WAS ON PRISTIQ FOR 3 MONTHS AND WENT OFF BECAUSE INS, WON'T PAY. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTONS GOING OFF THE MEDICINE. ## Nausea and vomiting ## i just posted in another forum, but i have now done 2 weeks of 50 mg (down from 100) - i seriously had almost no side effects. The only things i experienced were: 1) very odd, vivid dreams 2) some night sweats 3) first 2 days some zapping in hands and legs with a little numbness - went away completely after 2 days today is the first day with no pristiq altogether. Again no side effects (so far) except the same zapping and numbness i had when i dropped from 100 to 50. I assume the next few days will be the test. I was advised to go to one 50mg every tother day for another 2 weeks but i may just cut off completely now, i don't think I'm too p...

I have been on pristiq for about 8 years. I'm at 100 mg and have been for some time. I want to drop to 50. Does anybody have experience with this? Also, I have started losing hair after having a full head of nice hair. I know it's due to the pristiq and/or Wellbutrin (buspirone) I take. Can anybody relate? ## Most medications that have an effect on your body chemistry can cause hair loss, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache mood changes, and weight changes. Why are you wanting to lower your dosage? What condition was it prescribed to treat? Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking 150 mg of Pristiq for over 5 years. As of 5 days ago, I have completely weened off the drug (with support from a psychiatrist). I have a lot of the common side effects (fatigue, dizziness, "brain zaps", agitation, depression, suicidal thought, nightmares); however, I also feel delusional. It's hard to describe because of how subtle it is. Essentially, everything around me feels amiss. I apologize for the dramatic description, but it's like the feeling of my nightmares is transcending to my waking life. I don't know how else to describe it. I feel like I'm living in a nightmare. Has anyone else experienced something like this? It is agonizing and disturbing. ## Hello, Daniel! How are you doing? Yes, I have! Not with Pristiq, since I've never...

I was on Pristiq for nearly four years to help stabilize my mood (50mg). The drug was fantastic in achieving the result I was looking for and really gave me the space in my head to come to terms with my issues and time to reflect. The side effects for me were weight gain (15kg) and loss of libido but overall a small price to pay. I decided in December to come off the drug and read as much information as I could find, both professional and user opinion. I spoke with my doctor initially and his advice was to take the medication on alternate days. I chose to ignore that advice based on the way I felt if I missed a day and reading others experiences. Against manufacturers advice I decided to cut the tablet and reduce my dose a quarter at a time. To start with I spoke with my family to make ...

I've been taking Pristiq for a long time, understanding there was no generic. I've even spoken to my Dr who prescribed it about a generic not having been released. Today I changed pharmacies, having provided them with my last bottle of Pristiq for all the info. I was given Desvenlaflax, showing it was generic for Pristiq. I'm confused. I'd like to know if this is actually the generic. I'm familiar with Desvenlafaxine but never heard of what I've now been given. Also I know some generics are not as effective as the brand name. If you have any information concerning the efficacy, please provide. ## That is Desvenlafaxine, they just abbreviated it on this refill. The only way to see how it will work for you is by trying it to see. The FDA lists the typical side effe...

I have tingling and numbness in my hands and my feet muscles hurt. I am on Pristiq, but it has only been a week. Before that, i was on Paxil for concentration and it worked, however now this has come about and I take Vicodin for pain, which does help somewhat. ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, which is an SNRI class antidepressant, these have also been shown to help some people with certain forms of nerve pain, however, it will take about 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full effectiveness in your body. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and dry mouth. Vicodin contains the active ingredients Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, it is a narcotic pain reliever. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. ## I've been tak...

can pristiq and zoloft be taken together? ## Since they both have effects on Serotonin levels in the brain, using them together does increase the risk of someone developing Serotonin Syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Learn more Pristiq details here. Learn more Zoloft details here. So, if they are taken together, then the dosage must be taken under careful consideration by their doctor and they should be monitored closely to watch for any danger signs. Are you on both of these medications? ## I was in a severely bad way, now, mid-30's: Depression, GAD, and ADD/ADHD. Suffered my whole life from symptoms of ALL, obv, only slowly up til my 30s finally getting what I HOPE/ THINK are "all" the proper diagnoses. I have had an insatiable hunger. I have gained weight and have had a lot of gas, and bloating. Went from Effexor XR to Pristiq, not sure if I made the right choice. Any one else had these problems? ## I cannot stop eating. Thought it was PMS but still waiting for my period, bloated and feel like I'm pregnant. I work out 4dper week at the gym; cardio and weight training, feel like it is a waste for time. ## Pristiq is more commonly known to cause loss of appetite, and weight loss, according to FDA reports, but we are all different, so there is a chance it has caused your issues, though it happens very rarely. have been on pristiq for just over 1 month and have had my menstrual period for over 14 days, now. Dr. doesn't think it's related. strange coincidental hormone imbalance? ## It has been known to cause an irregular menstrual cycle, as a side effect, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, and headache. It should regulate itself, after a few months, once your body gets used to the medication, but if it doesn't, you should inform your doctor, as it might not be the right medication for you. Is there anything else I can help with?

just want to know if pritiq can cause numbness in the feet and toes ## No, those aren't normal side effects of this medication. If that's what you're experiencing, then you need to talk to your doctor as soon as possible to see what's causing it. That could be the sign of a dangerous reaction, or due to some other medical condition that requires treatment. Learn more Pristiq details here. How often does it occur? ## Pristiq can most definitely cause tingling in the legs and toes. I know because I have it now and since starting this poison. ## Yes, with the generic, I have tingling on the bottom of my feet and left hand. Off and on. I also gained weight, have a numb feeling with thinking, shortness of breath. I was used to the original Pristiq. They want over $400.00 a mo...

