Tramadol Gabapentin And Ativan

I am 71 years young. I have diabetes 2, schizoaffective disorder, osteoarthritis and cervical spinal stenosis as major illnesses. For all this I take 1000 mg of metformin twice daily, risperidone 1 mg, bubropion hcl XL 300 mg, lorazepam 0.5mg 3 to 4 times daily, 750 mg of nabumetone once to twice daily, 100 mg of tramadol 3 times daily, and 900 mg of gabapentin 3 times daily. I have pinched nerves in my neck and have had many procedures including a rhyzotomy for the pinched nerves and neck problems. I still get around fine, drive a car, and have job. I also drink one or two beers most days after work. The only problems I've ever had with the medicines was strong sedation the first two times I took gabapentin. After that it never happened again. It also took 3 to 4 weeks for the tramadol to take effect. I thought that drug was a joke at first but it is very effective after you take it for a while. I really don't understand why some people are claiming to have big problems taking some of these drugs and their combinations. I have excellent doctors who watch over me and they all know what each other is doing. I welcome your comments.

We are all different, so a medication that works well for you, or a combination of them, may not work well for someone else, and vice versa, the same also applies to experiencing side effects.

For example, I tried Gabapentin years ago, and it did nothing for me, at all. I did not experience any side effects, nor did I get any pain relief. When I tried Tramadol, I ended up vomiting within half an hour, every time I took my dose.

I am very glad that your medications work so well for you, but of what you've listed, the only one that I was able to take, without issues, was Ativan. (Excluding the Metformin, since I am not diabetic, so I was just being treated for pain, severe insomnia, and smoking cessation.)

You can find many articles about such issues on the NIH website.

Can anyone else that's taken these medications chime in?

Of course, you should always listen to your doctor. He should know all the other drugs and supplements you are taking. He will take all this into account along with what ails you to determine the prescription and dosage of everything he prescribes you. I personally have no problem taking my cocktail of medicine and having a few drinks. Just follow the dosages and don't exceed them and don't drive until you know how you deal with your own cocktail of drugs.
