Shawn, have you found a new PM doc yet? What's the status of your situation? Are you still in a world of hurt? Are you getting the same s***ty meds? I'm just interested in your current state of pain. I feel for you. No one should have to go thru what you are going thru and I'm sorry for that. Please update me, I'm rooting for you bro!!!

So sorry to hear your doc wont listen to you that's when its time to find a new PM doc. Once again I don't know your area so I cant recommend a doc. You need to do sxome research and Google PM places in a 50-100 mile radius. Trust me I know there is a huge difference between the 30mg oxymorphone and the 20mg I just found this out last week when my buddy came over and let me try one of his 20's and I let him try one of my 30's and WOW!!! The 20's are not that good at all plus I've had the luxury of also trying a 40mg and WOW!! they blow the 30's out of the water I just find that so weird all being made frrom the same and ONLY company IMPAX/GLOBAL. So that being said do your research

Re: RAWDOG (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I am having 1 heck of a time finding a doctor. I do have one but she thinks (the DR's are blowing smoke up our you know what) and says patients are only allowed to be on 90 milligrams equivalent of morphine so I am only taking 2 oxymorphone 20 mgs a day and she has me on perk 10/325 for breakthrough and will not budge. I hurt for about 8 hrs a day for those oxymorphone meds only work about 8 hrs a day for me. I am fine with the 20 milligrams now but perk 10/325 20s daily also when I was on 4 oxycodone 30 milligrams daily I am really struggling and don't know of any Drs around me. My PCP just retired so need a new doctor there and maybe I can find help through him. Don't know what else to do though. I am really to the point where I will fly to an appointment once a month, it's that bad around where I live, and I and others that really need these have to suffer through this because of it.

Re: Shawn (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

First of all Shawn don't listen to this Sherrie chick saying"Dont switch you'll be in a world of hurt" if you see she said "I took ONE once n it didn't help" uhh one once she's not making any sense. Plus EVERONE reacts different to different drugs.
Next is sorry I can't help you with referring you to a new place to go in your area because I live in Florida. But from the sounds of it you do need to find a new PM to help you get your pain down to being tolerable again, witch sounds like back to oxycodone 30mg and oxymorphone 30mg ER's. As much as i hate to say it once you feel the relief of that oxymorphone 20,30 or 40mg nothing else will compare to the pain relief(except Fentynal) that's the only problem with oxymorphone. I don't see you having a problem getting back on the same numbers you were at before that gave you the pain relief you needed especially being on that combo for 7yrs along and having the injury's you have so good luck and dont take no for an answer and keep looking untill you find a doc that will help. Keep me posted please looking forward to hearing from ya soon.

Re: RAWDOG (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

I have a very important question for u if u can help me out a little. I have been through 8 fusions 10 total back surgeries. I asked my neurosurgeon if he could set me up with a new pain doc due to being on oxymorphone 30s daily and oxycodone 30 mgs daily he did and told him I would like to go as low as possible but not to where I am hurting. This doc would not stop. I've been disabled for 10 years, seen multiple IME DOCS and not 1 said I would ever work again. This guy thought I could go back to work and it was all in my head, never put his hands on me or examed me either. I found another doc but am only getting percocet 10/325 daily and oxymorphone 20 mgs daily. She will not do a 3rd 1 and I have been on this medication for 7 years not getting relief for about 12 hours a day. I dont know where u live or if u would have any recommendations but really could use some kind of help please. {edited for privacy}. I am 1 hour from Pittsburg Pa, 1 1/2 from Cleveland and 2 from Colombus Ohio. If u have any ideas or places where I can talk to other people I'm willing to travel to feel better. Especially with 2 pre-teens. I don't want to miss much more of their lives and be stuck not doing the things kids and parents do with each other.

Hi. I have been on the oxycontin before and the opana should be much better for ur pain. I have had 8 fusions and 10 back surgeries. My most recent mri is still showing bulged discs. I was getting oxymorphone 30 3x a day and oxycodone 30 4x a day. Having trouble with west virginia docs.

I am a chronic pain patient also. I was on the 40 mg Oxycontin for 2 years until, you guessed it, the formula was changed to get gummy bear crap. It did not work, so my neurologist changed me over to the Opana ER 30 mg (I get the generic that uses the old opana formula, not the new formula rock hard plastic crap that Endo came up with) + 2 30 mg oxycodone 30 mg IR and it works great. I have had several surgeries on my lower back and finally spinal fusion on the lumbar area that did not give me much relief. I can still work because of these meds. The generic is imprinted with G77 on one side and nothing on the other, dark tan colored ones. I also take diazepam for muscle spasms. My neurologist is a very compassion guy that will listen to you and yes I have to do the random drug panels and take my bottles in so they can be counted to make sure I am not abusing my meds. Of course it is the abusers and sellers of their meds that are the cause of all this bad crap that us true chronic pain suffers have to deal with. Oh well, I thank God that I have found relief with these medications. May you all be blessed with a good caring doctor.

I went from OxyContin to opana as well and great as I thought OxyContin were, opana surprisingly not only lowered my pain level but kept me even more alert than the OxyContin did. I don't care how good they are for pain if I'm out of it or can't get out of bed early enough to make it to my first morning class. My roomie even commented to me, "I also did not hear you crying or wincing from pain like you normally do!" There you have it! Good recommendations not only from another cpp but an eyewitness account.

Hello, Timps! How are you?

Opana is actually twice as strong as Oxycontin, so you'd only need 80mgs of it daily to equal the 160mgs of Oxycontin that you were taking, thus, taking 120mgs a day will actually be a stronger dose and may provide better pain relief.

The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth.

Is there anything else I can help with?