I have been on pristine for many years! My doc had said to go down to 50 mg for 3 weeks then none. I go in to see him in 3 more weeks- I am a mess!! Crying a lot and brain zaps (good term) from other messages. I hope to God this gets better soon. ## Hello, Sue! How are you doing? Yes, if you were on it for such a long time and abruptly stop taking it, then such rebound and withdrawals effects will usually occur. That was still a relatively high amount to have you stop on. Learn more Pristiq details here. The preferred method now is usually to do a very gradual taper, by slowly lowering the medication and starting to skip doses. Did he give a reason he was having you stop at 50mgs? He could have had you use the regular release formulation and just cut them to lower it further for awhile....

I have been on Pristiq now since November of 2008...not quite 5 months...and I have put on 15 lbs since starting it. DESPITE working out with a trainer at the gym twice a week weight training, 3 days a week of cardio AND counting calories. My doc assured me that I would also have a decreased appetite on Pristiq, which I have yet to find true...so he has now increased my dosage to 400 mg. Does anyone have anything to add to this?? I'm just frustrated! ## i was switched to pristiq a few months ago and just recently wellbutrin was added - i take 1 of each pill per day - it has done nothing to me in gaining weight - i am continuously losing but i have some emtional things going on right now which i believe the weight loss is contributed too - unfortunately i have run into many that have...

Are Pristiq and Wellbutrin in the same category? ## No I have been on 100 mg of Pristiq for 2 years. Pristiq is for Seritonin. Wellbutrin is for Dopamine. Some of us who are bipolar, our bodies do not make enough of either. Pristiq is for my Seritonin which helps with sleep. Will start Wellbutrin XR 150mg tablets on September 2nd. Dopamine makes a person happy. you laugh more, enjoy life more and all that. All this was explained to me by my neurologist and psychiatrist. ## They both treat similar conditions, as Charlie has stated, but they are not the same. However, this does not mean they are always safe for any certain person to take together, that is entirely up to your medical history and your doctor. The FDA lists typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsi...

This is NOT a good medicine. I felt more depressed on it and had several side effects, nausea, lack of appetite, dizziness, etc. Then, after being on it for 2 weeks, I had a severe allergic reaction to it. So not fun! No more Pristiq for me. Throw the stuff away! ## I went on Pristiq for 10 days - had shortness of breath, and all the other side side effects. Dr. office told me to stop 'cold turkey' - It's been 7 daysoff and I am still not feeling normal! What's up with that?? They told me it would only be a couple of days. So I call them and tell them I am still having withdrawal symptoms - they act like I am crazy! And it must be something else wrong with me! I have NEVER felt like this - until taking pristiq! When will it end? My advice - dont even start the stuff! But...

I was on 50mg Pristiq and didn't realise I was having anger issues on days I forgot to take it. I was only on it due to injuries stopping me from working and suffering from pain and financial issues. It broke up my relationship. After the break up I went up to 100mg. After some months I started to space out/blackout in the afternoon on days I forgot to take it. I always took it at 7am. Well my partner and I had gotten back together and it happened a couple of times in the 4 or 5 weeks we were back together. The 3rd time was the only time I had alcohol the day I'd forgotten to take the Pristiq and I had a violent episode. My life is in ruin and no one is listening. They think I was just drunk. Violence was not normal behaviour for me but drinking half a bottle of bourbon was. I o...

I started on Lexapro 5mg then quickly to 10mg for derealization/depersonalisation depression about 15 months ago. It wore off really fast and my doctor put me on Pristiq. It didn't really hit the spot straight away but over time I felt back to my normal self. I started getting more frequent brain fog and upped the dose until I was on 200mg a day but after a while any amount of Pristiq made me fatigued dizzy and it got worse until I'd get more brain fog, extreme fatigue, dizzy, nausea, sweats and vomit. I've gone cold turkey for 2 day's now. No brain fog at all now but still dizzy and extremely fatigued constantly. I'm wondering if I have some type of vertigo like pseudo vertigo or pseudo cushings syndrome. They seem to be the only things I can find that possibly tick th

This is my second try on Pristiq. The first time round, I did not feel any positive effect until four months of taking the medication (200mg). After a little over four months, I woke up one day feeling less anxious, brighter, and more positive about my future. However, with the good, came the bad: extreme exhaustion. I could barely get out of bed, barely walk, barely function. I stopped the meds because I couldn't deal with the lack of energy. I decided to try Pristiq again after a failed course of a different medication, and the same has happened again: meds seemed to "kick in" after four months, including the accompanying exhaustion. Has this happened to anyone else? Did Pristiq's effects take so long to kick in for you? Does the exhaustion go away? Any words would be ...

I have been prescribed 50mg of pristiq for severe anxiety. Often I've seen a common side effect on the libido. Can someone tell me how you felt, if anything? What changed? Is it permanent? Did you have any other negative side effects? ## The FDA warns that it can lower the libido, other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Yes, they are all reversible and not permanent. Can anyone that's taken it chime in with their experiences? ## I've deffinelty experienced the nausea, causing me to vomit and take time off work. I've noticed my mood is very mellow which I've never in my life felt!

Is pristiq 25mg equal to effexor xr 37.5mg? Will the pristiq be stronger? Insurance will not pay for effexor but will pay for pristiq. ## When it comes to these medications, it really depends on which one works best for you and the only thing you can do is try the Pristiq to see if it helps you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. Have you started the Pristiq, yet?
