Strongest 30 Mg Oxycodone - Kvk Vs Mallinckrodt Vs Rhodes (Top voted first)

Updated

Hi All,

I experience pretty severe neuropathic pain due to a spinal injury. I have a Baclofen pump which also contains hydromorphone but still get a lot of breakthrough pain. I've been taking oxycodone for 8ish yrs. and the pills I was prescribed those first few yrs. did a good job at treating the pain. I've had to change pharmacies and notice lately the oxycodone 30s I've been given lately do little or NOTHING! Especially the Mallinckrodt!

My doc prescribed 3 30mg pills a day but I had to munch 5 of the Mallinckrodts in a 4 hour period and still got barely any relief. I was worried I'd get constipated big time after taking that many pills several days in a row but I didn't (because they're so damn weak!) I don't know the mfg. of the oxys I was taking yrs ago but it may have been Actavis or KVK Tech. (although KVKs I was prescribed last mo. weren't much better than the Mallinckrodt).

My question is what brand do y'all think is the strongest 30mg oxycodone? My pharmacy has the KVK but I talked to another that carries Rhodes, are those any better? Thanks for any info!

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT RHODES! I am suffering with neuropathy and severe oa and cant get any relief from these "fake" oxys from Rhodes. I have talked to doctor and pharmacy but no one wants to do anything. Do we gave a cause of action against Rhodes ?

You are awfully lucky to have a hospital prescribe you pain meds and manage them as well. That is simply not the case in most places. The DEA has come down so hard on PM and opioid prescribing in my area that I had to take 3 UA's in 3 months to prove I was taking the stuff. Never mind that I might try to get my tolerance down by taking a breather from the oxy. It only remains in my system 2-3 days regardless of the dose. That means that if my drug panel results are negative I have to bring my damn pills in to have them counted so they are sure I am not selling the stuff. I wouldn't be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every night if I were selling my meds! Damn the DEA, the misusers, the pushers and screw ups that do not know how much their misdeads do to people that truly need the meds. Then big pharma comes in and further messes up the whole thing.

It is a war against opioids period. Why? Why not allow people in legitimate pain that have paid thousands of dollars in treatment for legit diagnoses to live with some dignity? There are so many new addendums and regulations that I have become paranoid that I am being tracked beyond my pharmacy and doctor's office. BTW, A's and M's are superior in quality at the moment.

Hello. I too am prescribed oxy 30's x 4 a day along with 100 mcg fentanyl patch every 48 hours. I'm near Atlanta and can not find these ANYWHERE (or "they are out of stock"), but fortunately the little pharmacy in the hospital I go to does carry them. They switched to Rhodes and they did nothing for my pain so I asked if they could change. So they gave me the kvk' and so far I can't tell a difference from those and the more popular ones from cvs when cvs did have them. I was well known there as I have been a cpp for four years now do to a motorcycle accident, but as staff changed so did service. I never had a problem getting my Meds then all of the sudden,"they don't have them in stock". These people abusing them really get to me! But everywhere I read they say these kvk' are junk. So far so good with me, and LOTS better than Rhodes. I would stay away from the rhodes brand at all cost imo. Hope this helps, and good luck managing your pain. I know it's a hit or miss most of the time, but I'm finally doing ok with mine.

Rhodes is awful!! I was switched to 20mg Rhodes big white pills after taking the little blue Ms. It is important that we file complaints en masse bwcause legitimate pain sufferers are beinf unjustly vuxtimized

I have been seeing a pain management clici for about 4 months now. When they prescribed me oxycodone 15 the first three time, they worked just fine. The last time i went to walmarts to get my prescription refilled walmarts gave me some white pills that had rp 15 on one side. They were not the same thing as i had been getting before. Each time i took one it was about as effective as taking an aspirin. I called walmarts and told them that they were not the same thing as i had gotten before. The man who talked to me in very bad broken english told me that they were the same thing. He said that they buy in quantity and have no control over the meds that they buy. Now i have been taking the rp-15 for the last 27 days and i am out of them, because to get any relief from my pain i took more than was prescribed. I am going to the doctor next week and tell her what the pharmacy at walmarts told me and i am going to refer her to this site and she can look it up and verify what i am saying is true. Rhodes are leaving out something in their oxycodone, i dont know what it is, but they re screwing people out of money by selling aspirin as oxycodone.

