I've been taking Tecta for more than one year, have been experiencing weight gain, bloating, sugar cravings, and having hip pain. Also, my overactive bladder seems to have worsened. I didn't have any problems when taking Zantac, but was switched by my doctor to Tecta. Can this medication be stopped abruptly, or will I need to taper off it? ## Always taper off ... I know someone who was told by his family doc to cut his pills in half for a week and take half the dose before stopping completely. ## Joyce, Tecta contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, it is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers, and gastritis. Usually, there is no need to taper, but when you stop you may experie...

Child found pill on floor of local sports center. Was wondering what it was likely to be? Small, white, round pill. Score mark on one side. R75 on other side. ## Sounds like generic ZANTAC - Ranitidine- for heartburn. ## The pill most likely has a K not an R on it. If found in gym its most likely a K75. Small round and white. Its an amphetamine

I lost my sense of taste a few weeks ago. Mostly sweets. It comes back sometimes but always goes back out. I also have a sore throat and phlegm. Smell appears fine. The doctor thinks I may have GERD because of the throat issues and I do burp a lot. When I do burp there is no taste to it like heartburn but he says that there doesn't have to be. I took my first pill today and today was a decent tasting day. Within four hours of taking the pill my taste was gone again. I how this is a coincidence. I had tried 75 mg of Zantac before and didn't see a difference either way. Could taking the Tecta be making my taste worse if my issue is in fact not gerd? Also can it cause constipation? Antibiotics for example give me severe constipation. I'm starting to get very depressed with the ...

(Reuters) - CVS Health Corp said on Saturday it will discontinue sales on the popular Zantac heartburn treatment and its own generic ranitidine products from its pharmacies after traces of a known carcinogen were found in some of the products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA said earlier this month that some of the pills contained small amounts N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), which has also been found in some widely used blood pressure medicines, leading to shortages of those drugs. CVS said the move to suspend sales of the over-the-counter heartburn drug was taken out of caution while the FDA continues to review if low levels of NDMA in ranitidine - the active ingredient in Zantac - poses a health risk to patients. "Zantac brand products and CVS brand ranitidine pro...

I'm taking zantac, protonix and a weight loss drug called clk. ## Hi alexis, I was unable to locate any specific details on zantac or protonix being known for causing a false positive on alcohol. However, what I did find was that Zantac (ranitidine) may test positive for methamphetamines & that Pantoprazole (Protonix) may test false positive for THC. I'm not sure of the abbreviation used for the weight loss drug you also mentioned in your description; so if you could clarify that, it'll be good opportunity to find another match for this false positive. Thanks! ## I have an ankle monitor for alcohol and I've tested positive and have not drank? Can you tell me of any other cause? ## I'm taking prescribed 10mg oxycodone. I just had ankle surgery. They covered my leg...

They are called "Cool mint" Zantac. you can google to see a picture of the cool mint Zantac package and it shows a picture of the pill on the front. I think this is what you found. Hope this helps ## Yes, this is a 150mg Zantac tablet, which contains the active ingredient Ranitidine, it is used to treat, or prevent ulcers, heartburn, gastritis, and GERD. It is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim. It is available via prescription and over the counter. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including naus...

I've been taking Tecta for over a year, am bloated, gaining weight, craving sugar, experiencing hip pain. Also have an overactive bladder and this seems to be worse. Was taking Zantac with no trouble but doctor changed me to Tecta. Can I just stop taking tecta or must I wean off it? ## There is nothing that should require you to taper this medication, since it is just a proton pump inhibitor that is used to treat, or prevent conditions such as GERD, ulcers, and gastritis. The FDA does list these issues as being among its possibly side effects, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, and diarrhea. What reason did your doctor give for changing your medication?

I found an oblong orange pill marked with M 126 that was put in with my zantac 1mg. What is it used for? ## Is the marking possibly H 126? If so, the tablet is manufactured by Camber Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 40mgs of Pantoprazole, which is also used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, but it is not the same as Zantac. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, and flatulence. Have you informed your pharmacy of this issue?

