I was put on 25mg. of seroquel 7 months ago for trouble sleeping. While taking even this low dose I started having severe back and legs pain. Spent all kinds of money during 6 months going to massage therapist and chiropractor as I was so tight with horrible pain, plus I had no appetite, was extremely fatigued, I
have been having horrible headaches everynite so I decided I needed to get off this crap. The Phsychicatrist that gave it to me said to cut 1/4 tablet for 2 to 4 weeks which would help with withdrawals. Well its been 17 days of cutting1/4 tablet less and I am still suffering from nausea, headaches, sleep problems, no energy whatsoever, and above all cannot eat, no appetite at all.I have read that the 1/4 tablet the doctor tole me to cut was way too much and thats why I'm so sick. Goes to show you how much he knows. I'm not cutting again until I reach 30 days and then I ewill only cut a tiny amount off the next 1/4 tablet. This drug is very nasty and dangerous. Feel free to email me if you have any suggestions for me or if I can help you with my experience on this drug. Also he put me on this low dose to help me sleerp but remember after so long you become tolerasnt to it and must keep raising the dose to get the benefit and the larger doses makes you live like a zombie all day long as its very hard to wake up and function. Irt should never be given out for sleep problems. Go to Roadback.org. They are very informative about these frugs and how to safely get off them. I did and plan to try their way because the Doctors way is taking my life away from me. Thanks to all of you.

Wow. After reading your post, I am wondering something about what is going on with me. I was given 50mg of Seroquel xr 1 1/2 years ago for sleep. I didn't have back pain and leg pain UNTIL I dropped it down to 25mg. I literally am waking up in the night in tears! I had no idea where this is coming from. I called the Pharmacist today after reading your post and he said that that is not a common side affect of coming off of seroquel. Sometimes THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THE HELL WE GO THROUGH!!! They should try all these drugs to get a better picture and appreciation for what we all go through. So my question is this, do you think by me cutting it in half, that is why I am hurting so terribly bad?

Karen
I researched it on the web and found several people that never had pain in their back or legs also til they were on Seroquel and they too said it was severe just like mine and they also said that as soon as they were off the Seroquel all the pain stopped so there you are. I went for massages and the chiropractor for 6 months and finally my chiropractor told me that he really thought it was the Seroquel causing it so thats exactly whats happening to both of us. I'm only on 25mg. but having to taper ast only 5% each time and using the water titration method also because I get such severe withdrawals if I don't. This drug has a new name, "Serohell". Some of these symptoms are irreversible also so isn't that great? This drug is very dangerous and should be taken off the market. I'm worried because they are giving this crap to children.

Karen;
I think your problem is caused by the pill and also dropping that big of an amount also. Its actually both I think. We both need to get off this crap. The pharmacists and Doctors only tell us what they want. I have researched this drug extensively and it causes all sorts of problems not noted on the sheets or tyold to us which is why I am having to taper off 25mg. at only 5% each time. I dropped 1/4 of a 25mg. tablet 29 days ago and I have been in the pits of hell since with nausea, headaches, no appetite at all, fatibue, and severe back and leg pain so yes you did drop too much too soon. You have to drop this drug very very slowly as this crap affects the receptors in your brain so please be careful. I'm just hoping this back and leg pain will go away once I'm off it but I still have a ways to go.

I don't mean to alarm you, but all of your symptoms indicate Seroquel-induced decline in kidney function. Call your regular doctor (not your psych) to report your symptoms ASAP, and if he/she doesn't get you in for immediate labwork (urine and blood), get to an ER. Sounds like Acute Kidney Failure is on the horizon if you don't seek treatment very soon; how quickly you get this taken care of is CRITICAL in reversing damage to your kidneys, and you don't want this to turn into a chronic condition which will significantly decrease the length and quality of your life. (chronic kidney disease = diabetes, heart disease, regular rounds of dialysis, stroke, impaired cognitive function, etc etc...)

I have been taking Seroquel for bi-polar disorder. I have only taken it off and on for several years, mostly OFF. When I take it, (300mg daily) I slur my words, my memory is shot and I will buy things I don't need or want. this past time I bought a cell phone I can't afford.
When I started cutting down on this medicine, I got very mean and b****y,extreme muscle soreness and cramps. I have noticed over the past few years I am either dehydrated or holding excess fluid, and my back hurts all the time. Over the past ten years of being on this medicine occasionally ,I have gained at least 60 lbs. I have no will power when it comes to food. I stagger around like I am drunk and have fallen in the floor. I have broke a foot and my arm and have hit my head on the floor. I truly believe my doctor has me over medicated. He gives me Seroquel, Traxodone, xanax, restoril and neurontin. I truly believe I am header for a overdose and or death if I don't get off these medicines. I have found that talk therapy has helped a lot.

I have now cut down to 1/4 of 100 mg at bedtime. My body still hurts but my memory is getting better and so far I have not become so mean and hatefull . I have been on this dose for about 2 weeks, I will probably wait another week before cutting down to 1/4 pill every other day.