This is 100% true. Rhodes is terrible. Must be putting in rat poison instead of opiates.

The Rhodes meds DO NOT WORK!!
I believe the manufacturer is providing a non-opiod ingredient in their oxycodone. I have reported them to the FDA and suggest that others do the same. This is the only way the problem will come to the attention of regulatory agency.

The Rhodes oxycodone is AWFUL!!
I am not sure of the manufacturer of the small lighr bluish green pills that worked so well before my pharmacy switched to Rhodes
I filed a complaint with the FDA about Rhodes. The efficacy of generic meds can range +/- 20% .

I'm 69 & suddenly suffering from Neuropathic pain in shoulders, hips, & lower back which radiates into extremities. Cause and effect or coincidence? this all started right after a Prevnar 13 shot. I am in FL where MAJOR tightening on Pain Meds is being implemented.

Costco sources through Mallinckrodt & Interpharm. Walmart, Publix, Sams use Rhodes. Rhodes does not give me the same level of pain relief and also leaves me feeling agitated and nervous/shaky.

Hi, I used to take Actavis 30 mg but cannot find it anywhere. I think that Rhodes is awful. The best I can get is Mallincroft, which I have been able to find fairly easily, used to take Oxycontin, but cannot afford it on medicare. I still have a lot of breakthrough pain. I have degenerative disc disease, and sciatica plus bad nerve pain. I am grateful to have a good doc, who works with me.

The problem of pain, We have an older population and that has a lot to do with more people using pain meds, When I was working, I got Oxycontin which is the best. I lost my job, did not have Medicaid, because I was making too much money on unemployment to be eligible for it. My PM doc dropped his charges for me, because he knew that I could not afford it. So, He put me on 30 mg oxycodone, an equivalent dose. I took Actavis first and it always was good. After being on SS for 2 years, I was eligible for medicare. That is when med problems started. Last year, I could not go to that pharmacy, or several other pharmacies because I had changed from PPO to a Hmo in the same company. That was a wicked year, discovered Rhodes oxy, which is awful. This year, I totally changed companies, and found a close rite aid, which is friendly and have been able to get mallinckrodt. I read several pain patients have changed to illicit drugs, because they cannot get relief from prescription meds. That is sad.

My last refill from Walmart isn't working. It's the Rhodes 30mg. I've been thinking my RSD was getting worse but after reading these post I'm convinced I'm not getting enough meds to cover my pain. I want my little blue pills back!! I've been in bed for 3 weeks now.

In all honesty, generics that are being sold are useless no matter what anyone say.s 10 years ago 3 x 10mg was plenty. Now you can take a higher dose and get next to no relief. I believe there is a concerted effort by DEA and FDA to allow foreign manufacturers to sell bogus drugs. It can’t be we are ALL WRONG!!!!

Rhodes and kvk both are a lot weaker than Actavis,Qualitest or Mallencroft. Things are bad.

Hello,

It's been awhile since I have been on here, but have learned a lot in just that little of time. If you see my post a couple down, you can kind of get my story. Is what the problem is now is that the DEA has put a band on the amount of the higher controlled Meds' that a drugstore is allowed to purchase a month. And since that is where everyone is going (because the better named drugstores usually carry the better product), they are out of stock the first week they get them in... Now I have changed my PM doc three times over the period of four years to finally find one that understands *PAIN*, and I love them. Before I wouldn't go ANYWHERE besides CVS or Walgreens. Now they are always out of what I need. So the hospital I go to for PM has a little "ma & pops" type drugstore there where I fill my Meds as soon as I get them and it takes no longer than 10 minutes at any time. At first they were giving me off bran Meds that weren't working so I asked if I could get a special kind and they kindly agreed to order them. I no longer even have to say anything, they put it in the system to flag any type besides the ones I asked for. The point of all of that is, I never use places like Walmart, Rite Aid, Krogers, or any other place like that, I always stuck to CVS or Walgreens. But maybe your (or anyone else having the problem of getting non working Meds) best bet is to find a similar type of place where they will work with you and you never have to worry about them not having your medication? Idk, just my opinion. Good luck to you, I know a life in pain is no fun.

