Rumoquin and Glaucoma

Is it okay to take Rumiqoun N.F. If you have glaucoma? ## Rumoquin NF contains Dexamethasone, Methocarbamol, and Pheylbutazone. The Dexamethasone is a steroid class medication, and it has been known to cause glaucoma in some people, since one of its side effects is increased ocular pressure, according to FDA reports. However, it can be taken by someone with glaucoma, if their doctor approves, and is monitoring them regularly, in which case the lowest possible effective dose should be used. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, sedation, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone know the full name? ## Hi George, check the list of drugs on the Vision / Eye Health category page (you have to scroll down a bit and then do to the letter P). Are any of those the drug that you were prescribed?

after using dorezol drops I begin having nervousness feelings and anxiety I couldn't deal with anything or anybody. I also gained waiting for those 3 weeks or more. has anyone else have this problem? ## Durezol contains the active ingredient Difulprednate, which is a steroid class medication, so the types of side effects you experienced are common, including the weight gain. Learn more Difulprednate details here. These types of side effects can occur with any steroid class medication that's used. Are there any other comments or questions? ## I have been using durezol now at twice per day for over five weeks after having cataract surgery in one eye and then another. Generic Flourometholone shortage

I was just wondering if anyone had any information on the current generic FML shortage/unavailability? I can only find info on the ophthalmic ointment, but nothing on the ophthalmic solution. We have been unable to get it here in Tucson for the past 2-3 weeks. No info on when it will be available, or if it will be available. Any information will be useful. I work for an ophthalmologist and we have many patients on a maintenance of FML, if it will be unavailable for a long time we will need to come up with a long term solution. ## For the ointment, the reason is listed as there being a shortage of the raw materials, so if that is specific to the actual drug ingredient, it would only make sense that it would also affect the solution. They do say that it should be resolved by the end of th...

Dorzolamide - Timolol Opth Soln 10 ML

I have been on Dorzolamide - Timolol for the past eight months , for use in one eye . This drug has reduced my eye pressure from 21 to 13 . I receive a 10 ML vial or bottle, which should last approximately 45 days . However after about 28 days the bottle is empty with proper use . What i discovered in the first four bottles is that , they were approx. 70 % full . I registered a complaint with my health insurance , which informed me to check the level of the bottle before leaving the pharmacy. When i acquired the fifth bottle , it was completely filled or 100%. I served on a Grand Jury for medicaid fraud . This is no doubt a case of fraud . A prescription bottle of Dorzolamide - Ttimolol 10 ML should be filled to the top of the bottle. ## Have you informed your pharmacy of the issue? Hav...

Prefrin Eye Drops For Red Eyes

Ophthalmologist prescribed PREFRIN eye drops for red eyes nearly 20 years ago. Is it available now? My problem is allergic in nature (itchy eyes = angular conjunctivitis mild at inner angles of eyes ). Appreciate response from OLD-TIMERS. ## I have had prefrin prescribed approximately 25 years ago and I use this daily although cautioned by optomotrists that this could lead to a permanent red vessel eye condition. I do however find these drops comfortable to use and the removal of red in my eyes. I can no longer find this product and pharmacies all indicate"out of stock". I assume that the product is no longer available and perhaps I could be informed of a replacement or alternative product. Information would greatly be appreciated. ## I used to use Prefrin in the 80's & ...

Can Latisse backfire?

I used Latisse successfully for several months & loved the look. But then my lashes started to fall out, leaving me with short stubby ones less full than when I began the latisse. Does anyone know if it stops working, or the body gets resistant to it, or have any of you had the same reaction? Thanks. ## Same thing happened to me - I am wondering if this is a bad batch of Latisse - how would one know until eyelashes stop growing or fall out? ## It is normal for your body to eventually get used to any type of medication you are using, even a topical one and it may stop working as well as it once did. The warnings in the product information also say that other changes in hair growth may occur and though it is rare, this could involve shorter or less lashes. Some drugs don't work at...

