drove a vehicle. They put a limit on sudafed, why not these pills? ## These pills contain DXM which is highly abusable by teenagers. However, coricidin contains other active ingredients which are lethal in high doses however DXM is not very much so. I used to be addicted to these activities. I would take a whole bottle of robitussin cough gels and have a great night. It is called robo-tripping and has similar effects to ketamine and magic mushrooms. Sudafed however does not contain DXM, and many people aren't going to disregard the warnings on pill bottles.