PS,
Please report back if you find any better options, I'm always curious to new, easier, or better ways.

Thanks

I have a spinal cord injury due to a tractor trailer accident 20 years ago. I am taking 2 fentanyl patches and 4 30 mg oxycodone,. Fentanyl 2 100 mcg are every 48 hours . My question is what are they doing g to these medications? They don't work any more if you can even find them. I feel like taken my life at times because the pain is so bad..Does anyone know if the government can do this by law?

You pretty much got it on point there for the most part my friend. My only qualification is I was a pharmacist MD but that was 12 years ago before my cancer came back that I had when I was 13 years old. It was in remission and I was working doing the pharmaceutical thing horrible horrible service to the public especially the larger Walgreens CVS types but that's what they want use. So for the past 12 years I've been dealing with cancer that came back and I'm at stage 4 right now I kind of feel hollow since I have not that many organs left one with lots of tumors taken out they took out a lot of my organs or most of them. As far as that medicine goes every brand just like every kind of medicine will treat every single person differently. Some people will get sick and have really bad side effects and other people feel great and will work for them 4 years or for the rest of their life? That's what it comes down to there are some guys that make you sign a confidentiality agreement if your pharmacist with the major pharmaceutical companies so you have to tell the customers (as I did too or else they would take me to court and I will have no say in anything with their high-powered attorneys and I would actually never get a job again in that field). I think the main thing everyone should know about really any drug or if you're talking about oxycodone specifically will use that as an example? The brand which is Roxicodone is allowed a 10% basic window which obviously is less then the actual milligrams that you're supposed to receive? smh, bad! When you get any kind of the generics they also have a window but their's is 20% so that's why I lot of people notice the change in the medication that they take? It also could be a change in Formula like recently if you have it talked about like clonazepam which is Klonopin. But the bottom line is if you do your research you can at least get the best that's available out there for you? So lastly as an example. Once a patent is up for the brand of any medication they still want to make some extra money besides what they sell for brand because all those generic companies are selling most of the active ingredient medications which are the generics or considered? I say that because most of the drug companies obviously are greedy and they're going to find a way to make some more money on top of what they already making I choose clothing or food over medication? So what that company will do is make an exact deal with a generic company selling their exact patent so it's the same as the brand and will take some type of residual percentage deal that they have with the company that uses the exact formula as the Brand!!!

So the main takeaway of all this should be that everyone you're really everything that has to do with medications should do their homework before they actually pick up their medication from the pharmacy? Because your doctor won't have the answer for that there's no way. Most of the time they're calling the pharmacist any way to find out what the equivalency of this or that is or just using the internet which is a joke in itself, LOL. So now since I'm a stage 4 cancer patient and it's tough I just recently almost passed away a couple months ago and they're on hospice told I was going to die in 6 months, that was two years ago ECT. Now even though I should be on other medications 1 medication I'm on that supposed to be on for my seizures and my panic attacks which is alprazolam even though I know this is not the exact thread for that I've tried to help people laying on my back through these forums just reading and using my smartphone and to lend a helping hand. But yes here in the United States the one company that has the exact same formula for Xanax that is made by Pfizer. They sold their patent or formula to GREENSTONE LLC, & on this one like most of them only difference is the stamp which is the lettering or scores on them? In the United States before they changed most of the formulas for all the opiate pain medications which they call "Divergent", and that's a whole other story. Only because it really screwed up the entire medication in fact they should have had to go through all the trials again because it got me sick every single one of them that I tried and they change them all especially the extended release ones really horrible because they actually only did it in this one country but added extra milligrams here in America and also all over the world. Now let's remember all over the world nothing had changed they never change the formula or anything it was just a simple 350 million people that they had to change the formula for and at the same time I think it was three different milligram pills? Really sick and sad all about the greed and the dollar.

