I have been taking Pristiq for about 3 years now due Anxiety attacks. After taking the drug for afew days I had the worst anxiety i'd ever had, i had horrible nightmares, nausea and bad headaches these symptoms completely disapeared by about a month after starting it. After the first month life was great I was back to my normal self, I could eat food again (which was the main reason for my anxiety attacks). For about 2 years it worked great for me with minimal side effects mainly brain ticks if i took the pristiq too late in the day, If i completely forgot the tablet I would be bed ridden the entire next day with terrible brain ticks, headaches and nausea, although 99 percent of the time I felt fine. I fell pregnant with my now 9 month old baby girl and decided to stay on pristiq wh...

After 6 yrs on zoloft it no longer helps much. I felt great for 2-3 years but know it time for a change. I had a genetic test done and my doctor decided to try me on pristiq. Reduced zoloft to 50 mg and started 50mg prestiq today. Then keep reducing zoloft. Anyways I'm freaking out about being on 2 antidepressant at the same time (serotonin syndrome) and am also scared of withdrawal symptoms from the zoloft. Is there anybody who's had a positive experience switching from ssri to snri?? ## Doing a gradual change by tapering up and down is normal, as long as your doctor is monitoring you to keep an eye out for any possible problems. It should also eliminate the worst of any withdrawal symptoms, though you may still experience some nausea, diarrhea, and anxiety, according to the NI...

I have depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, and am currently taking Pristiq 50mg once daily, along with Buspar 10mg twice daily. I was taking 300mg Wellbutrin XL with that, but my psych dr thought it my be exacerbating my anxiety. A few weeks ago she decreased my Wellbutrin dosage to 150mg and changed it to the SR formula. Now she wants me to quit the Wellbutrin completely and up my Pristiq.. I I have been on 50mg Pristiq once daily for almost a year now, and I don't really think it's been working for me for some time. When I first started taking it, I switched from Zoloft 100mg and found my mood improved quickly. After a while I think I went more towards either being depressed or apathetic, but yet couldn't actually recognize until my husband told me that I...

I was on venlafaxine 37mg and it made me more worse. I was on cymbalta and that worked great but it stopped working and now i am on zoloft but it's not working. I am thinking about pristiq but is it worth it over venlafaxine? ## It is a similar medication in the same class, but it is not exactly the same, so it may work better for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have no insurance and have to purchase prestig which is quite expensive. Is there help for those like me to get assistance in helping with my perscription of Prestige ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, it is an antidepressant, which is manufactured by Pfizer. And yes, they have a program to assist uninsured individuals that require their medications, they offer several different programs and the eligibility requirements can vary for each, but you can contact them for more information at 866-706-2400. Many of the programs just require that you have no insurance or prescription coverage and then they usually go by a sliding fee scale, which is based on your income. So, some people receive their medications completely free, while others pay a small percentage of th...

I am on 200 a day an I've stoped taking them as I worked so hard to loose 62kg an I was told this drug wouldn't make me gain weight. I am on day 4 without them an I am seriously dizzy an I am wanting to know how much longer till the drug is out of my system? ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. The withdrawal effects, if you were taking them for a long period of time, especially at such a high dosage, can take about a month to completely wear off. Though, they will gradually improve and not be so severe, as your body adjusts to no longer having the medication. You should also be careful to watch for rebound depression and anxiety symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What is prestiqe, and is it make bad side effec...

I've been pretty anxious my whole life. Used Paxil at 15 after a bad experience with drug my anxiety was insane. I then stopped using Paxil after a month and managed to.live with my anxiety. I then had to use cipralex twice because my anxiety went crazy. But always stopped after 3 months. But for 3 years I have been using temazepam 30mg everyday. This pill helped me sleep at night however I didn't know I would end up being so addictive. I feel so happy at night when I take it. Now my anxiety is back and I went to see the doctor because I couldn't stand it... I go shopping and have major anxiety panic attack and feel like I will faint. So I went to see my doctor because first I wanted to stop temazepam and second to help with anxiety.. the thing is that since I started using ...

I have been on pristiq 100mg for about 10 years now for depression and anxiety it has been working for many years but today I feel terrible with head spins, nausea and systems i usually get when i forget a pill which i haven't is there any reason for this? ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? After 10 years, it may be that your body has just grown tolerant to this dosage, which could explain why you're feeling some withdrawal effects, as if you missed a pill. The U.S. FDA lists other as possibly including rebound depression, anxiety, chills, and diarrhea. It may be time for a dosage adjustment, or you may need to try an entirely different medication. I've been on Pristiq 100mg for 8 years with great success. tongiht -for the first time in all that time, I accidentally took a second pill. Do I need to be worried? ## Hello, Alda! How are you? Usually, there isn't much danger from doing this occasionally, we all have our forgetful moments. The real danger would be if you did all the time, or took way more and overdosed. However, it is always best to inform your doctor, just in case. The FDA lists the warning signs of an overdose as possibly including nausea, severe dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, and vomiting. Similar med this too expensive ## Effexor is a similar medication and is available as a generic, under the name Venlafaxine, so that's an option you could ask your doctor about trying. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and dry mouth. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hello, I have been on Pristiq for about 5 or 6 months. Today I accidentally took my pill twice. I'm wondering if I've just messed up big, I don't want to mess up my dosage! ## Hello, Dylan! How are you? Just doing it once won't screw anything up on a permanent basis in regards to your dosage. However, as listed by the NIH, taking too much could cause liver or kidney damage, so you should inform your doctor of what happened, so they can check it out to be safe. Why not covered in Medicare and disability. It's the only antidepressant that really worked for me but after going on Medicare almost impossible to get. ## Yes. It works great but it is so high even with my fed bobs ins that I can't even take it. It sucks ## From an outsider, it's difficult to determine specifically "why" certain insurance companies don't provide coverage for certain medications. However I can only speculate that in some way shape or form they probably don't receive enough benefit or profit from doing so, otherwise it would be listed on the drug formulary. As unfortunate as this sounds, greed is the nature of many insurance companies. I've seen a number of documentaries surrounding medical insurance agencies and how they make their decisi...

