Stuffy nose

I find after I take Bromfed DM I start coughing more. When I don't take any after 6pm I sleep fine with no coughing. I have not been taking the 5mg 4 times a day. ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. That's unusual, since the Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. However, since you're laying down, when it happens, it may be due to the Pseudoephedrine in it loosening the nasal congestion, which may be draining down your throat causing the coughing. Have you consulted your doctor? You may be able to change the time you take it, or just go to 3 times a day. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. ## Thank you so much for getting back to me. I took your advice and ...

i gave my 13 yr old son allergra d at 10:30 this morning now its 11pm hes really not better he has the runny nose and a cough id like to give him a teaspoon of bromfed if i can so that he rest better, can i? ## Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Allegra-D (Fexofenadine + Pseudoephedrine) and Bromfed (Brompheniramine + Phenylephrine); deeming them safe to take together. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. I hope this helps to answer your question! ## Not correct. Bromfed also has pseudoephedrine. If you take that with Allegra-D you are taking 2 antihistamines and a double dose of pseudoephedrine. It wouldn...

Expiration date on bromfed and notice to discard

Hello, I was just curious if I could still take the bromfed if it says to discard by 09/13/17? ## I was just trying to see can I take this medication Bromfed dm syp if use by 5/18/17 and this is August 20th ## @Bella, Today's date is Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. So based on the contents of your post, you should still be in the clear to take it for another week. @Jplove, Since it has been several months past the "use by" date, I think it's probably best to adhere to the label's instructions. And while I understand that many medications are generally regarded as safe to take well after the expiration date, I also feel that it's important to consume the freshest batches of whatever it is you're taking in order to maximize efficacy and to ensure that none of t...

medication and serum alcohol test

Can an individual have a positive serum alcohol when taking Bromfed DM? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Yes, they can. Bromfed DM is actually listed as containing 0.95% alcohol, as reported by the FDA. That may not seem like a lot, but if someone is taking it regularly, or took it close to the time their serum alcohol was tested, it could result in a positive result. Is there anything else I can help with?

Bromfed refrigerated

Can bromfed be kept in the refrigerator? ## Hello, Novia! How are you? Actually the instructions say it should be stored at room temperature. Some liquid medications contain ingredients that may change, if it gets too cold, so it would be best to keep it out of the fridge and away from other extreme temperatures. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of appetite and anxiety. Is there anything else I can help with?
