Possible Klonopin Or Other Drug Taken

My 13 year old child unwisely took what she believed to be an appetite suppresant with her friend. The pills looked like the orange .5 Klonopin pills but her toxicology test from the hospital is negative for Benzos less than 4 hrs after ingestion. She took 2 in 24 hrs and weighs about 85 lbs.

She was completly stoned, disoriented, unable to form complete thoughts, unable to walk properly, pupils dilated, hyper.

Any ideas?

Those definitely aren't typical Klonopin side effects.

However, similar effects can occur from stimulants that are used for appetite suppression, such as amphetamines.

Especially if someone doesn't actually need them, because they have a normally functioning metabolism and brain chemistry.

There is a generic for Adderall that meets this description, which contains mixed amphetamine salts.

How is she doing now?

She's doing good now. Is there a way to find out if it was Esctasy? Its only been 2 days so would it still show in a toxicology test?

It was not covered in the standard tox screen here.

Is Clauseril (sp) good for sleeping. I'm told that on ambien I am somewhat belligerent and get up and wander around, eat etc, and once got in the car, jumped the median and blew a tire. Therefore ambien scares me, but I am an insomniac and need some kind of help to get some rest.

She took more than 1 mg. of Klonopin ... I bet you that.

Yes, you need to request that she be tested for MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) . However if she tested negative for Amphetamine-which is on the basic tox. screen for drugs of abuse, it most probably isn't MDMA because MDMA reacts to & shows up (in a basic tox. Screen as positive for Amphetamine). That being said, chemically, Ecstacy is supposed to be MDMA, however because it is manufactured by unregulated labs/chemists it isn't always 100% MDMA but rather can contain ketamine (a highly psychoactive anesthetic), Methamphetamine and Heroin. The only one of those that wouldn't be screened for is ketamine.

In addition there are many round orange tablets that could've caused the described symptoms & wouldn't have shown up on a tox. screen such as:
1) Hydromorphone 2mg - Potent Opioid
2) Haloperidol 2mg - Antipsychotic
3) Hydroxyzine 10mg - Antihistamine
4) Marinol 10mg - THC - Active Ingredient in Marijuana
5) Nucynta 100mg - Opioid
6) Oxycodone 5mg - Potent Opioid
7) Methylphenidate 20mg - Stimulant used for ADHD
8) Gabatril - 2mg - GABA agonist

I feel like what u are describing is "suboxone". Was the pill a small hexagon shape? I would also say that it was an amphetamine but with the description of her behavior I am convinced it had to have been a suboxone tablet. Suboxone is used to treat opiate addicts, somewhat like methadone, but much more safe, it doesnt get an opiate addict high, and it also has a drug in it that prevents u from getting high from any other opiate ingested. If one DOES NOT have an opiate tolerance however, the drug will act like any other opiate and will produce opiate-like effects. It is actually an extremely strong opiate that is only intended for people with very high opiate tolerances. A 2mg suboxone tablet does look similar to a 2mg klonopin so i could see the confusion. Have her tested for opiates. If this is what it was that she took I would take every action possible to find out more about what she is taking. I have never known anyone to come across and abuse suboxone unless they are in the early stages of opiate addiction. I really hope she's doing okay, and i hope this helps.

I am just curious as to how your daughter is.. I have 2 daughters and thank God they are now both over 18 and never took anything without knowing exactly what it was.. i.e. Tylenol, midol... We had a family member who was addicted to prescription drugs so they knew first hand what drugs could do to you... I truly hope and pray everything turned out alright.. Please let me know...
