The screen roll pick up hydrocodone. Be Sure to inform tester you are taking BOTH DRUGS and why you are taking them. What do you take both? Just curious ...

I take Lortab for Chronic pain however I had a Norco from some time back and took it and now I worry that it could distingish on a drug screening and I am only prescribed the lortab. I guess it wont matter

Since they both contain Hydrocodone, as the active narcotic, they would both show up as such on standard drug tests.

Since this is a narcotic, it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth.

I apologize for misspelled words in my reply.

My reply was to read as: The screen will pick up hydrocodone as that is the active drug component in both Norco and and Lortab. As a former drug and alcohol tester, I recommend that you list hydrocodone as a prescription drug you are taking prior to the test. Most drug screening scenarios allow this information to be disclosed prior to the actual screen.

The only problem that some people often run into is if the drug they are prescribed is a deterrent to safety for them and/or others on the job. Some employers will not allow their employees to work while on such medication due to the side effects. Being up front and frank about your medication is of the utmost importance in passing a drug screen!

I hope that this answer has helped you in some way.
Good luck on the screening.

Thank you, Patricia!! It was great of you to post this information for our users.

Another issue that one can sometimes run into on a drug screen is if they are looking at the specific levels of the medication that is in your system. Some pain management doctors do this to make sure that someone is taking the medication as prescribed and not abusing it or selling it.

In such cases, anything inside or outside of the expected levels can alert them to a problem. However, this is very unlikely if you took just one extra tablet, days before the test is performed.

This is all very helpful and I didn't think that there would be a distinction between lortab and norco as they are both hydrocodone. I just wanted to make sure that there was no way to pick up lortab or norco specifically. I am prescribed lortab and once in awhile I take a norco as it has less affect on my liver however, I am not prescribed this norco. I just didn't want to get in trouble on a drug screening as they send it out for GS screening 5 to 7 panel testing.
Thanks

Joe, since they both contain the same ingredients, which are Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, then one isn't going to be better on your liver than the other.

Okay just to be clear, there is no test that can distinguish between Norco or Lortab at least on a 5, 7 or 10 panel drug screening test. They will both show up as hydrocodone, correct?

Just to clarify they test will not be able to determine if it's Norco or Lortab only that it's Hydrocodone and I have a precscription for lortab. Which I actually find both to be listed as hydrocodone APAP the generic for both norco and lortab just different strengths.

And to repeat, they contain the same active narcotic, Hydrocodone, so they would not be detected as anything different.

The only way you might run into a problem is if the test is checking for the levels of it, such as is done by some pain management doctors, to make sure that people are taking their medications as prescribed and not abusing them, or selling them.

When you are prescribed a certain amount at a certain dosing schedule, your levels should fall into a certain range and anything outside of that range can alert them to a problem.

I am prescribed Norco 7.5 and my husband is prescribed Loratab 7.5. Well today my doctor tested which I wasn't worried about because I take as prescribed or less! So when it came back he asked me why I had oxycodone in my system... Now the ONLY way this could have happened is if I accidentally took one of my husbands.( we keep them in our safe we have small children) So I called the doc and asked if he thought that was possible and he said no, They show up the same! So...I dunno! This is crazy. Gotta do another screen in 7 days to see if it metabolizes that way in my body!

I am prescribed 2 15 mg extended release morphine each day. I have taken more than prescribed because I usually get a quantity of 90 and was only given 60 this time. I only have one left and I haven't taken any in three days. My drug screen will be in a couple of weeks and this doctor, I believe, checks the levels of drugs. If I take one a few hours before going to my appointment will he know that I took more than 2 per day?

I take 3-4 10 mg lortab daily and usually 3 extended release 15 mg morphine. This month the doctor screwed up and only wrote for 60 morphine instead of 90 so I ran out early. I have 2 left which I'm saving to take the day of my test. Will this work? He does a 10 screen test and also checks levels I believe. Will this work or am I going to fail the test Plz help my test is in a couple of weeks and I don't no what to do!! How long before the test should I take them or should I even bother?

I don't think that they will be able to tell that you took more than 2 a day. as long as you take one before you go in you should be fine.

You can fail it if you dont take it until right before you go in. Sometimes it will not pick up on the test in time. Take one the night before, and one a few hours before the test, and you should be fine.

The exact same thing happened to me, and I also take it daily- including the day I was tested. I tend to urinate more often than most, so I wondered if that was the reason. I want to find out, too.

On a multi panel urine drug test scheduled in three weeks (sent out by my PM doctor), will the 5 Norco pills I took, be detected while taking my prescribed Hysingla ER in three weeks?

I'm no expert but If what you stated is accurate (60 vs. 90) then simply show the Doc. the bottle. This would easily explain why it is no longer in your system. Did you contact him/her to sipplement the quantity of 60? Simply not taking them could be problematic..