So sorry for rambling. I think I only wanted to mention that for those few years before they changed the formula 4 Oxycontin ER here in America. It would just have the dosage let's say 80 on one side and OC on the other side. So there's about two or three drug companies if I remember correctly that just bottled them. So I think they weren't manufacturing the actual medication. Purdue Pharmaceuticals that has the patent on oxycontin ER. They are the real Crooks that did this literally at the eleventh hour before they were the only one to hold the patent for original brand and there are going to be many generic companies. I'll tell you that gave them another five years or 10 maybe. I don't remember without having drug trials (which was never done and rarely done which is horrible because it's a new drug and has all kinds of different reactions obviously but that's the FDA for you it's really sickening and sad because they just get away with murder, in the most literal sense possible? So my friends, I hope I helped you out a little bit. Funny thing is there's a guy who I know his real name but his username is "ZABORAV"! We go way back, we definitely trust each other on everything. We both have a lot of knowledge so anything he says I agree with even if I didn't read it myself? Anyway this is almost like a debate so I don't know if I'd go that far LOL. I hope this gets out to him and we can reunite on this Forum that I saw one of his posts a few months ago? I just get an email what's some general topics and I just add my two cents LOL and go on my way. I'll spend some time here but I'd like to get to meet some people. Thanks very much and have a safe day.

BS! Since when is oxycodone the “newest thing” out there? If I truly wanted the newest I would have posted about the many Fentanyl medications out there! But I can't afford the thousands of dollars they cost so I'm looking for a brand of oxy that will kill my pain, nothing more, just like the others that posted here! And what's the point of commenting on my pump when you have no clue why I got it and what I went through prior to getting it? I've had the pump for 11 years now and only had one problem where the catheter clogged and had to be replaced. That's 11 years of getting a full night's sleep vs the two to three hours I used to get because I had pain and spasms keeping me awake almost all night long. That's 11 years of not getting knocked out of my wheelchair by severe back and leg spasms. And FYI, it's difficult to rest and meditate when one is experiencing constant pain and/or spasms. I know, I've tried, several times! Also, you're not trying to be a smart ass? Right! Re-read your note! And what's up with this "im sure that i was & am sicker then u"?? What's your point?? Who cares?? If you want to be sicker than I am, fine, have at it, you're sicker than I am!!! WTF!

I was shot in the head 3 years ago and I completely agree with all of you. I would think by law there would be a specified amount of opiates or opioids in every pill. I was getting 4mg dilaudid manufactured by Amor. Pharmaceutical. I'm like you guys, might as well take aspirin. I saw where Mel. Pharmaceutical pills were not potent. My Walmart had them, so I didn't get them. I went to CVS tonight and got Rhodes brand. Without insurance they were $16 for 60 tablets. I asked how much the brand name Dilaudids were, and they were $200. However, if you are only allotted 60 pills per month, you could take less brand name and they would help more. I went to the ER last night for a spike in pain. They gave me a shot of dilaudid and it did not help much. I'm wondering if this opiate epidemic is hurting the people like us that need them. My theory is the FDA is telling the pharmaceutical companies to put less opiate in the drugs. I told my doctor my theory but I don't think they believe me. We do need to have a legal suit, but someone has to organize it! The first thing to do is to see if the pills are required by law to have a certain percentage of opiates. If so, we need to take each brand to a lab to get proof, then find a lawyer. If I have enough support, I would love to be in charge. However, it's like if you buy Kellogg's Frosted Flakes. They are much better than the generic Kroger brand. We have the choice. Next time I am buying the name brand Dilaudid. You could take them as prescribed and would not run out.