Hi, I am a female 44 years old, started taking pristiq about 4 1/2 years ago, decided to wean off at the beginning of December 2015, way... Too many side effects and body pains and weight gain. It's not easy but it's doable , I am on week 3 of 0 pristiq and my brain zaps and ringing in my ears have come to an end Thank God. Now I am dealing with the sadness and the irritability part which have been there all along but are more frequent now, I can't tell you when it's going to be manageable but I can tell you that it will get better because I believe it is! I have suicidal thoughts even when I was taking pristiq but I have to say they have gotten a bit better, the sadness is what overwhelms me sometimes. I've suffered from anorexia in the past and have severe anxiety. After taking the genomind test I can only take a few medications like pristiq. I've lost 6 pounds so far on pristiq during the last 3 months and can't afford to lose anymore. I thought antidepressants were supposed to help give me my appetite back again and not worry about food. Should I ask to switch to something that will make me more hungry? ## Hello, Alyssa! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Pristiq, as reported by the FDA, hasn't been known to cause significant weight gain or loss in may people that take it. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Weight loss is listed as an uncommon side effect that you should report to your doct...

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Depression. I have been on many different meds and am feeling very frustrated about how things are not progressing. I had been hearing good things about Pristiq, so my Dr. gave me a month of samples. I have done some more reading and have some questions. 1. I read that it makes some people sleepy and some people have energy so when is the best time to take it? 2. Looking at the drug interactions, there are 188 major drug reactions, one of which is Adderall, and I am prescribed that too. Is anyone taking Adderall with Pristiq? 3. Is it really the same thing as Effexor? Any help you could give would really be appreciated Thanks Shel ## I take Pristiq and Adderall along with a whole host of other things for Fibromyalgia and Depression. My doctor ...

I just started Pristiq today. I have depression and panic attacks several times a week. I was previously on Lexapro and Lamictil. I felt The Lamictal induced the panic attacks. My doc changes me to Effexor 160mg. My HR went through the roof, nausea, shakiness. My doc switched me to Pristiq. I feel so nauseated. How long will this last? I cannot wait this out for weeks! I have a life: a family, a job! I've seen mainly bad reviews for this medicine! Feeling frustrated! ## Hey Mama, I was on lexapro too and switched to pristiq. I am currently on day 36 of pristig 50 mg and the nausea went away after about a week. So with that part it'll get better. I too have bad anxiety and actually puke from anxiety but I have yet to puke on pristiq. Anxiety wise i don't know if it's help...

Been on pristiq 6-7 weeks on mg. I notice I've been getting better but I'm a lot more angry and agitated. I recently quit lexapro but my dr said that is just me getting angry, I'm concerned if it's the drug or me? Anyone know if pristiq can make you angry ## Hello, Chris 51! How are you? That can be a normal side effect for the first few weeks, when you take such a medication, especially coupled with the withdrawal effects of stopping the Lexapro. It usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks for things to improve. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. 3rd week on pristiq and I'm still getting anxious and puking because of my anxiety. Should I give the 50 mg more time or ask for another solution? ## Hello, Lola84! How are you? It can take 4 to 5 weeks, before this medication reaches its full level of effectiveness in your body, it can also cause some increased anxiety, for awhile, while you're body is getting used to it. Thus, it may be best to give it a couple more weeks to see if things settle down and it helps you, unless your doctor feels otherwise. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

6 months ago my doctor switched me to Pristiq xr 100mg to replace Effexor xr 75mg. The med. always seems to stop working after abot 6 or7 months or so. I have not seen my doc in 6 months and i've noticed my anxiey is terrible. I don't trust co-workers and am paronoid that when I walk into work, they are thinking bad thoughts of me. This stops me from opening up/making friends. My co-workers eventually end up not liking me. I hope someone can relate with me. 5 years ago this was just depression, and the in the last 3 years whatever anxiety I may have had has slowly gotten worse. Is this typical of these medications? I've even considered divorcing just to start a new life/new chapter. I hope someone can help. thank you. ## My wife of 13 years started acting irrational, had ras...
