Hi all , I am 42 years old and suffered a MI 23 months ago , recovery was great after 2 stents and was back to fighting fit 8 weeks later , had a few blips throughout but now I've been put on 2.5 mg of biosprolol, no damage to my heart and BP is around 130 / 85 , these beta blockers are completely ruining my quality of life and I feel dizzy , fatigued all the time and very sloshy to say the least, bad headaches too.. starting to worry as well due to being a bit depressed as each day is the same and puts me in bed feeling like medical problem is about to accur, now stopped the biosprolol , how long till I feel relatively normal again ???

How can you say that Bisoprolol makes your heart stronger? These drugs make your heart beat less and less therefore, as with any muscle, your muscle (heart muscle) will become weaker over time..........Don't believe me ?Ask your Dr. for he will tell you that I am right.

On bisoprolol 10mg 2 a day for 4 years also taking Digoxin 250mcg 1 a day due to debilitating AF(kinda scary being in emergency room looking at a heart rate monitor showing a solid 210-220 bpm for 3 hours) and an irregular heartbeat.
Have felt so tired and listless with little enthusiasm for life for many years, AF attacks started when I was 30(41 now) and was in and out of hospital many times. The irregular beats are something I have been aware of since about 18 but never looked for help as it didn't cause me any problems.

Had an RF ablation about 3 years ago which was a turning point and basically been AF attack free since but just made my heartbeat more noticeable and the never ending lethargy and yellow blotches in my vision continued.

Due to circumstances which I won't get into here, I had an enforced suspension of all drugs, taking normal dose one day and next day nothing. It's been more than a week now and I feel better already, palpitations have gone, feel much happier and brighter, no yellow blotches everywhere I look and no pills to take.

Think part of it is also getting away from a very stressful situation(domestic violence) and getting proper sleep and eating well. I'm even able to excersise much harder than before with my stamina feeling much greater than when I was on those drugs. I suppose I might just be fooling myself but I feel like I'm at 90% instead of 50% as before and probably the relief at removing myself from my previous environment is helping.

I'm keeping my eye on my BP which so far has been fairly constant and high average at 130/80 but high BP was only present when going through stress. I've given up smoking and I don't drink anyway, I put on lots of weight during years of not knowing what was wrong and while taking tabs but over the past year I have lost 35kg and I'm keeping on going as long as my heart is pumping. I don't want an 8 man team to carry my coffin thanks.

I have been on betablockers since Nov. 2016. Bisoprolol made my reflux much worse and caused horrible intolerable epigastric pain. I have irritable bowel with constipation and it has made this condition much worse as well to the point where I am totally laxative dependent. I have tried metoprolol, atenolol, propanolol and nevibolol. All cause abdominal pain and constipation with the exception of nevibolol. I went back to metoprolol and have just been putting up with a bad situation. I have no sustained ventricular tachycardia and the beta-blockers work. I do not want an ablation. It is an imperfect and frustrating situation.

I had VF in 2009 while at the gym when I was 23. I was put on 5mg of Bisoprolol Fumarate and I gained about 15 lbs in the last 8 years. I asked my doctor every year to take me off but he always said NO. When I first started taking Bisoprolol I felt like a zombie. I cant stand taking pills and I know there is no way these are good for my long term health. I decided to cut calories by not drinking soda and by just eating healthier. I lost 40 pounds down to 175 from 215. I cut my pill in half for 60 days and then halved the half for 30 days. Then quit the medicine altogether except for my low dose aspirin. I FEEL GREAT! I have so much more energy. I'm not depressed anymore and my anxiety is nonexistent. I also believe this medicine has been causing my hair line to recede and causing infertility. Be smart about getting off by weaning and not abruptly stopping. I don't care what my Cardiologist says about it because I know my body. I feel great!

I had a catheter ablation about 12 years ago. I'm 40 now. Have been on bisoprolol for two years. Works great so far. I also take 1 mg of klonopin and Zoloft for anxiety. I still have afib from time to time. The earlier in the morning I take the beta blocker the better. I am tired all the time but the other meds play a role in that. Overall much better on meds than off meds. Better living through chemistry

On bisoprolol for two months for an arrythmia. Having G.I. side effects. Gastritis. Also causes, for me, constipation. Now need to take miralax on a daily basis. Cant see living with this type of abdominal pain forever.

I was like that initially but after three weeks the fatigue disappeared. I am on a low dose for an arrythmia. However, I get gastrointestinal side effects and its been two months and my body does not seem to be adjusting.

Bisoprolol- Hi I'm a 64 year old man, I have permanent AFib, I've been talking Bisoprolol for about 9 years. I was on 7.5mg, but have reduced over the years to 2.5mg at my request, due to fatigue. The side effect I still have are fatigue, some hair loss, erectile disfunction & weight gain & shortness of breath. For the last couple of years the tiredness has got worse, so I am now trying cutting a tab in half, so I take just 1.25 mg a day, I still feel shattered all the time. I am going to ask to come off the Bisoprolol.
After taking it for 9 years I wonder how it will take to get out of my body.
Best regards
Mike

My cardiologist prescribed a 5mg tablet however, I am only to take 1/4 of a tablet once a day and can increase to a 1/2 tablet. Dosage depends on what you are being treated for.

So pleased I got into this web site. My husband has been on Bisoprolol for years. He constantly complains of dreadful tiredness, shortness of breath, weight gain for no apparent reason. Was put on Statins years ago heart attack after long years on taking them, now has 5 stents inserted. So was put on Bisoprolol Fumerate has swelling of abdomen feet and legs, constant headaches. Numbness in legs, they feel "woolly" like another poster said "body doesn't feel like his own".

Many thanks to all subscribers you have helped me enormously.

I work on a Cardio Thoracic ward and never understood why G.Ps prescribe Statins. Most of the extra medication given causes side effects. Prior to being put on this "SO-CALLED HEART MEDICATION" He had no heart problems whatsoever.

We're like guinea pigs. My father was on a diuretics for high blood pressure for 5 years it did little. When he was 76 they put him on bisoprolol from 2.5, increasing to 10 mg after couple of weeks. His diolostic figure dropped like crazy and they had to cut it back straight away down to 2.5. They could have brought him off it but kept him at 133 over 40, no tiredness or anything. Sometimes experimentation is the only way. As you know, there's beta blockers, blood thinners, (and as i mentioned) diuretics ... all for blood pressure. You prob know that beta blockers slow your heartbeat down. That could be lowering oxygen slightly in the blood, making you tired. You have to demand things or doctors just want u out of their surgery.
