It is similar to a vitamin, which cannot be patented or trademarked either, for the same reasons. Something can only be patented/trademarked when it is, in some way, unique. Hi. I started Angelique 2 weeks ago. My last period was in Nov 2012. At the moment I am getting terrible headaches, Anxiousness, Heart Palpitations and like period pains by my ovaries. Do I need to take Angelique with meals or at certain time of the day? ## No, not necessarily, but taking it will food may help minimize some of the side effects it can cause, such as nausea and dizziness. And you should try to take it around the same time each day, basically keeping each dose as close to 24 hours apart as possible. Are there any other questions I can help with? I get nauseous when using hrt. Been on Angeliq for months and now nausea is starting again. Can i take Angeliq on alternate days to relieve nausea or is it unsafe to do that? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? No, it wouldn't be unsafe, so you can do that, as long as your doctor approves. Other side effects may include dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. Hi. Please help. Basically which 1 has the least side effects for migraine like headaches, flu like symptoms, anger/irritability, weightgain, breast cancer. Which hrt is better/better tolerated/more popular and most importantly safer. My Aunty had breast cancer in both breasts, mastectomy. I had melanoma 5yrs ago, got 6.3 cholesterol. Angeliq contains Estradiol and Drospirenone, so as an HRT is fairly new to the market and there aren't any generic versions available. The only advice I can really give is to talk to your doctor about the fact that the medication is too expensive and see what your other options are. I was on Angeliq 1/2 for 7 weeks and it was fantastic. My sweats had gone and I felt good and my aches and pains felt better. I then got a bad chest infection and fatigue set in. I am just not sure if it is the flu or the Angeliq that has caused the extreme fatigue I am now suffering. Would Angeliq cause fatigue 7 weeks into taking it? I have stopped it to see how I go. ## I am not a doctor, but my best guest would be that the fatigue is most likely due to the flu, or whatever viral illness you are suffering. My hair is falling out but the handful. . I am on a lot of medication for ankalosing Spondylitis including Enbrel and methotrexate. . I started the Enbrel and the Angelique at about the same time and don't know what is causing this sudden hair loss. . It's a huge amount of hair so I am very confused concerned ## It might be due to the Methotrexate, the NIH does list hair loss as a possible side effect of it, along with nausea, loss of libido, nausea, and dehydration. I had a pre mature menopause at the age of 29. I have ever since been on ageliq. I sm on treatment for SLE. Dr advised me to stop angeliq. My blood results also showed that my estrogen levels extremely high. I stopped. But feel awful. Bad headache. Will i gain weight after leaving angeliq. Is it best to rather carry on with a tablet every second day?

I've been on them for about four years, with no known side effects. However, my doctor told me to stop them now. I sometimes take one, every other day. He said to do this for a month, then quit altogether. Sometimes I'm skipping two days. This is my second week. I'm bleeding off and on. I've had a recurring headache for about three days and now nausea. I can't tell if I have a bug or if it's side effects. Certain smells are making my nausea worse, sort of like morning sickness felt many years ago. I'm 53, post menopausal and my hormone levels were checked and all very, very low - I've been taking bio-identical hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) since July but today my dr put me on Angeliq. Wondering what others think? ## My doctor just gave me angeliq also. I notice it decreases testosterone...yuk! I like testos. Any comments? ## My circumstances are very similar to yours and I was also put onto Angelic. My body also seemed not to absorb that !! I recently had to have surgery to remove a ovary and tube but in the end they removed both oavaries and both tubes. Lovely menopause as soon as I'm discharged. Doctor prescribed Angeliq. I didn't feel bad before taking it just had some major hot flashes I actually felt great. I've been on Angeliq one week and feel like crap! My hands and feet are puffy and swollen, killer headaches and joint pain in my back and legs. Should I give it more time to work? Right now I'm ready to call my doc and say enough. This is gonna get expensive trying to find one that works. Mine is temporary as in 3 months she's going back in to take the uterus and cervix. She didn't during the first surgery because they needed to wait in pathology. Anyone else have these issues with Angeliq? ...

Hello, I was told by my pharmacist today that my prescription of Angeliq was unable to be filled because of production problems. I would be grateful for any news on this. ## Same problem in the UK. I could only get one month's supply. I had a 6 month prescription, only got 6 weeks worth of tablets left and I’m worried I’ll have to change to another HRT. I have tried other HRTs before and had very bad side effects with them. Have been on Angeliq for 7 months now and feel great on it. The thought of stopping or changes scares me. I have emailed the manufacturer but have had no reply yet. ## Have now recieved Angeliq, smaller pharmacy was able to supply them as opposed to Boots etc

Hi,will angelique cause my BP to be lowered . I always has high BP but now since i started on Angelique ,my BP is low.Does it also cause stomach cramps , headaces and weeling weak. There is a chance that it may help to lower your blood pressure, because some blood pressure issues can be caused or aggravated by a hormonal imbalance. Thus, rectifying the hormonal imbalance also helps to correct the blood pressure problem. And yes, it can cause side effects like that, you may also experience acne, moodiness and weight gain. However, I don't know if there is a substitute there. Have you asked your doctor or pharmacist/chemist?

I am on my second month of taking Angelique and have started bleeding like a dark discharge. Also quite emotional all the time. The only reason I wanted to go on this was because of my hot flushes. How long does it take to wean off angelique? I have been on it for ten years and my estrogen is apparently very high. My doctor said to just stop. I am on metagenics licorice plus. ## Hello, Libby! How are you? If your doctor said you should just stop taking it, then you should follow their instructions. There is really no need to taper, especially if your estrogen is high, as you won't likely have any severe withdrawal effects, according to the NIH. Are you on any other medications?

I started second packet of Angeliq and after taking the second tablet on the 30, I started with a brown discharge and then started bleeding, not hugely but everyday since. Is this normal, will it eventually stop? Not sure what to do. ## This is a hormonal product and it can be normal to experience such side effects for the first 3 months of use, while your body adjusts to it. However, have you consulted your doctor about it?

Side effects of hormone replacement/birth control pills can vary on an individual basis, since everyone is different. Some common side effects of Estradiol + Drospirenone may include: "Back pain; breast tenderness, pain, or enlargement; headache; mild hair loss; nausea; nervousness; stomach cramps, bloating, or pain; vaginal spotting or breakthrough bleeding; vomiting; weight changes." More serious side effects such as severe allergic reactions, severe pain in random places, random bleeding, etc.. should be reported to your doctor immediately. I hope this helps!

I am 54 and my doctor prescribed Angeliq for atrophic vaginitus. Other non-systemic topical treatments were ineffective. I have been on it for 6 days and my main side effects are interrupted sleep and a mild headache. How long does it usually take for side effects to subside if they do subside at all? ## Generally, about 4 weeks or so, they should improve and subside, once your body gets used to the medication.
