Two Different Adhd Meds From Two Different Doctors (Top voted first)

Updated

Hello,

I am currently seeing a psychiatrist near the school that I go to, and a family practitioner back at home. My school psychiatrist has began prescribing me ritalin along with other depression medication. My new doctor began prescribing me vyvanse, but the dosage is not good enough to make a difference and I will not see him for a while. Would it be possible for me to see a different doctor on top of this one and purchase the ritalin via cash; and not use my insurance, but instead use a different pharmacy while I continue to receive my vyvanse from my other doctor via insurance? Thank you so much in advance

Hello, Thomas! How are you?

Doing so would be illegal and all controlled substance prescriptions are tracked, so it would eventually catch up with you, even if you pay cash. It would be best not to try it. If you feel that one isn't working, then please return to your doctor and inform them, so they can change the dosage or prescribe a different medication.

The FDA classifies these medications as stimulants, so many of them carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, weight loss, nervousness and anorexia.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm not going to provide a guide to circumventing/breaking the law without consequences, but the bad guys know exactly how to "cook the books." I've seen it again and again. Not everything is tracked; let's put it that way. Nothing personal, but this sort of information should be placed in Schedule I.