White round pill with double score one side and Lederle with a cursive L on the other side. ## Do you know the dose of this Tablet in mg? ## I found a PDF leaflet on this medication from Medsafe (NZ), and it states: " DIAMOX tablets are round, white, cross scored and marked with “Lederle” on the back... DIAMOX tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: - sodium starch glycollate - povidone - calcium hydrogen phosphate - maize starch - magnesium stearate "

The reason Hypotears was discontinued.

Loved Hypotears and used for years. I recently found out that it contains BAK (Benzalkonium chloride) as a preservative which has shown to cause cellular deterioration of parts of the eye. I am pretty sure that this is the reason it was discontinued. It is very upsetting to know that BAK was never listed as an ingredient. ## Hello Russell, I'm not positive that is the reason that this particular brand of carboxymethylcellulose sodium has been discontinued as there are others that also contain benzalkonium chloride that are still available on the market. There has been a lot of speculation as to why the brand has been discontinued as the reason was never officially released. Some speculate that the preservatives were too harsh while others believe that the cost to manufacture had gon...

Jetrea Experience

I am 54 years old which I am told is fairly young for this situation. I also had Lasik surgery 10 years ago and my vision was perfect for distance. I was only beginning to need reading glasses. It was very difficult to accept the changes that started occurring in my right eye especially since my vision was so great beforehand. I had surgery (vitrectomy) for a macular hole in Jan of 2014. The surgery was successful but I did develop a cataract very quickly which almost always happens after this surgery. Much to my dismay, the same situation presented in my left eye in Dec of 2014. I knew immediately what was going on so I made an appointment with my surgeon. We decided to try the injection this time since my hole was very small and he figured it was a 50/50 chance in my case. I had the i...

Eye lid drooping

Hello. I’m Rick. I was wondering about an issue with my left eye drooping when I get up in the morning. Someone mentioned it could be an eye allergy so I bought Visine allergy drops and it helps for like 3 hours then it starts to droop again, then I put the drops in and it’s fixed again. Just wanted some opinions. Also, I forgot to mention my eyebrow moves upward towards my hair and when I use the drops it relaxes again. Thanks for any thoughts. ## Have you consulted your medical care provider? Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions? Do you take any medications on a regular basis? The FDA lists the typical optical issues from allergies as including eye redness, tearing, itching, and general irritation, but drooping it not a normal issue associated with them. How much s...

Xalatan and tooth decay

In the last six months i have been suffering with dry mouth. Bloodtests show nothing abnormal. At my last dentist visit lots of decay and i need extensive work. Second opinion agrees. The only med i have used long term about 15 yrs is XALATAN for Glaucoma. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced same. Also the generic that im forced to use by my crappy insurance comes via Puerto Rico which some areas still dont have power from last years hurricane. Xalatan or LATANAPROST is temperature sensitive. COINCIDENCE? ## The FDA doesn't report this medication as being known to cause that as a side effect. Most of its common ones are ocular, and may include increased iris pigmentation, blurred vision, itching, and redness. The dental issues may just be due to the dry mouth. What o...

durezol and weight gain

I have been on Durezol drops 6x day for over a year and have gained 20 pounds! My IOP was so low that they could not get a reading and the Durezol is being used to increase the pressure. I will be on them indefinitely. Not happy about the weight gain. ## The FDA classifies this as a steroid class medication, so weight gain can be a typical side effect of it, along with dizziness, headache, eye irritation and acne. Are you also watching your diet and getting plenty of exercise? Such actions may help to mitigate the weight gain. ## Please get a second opinion asap. Durezol is not intended for that high of a dose. It is very strong and will increase inflammation and eye damage which actually lowers the eye pressure causing hypotony. This happened in my case and also caused macular edema. T...

Eyes sensitive to light after laser surgery for glaucoma

Can eyes become sensitive to light after laser surgery for glaucoma? How long does the sensitivity last? Are there any other side effects from laser surgery to eyes? ## Any procedure carries the risk of causing side effects. The FDA includes light sensitivity among them, as well as eye pain, stinging, and tearing. Did your surgeon not provide you with any details on the possible side effects, or risks? Did they provide you with any special instructions for aftercare? Are you on any medications? Can you please post back with more details, so I can research this more for you? Thanks!
