i was told this was a muscle relaxer its white pill with gp 400 ## I located the white pill in description to be Magnesium oxide (400 mg). Suspensions of magnesium hydroxide in water (milk of magnesia) are used as an antacid to neutralize stomach acid, and as a laxative. Also being that it is classified under minerals and electrolytes, it may help aid in muscle relaxation; but I cannot personally confirm that. This is an over the counter tablet manufactured by Allegiant Health and many others (NDC 69168-330), and they list it as containing 400mgs of Guaifenesin. It is an expectorant used to treat congestion caused by cold, flu, or allergies. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. I have been taking 25 mg metoprolol and 400 mg magnesium oxide for atrial fibrillation for about a month. Over a week later a bad rash developed on both hands and one hand is red and puffy. Got off the mag oxide since I thought that was what caused it, but the side effects have gotten worse. I can't stand the itching. Afraid to go off both meds, my doc has not been much help and I feel confused. I never took any pills before this. I am 69 years of age.
