Fatigue 1 Month After Opiate Withdrawal (Top voted first)

Updated

I've tried every sleeping med both OTC and prescription. I'm so exhausted I'm wondering why I quit taking the oxycontin/oxycodone. I know that sounds bad but I'm so tired of feeling like this. I feel suicidal sometimes and depressed most of the time. I know it's just exhaustion and I keep reading that it gets better but honestly I don't know how much more I can take...

I'm still dealing with little to no sleep and can't seem to get out of this cycle. My husband is taking me to the E.R. today. I can't take another night of sleeplessness. I hope your right and I'm going to turn a corner soon. Thank you I definitely need an antidepressant I'm not in a good place.

Hello and thank you! It seems like it took forever but I am finally feeling like myself again. I am so happy that I'm no longer dependent on opiates. I love my life and my family has been so supportive. My sons' keep saying how proud they are of me for checking myself into the hospital to get through the withdrawal. I still have a bit of insomnia and occasionally I feel blue but I'm ok and every day that passes I feel better. Thank you and thank god for this forum. Every time I felt frustrated and lost I found myself here reading other people's experiences with withdrawal and somehow I would find the strength to stay opiate free another day.

Hello, Robin! How are you?

If it's been a month, you should turn the corner soon and start to see an improvement. I'm saying this from experience, too. I was on pain management for years and quit cold turkey. It all really does get better shortly after the one month mark.

Have you considered trying an antidepressant for a few weeks to help? They are not habit forming and may really help boost you over this hump.

Hello again, Robin! I'm so glad that you're doing well and I congratulate you on doing this and taking your life back. That's very tough to do.

If it's safe for you to take, Benadryl/Diphenhydramine might help with the insomnia problem, it's an antihistamine, so it's non-addictive/habit forming. Its most common side effects can include nausea, dizziness and dry mouth.

I really do understand, because I went cold turkey off of high doses of Morphine and Oxycodone about 5 years, when I was on pain management for years. It was tough and there were times I was totally miserable.

How are you feeling today? Please post back and keep me updated.
