so so many of us accidental junkies are going through the same night and day horrors...so far after looking for four years I have only heard of one person to wean off naturally "SO BLESSED" but it took her six months and she had a wonderful support system, my best fellow sufferer

Debra, The only reason I posted to your cry for help was that I wanted you to know there is a way out but it is hard. When I started on this forum I just like you got caught up in everyone elses drug use and found NO support at all. There is so much drama on here. I just wanted you to know that you can do this! Don't substitute one drug for another. As you said you just get addicted to that too. Your body needs a chance to catch up and it will. It is just going to take some time. Slowly wean off the clonazepan. You are in no hurry. You need to give your body time to adjust and it will. Take your time and don't plan on doing much until you are better. Try to find someone to help you, a friend, a relative, just someone to give you some support. Sleep when you can. I know this is hard. It is the hardest thing I have ever done. There were days I thought I was going crazy. That is what this drug does to you. I found that being on it made things worse and getting off was really bad. Every sympton you have is probably the drug in one way or another. It really messes with your head and your body. Just keep telling yourself that every day is one day closer to feeling normal again. I know exactly what you mean by feeling normal. I hope I was of some help and inspiration to you. Believe me I have been through everything you are describing and there is a light at the end of this long journey. One thing I did also was I journaled my every day happenings. That way I could look back and see where I was and how I was progressing! Praying for strength for you and patience as you go through this! Sincerely Blessings!

Hi Newhandle~There is not much you can do for the restless legs except watch your caffeine intake and watch what you eat before you try to go to sleep. I NEVER had a problem with restless legs until I quit taking the Clonazepan. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Especially exercising. I do not recommend the Benedryl either, your body has to find sleep again on it's own. It will, I promise you. It is just going to take awhile. Waiting is awful but when you find yourself finally sleeping it feels like such a miracle! Once you get a good nights sleep you may not get another one for awhile. Your brain has been used to the medicine telling it what to do and your body has to reset itself and this could take awhile! Be patient! I went through the same thing and came out of it never to go back to that ever again!

Hi Millie,

Just wondering if you ever got off the Klonopin and how.
I also was prescribed.50 and then went up to .75. I have
to also forgive the holistic doctor who prescribed this to me-he told me a small dose is nothing and now its years later and Im still on it.

First of all I did not tell anyone to grow up, however with your hostile attitude it seems you must be having issues with BENZO side effects... I am sorry for that.
BENZOS ARE ADDICTIVE. WHY do you think this site exists??? It is for those accidental ADDICTS of BENZOS

You mentioned you knew patients, so I thought you might have some additional insight. Xanax & Benzo's can kill, its a little dirty secret about this class of drug. Sure people can overdose but I was speaking about passing away during withdrawal, plus I hadn't experienced a seizure yet when I walked into the E.R. the doctor was freaked out as I was in "Walking Critical" condition, failed all the vital statistics and tests, aside from the C/T scanner like that would find anything?

Andi knows whats up. I hve been on 2mg three xs a day of clonasapm generic for klonopin for Two years now. I have been told by dr.s that ist is harder to get off of this medication than xanax. I have been through several withdrawls on benzos including xanax, Klonopin was worse and believe me it is extremly dangerous to ween off of let alone go cold turkey. Side effects are seizuers, rapid weight loss and extreme anxiety. It can cause other health problems. If one has a heart problem withdrawls from benzos can be fatal. There are some arguments about what is worse a opiate withdrawl or a benzo withdrawl. Unfortunatly, I been through both. Benzos are worse and most DR's/ ER's would agree. Someone stole my medication /klonopin and methodone and my dr. would not refill till next visit. I was bed ridden for 7days and vomiting so much that *I almost died/ affixation getting vomit into my lungs. I luckly got some bit of my medication back. Still I was up straight for 2 weeks plus losing my job. Opiate withdrawl makes you feel like your going to die but getting through it is possiable if you don't kill yourself why while in withdrawls. Seriously. Car accidents, confusion, and severe depression. Now a days you need a GOOD DR. cause of all these PILL MILLS. I hve three bulging disk in my neck and moderate to severe scolioses and document aniety disorder manafest. Most DR's in for the money will throw both opiates and benzos at you as long as you keep paying, especially if they have there own pharmacy. Down in west palm beach was insane in 2008. Once the dea raided my dr's office and closed it down. Bam Im f--ked. there were teenagers getting 240 roxys "dea limit" And all they had was a sore back . Just give them a recent mri and you are usually good to go. Also around the same time the Dea stopped the manufactering/distribution of roxy's. Rumor was the whole eastern part of the state was without meds for a month. once again Dr's that write massive amon's of meds and you see there waiting room is packed and looks like everyone is from the hood. There is a problem. They get you hook so much that you have to come back. Finally, I can say I hve been off opiate's with the help of suboxone, for three years, which can also deliver a hefty withdrawl even when I tappered off in one month. Still on klonipin but will never " get behind" take your meds as precribed cause it will come back for you with a vengence. Becareful all. It is usually the people who do not need these meds that screw it up for those that do. Good luck Jay

I'm with depression caused by several factors, perhaps by successive traumas I had in the past, and 4 months behind on this, both related to domestic violence, sexual abuse (when he was 34 years) and mental violence, by my late husband who passed me SDT - all this has destroyed my self esteem and had panic disorder, iMUITA Anxiety, insomnia - FEAR OF SLEEP; feeling of impotence, guilt, and habit of always wanting to serve someone, to things I have, even of Valras and care. My psychiatrist prescribed me 1mg klonopin and fluxiotina 40g (20g was taking, he increased the dose). However, had already taken the drug in 2005, and I told my doctor that Klinopin not felt so good, anyway, he prescribed me. These drugs help in my illnes?

I have been taking 1MG of Klonopin for just about a year now. I have never gone over that what I was supposed to take . I really want to get off of this I have tried to taper by a 1/4 of the .5 mg tablet every few weeks and would alaways end up going back up to the 1mg daily. In the past several few weeks even after taking my 1mg dose within about six hours I really feel terrible ...not quite a withdrwal but just like Im trembeling inside and comming out of my skin. I think I should try to taper by 1/8 of a tablet at a time . I take Serequel at night and sleep like a baby but shkortly after waking and taking the klonopin I really feel bad. Im not going to panic I am on a small dose but would welcome any advice. I was put on this by a doctor for anxiety and its giving me much more. Thanks
