I increaase my dosage of pristiq to 100 mg and got a terrible headache for two datys Is this typical? Does it go away? Does pristiq come in lower dosages ## Normal dose is 50 mg every day. Doses of greater than 50 mg per dayare rarely more effective, however my increase the likelyhood of additional adverse reactions. Consider 50 mg every other day if poorly tolerated in the elderly. Taper dose gradually to D/C. Do not cut/crush/or chew. I've been on Pristiq, 50mg, daily for almost two months. I have a history of atrial fibrillation. Is there any danger of Prestiq causing my heart to go into A-Fib? My Doctor has changed my prescription from Pristiq to Citalopram. She says there is no difference in the 2 drugs other than the price. I am unsure whether to change medicine. ## That is not entirely true, though they both are used to treat the same conditions. Pristiq contains Desvenlafaxine, this is a Selective Seratonin, Norephinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor. The Citalopram only acts on Seratonin. Many people, however, can use either one, though some people do need the added benefits of the SSNRI. Did she give a reason for why she is switching them? You can read more about them here: ## She changed the medication, due to the Pristiq not working like she thought it would.

I am taking other prescribed drugs and know that I'm allergic to sulfur based drugs. Thank you ## I have just discovered I am allergic to corn and all of their by products. Is there any medication for depression that doesn't have corn starch in it. ## The only natural anti-depressant that has no corn starch is St John's Wort (Hypericum). You need to check with your doctor if it conflicts with your medication (if you are taking any) or any other health condition before you try it. Not to be used with MAOI-type anti-depressants especially, but also not with any other anti-depressants. ## As to a prescription medication...