Yesterday I had heart burning and found difficult to eat, however I was hungry and ate bread with salami. Since morning there after I have no heart burning but a very mild pain or heaviness in the center of my stomach just at the center of my lungs from where they start curving. This is accompanied by sensation of vomiting resulting in huge saliva formation but the vomit does not come. I have taken Eno, zantac, and pantocid D but seems to have little relief though the saliva formation and the feeling of vomiting has stopped but have a feeling of half stuck burp. I also smoke and hope that it has nothing to do with these symptoms. I also had a beer day before and have a history of inreased triglycride with beer. ## Hi, Tushar! Hi, this happened to me last december. My period was already late by 1 month didn't take pt yet, then I got sick one day as in really sick that my stomach really aches plus vomiting, headache and high fever. My mom gave me bioflu and zantac and let me drink it at one time, morning and then evening and then after two days i had severe abdominal pain, then back pain and i bled (not the normal blood girls get every period) and my lower back is really painful. And it's not the normal flow and then after 3 days, i got my period, the normal period we get and it lasted for 5 days. That's why i know it's the period and not what i had 2 days after i took the meds. I just wanna ask does it mean i had a miscarriage? Because it slips on my mind that i MIGHT'VE been pregnant when...

## If you want the answer to the false readings that Zantac gives on drug panels, all that you have to do is call the company that makes Zantac. Boehringer Ingelheim, phone number (203)-798-9988. I just Talked to a man named Ed, who connected me to the company nurse that told me, yes, Zantac causes false readings for amphetamine. She also told me, that she has to report all complaints to the FDA. What this means, that if enough people call in and complain, then maybe the FDA will force the company to put a warning label on the box. Good luck. Respectfully, Andy

small octagon shape with line on one side and design on other ## what is the imprint on the pill? ## Yes, we definitely need the imprint if you want to know what it is, I mean I can make a random stab and say it sounds like over the counter Zantac, but I cannot say that with any certainty without knowing the imprint or what they symbol is, so please respond with whatever information you can. What pill is pink in color, triangular in shape, and has a Z on one side? ## Hello, I realize this thread is more than a few years dated... but if you haven't been able to ID it yet, I'd be curious to know if there are any other imprints on the tablet besides the "Z" on one side? I only ask because I came across a couple very close matches online that would otherwise fit your description, aside from having another number embedded on the other side. (For example: if there is a "75" on the other side, it could be Zantac 75mg). However, I'm just not seeing anything with a "Z" only. Is this something you found locally or bought from overseas perhaps? Looking forward to hearing back from you if you're still subscribed to this thread.

I have been experiencing a lot of heartburn in the past few months. I was quite concerned since I had a silent heart attack 2 years ago, and really had no symptoms nor any risk factors at the time .... So now I am worried every time I feel anything out of the ordinary. When I asked my doctor if it could be acid reflux, she said probably and gave me a 2 week sample of Tecta. I only took a few and stopped because I am going on holiday in a few days and don't want to experience any possible side effects. My big question is ... Could Tecta NOT be good if you have a heart condition? I read it could cause heart palpitations and so I am obviously concerned and wonder why my GP gave it to me. Or is it OK to take and that is why she gave it to me? My heartburn is still a problem. My husband ...

I used to drink a lot of alcohol. Everytime I was drinking for too many days, there was nausea, tachycardia, feeling heart beats all over my abdomen while resting and loss of appetite, so I assumed taking zantac would cause these symptoms to go away earlier while I'll quit alcohol for a few days to make sure they will. So, two days ago I started taking the pills. I took the first one along with one bottle of whiskey, and then new symptoms started instead of the old ones to go away: I have stomach pain in certain spots. I never knew stomach could cause pain only in a little spot, like it's a blade. The pain was mainly underNEATH my left rib cage and right in the diaphragm, but it would occassionally travel to other certain little spots of my abdomen too, as well as the left side ...
