My Son went to the Dr. for anxiety and depression, pristiq created more problems for him, panic attacks, insomnia, loss of appetite and he had black outs, got into some legal trouble and says he does not remember anything about that night. Anyone else had this type of problem? ## I was first prescribed 50 mg and now have been raised to 100 mg of Pristiq a day and 60 mg of Buspar for anxiety and depression. I have noticed that I have been getting irritated and grouchy more often while on the medicine. I have been on for about 3 months now and have set up an appointment to discuss this with my doctor. Not happy at all with this combination. I also had a loss in appetite, but no blackouts. ## had a severe seizure while on pristiq, had been taking the medication for about a year. I was gett...

I've been on 50 mg for a while and haven't been doing as good as I once was- my dr wants me to go to 100 mg but now that they finally make a 25 mg pill. Do you think 75 mg would be good? I'd prefer to be on as small of a dose as I can- lemme know guys or girls if anyone bumped to 75mg with success or 100 mg too when 50 mg wasn't working as good. Thanks and all comments would help out a lot! ## Hello, Chris! How are you? If your doctor agrees, there is no reason to go to the 100mgs, trying 75mgs is perfectly fine and will leave you somewhere to go, if you become tolerant to that dosage. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

is pristiq a narcotic I NEED TO KNOW ## Hello, Joe! How are you? No, Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, is it an SNRI antidepressant. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## is it safe to take butal-50-apap-325-caff-40. And pristiq at the sametime? ## Hello, Carla! How are you feeling? I didn't find any interactions listed in the databases, such as the one provided by MedScape, but it's always best to double check such information for you own safety. You may experience a worsening of some side effects, such as the nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth that they both could cause. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Joe, I take for a week and feel awful ## i t...

Is it ok to take cialis once a day 5 mg while taking pristiq 50 mg ?? ## Hello, Jack! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. However, it should be fine, if your doctor approves of your taking both. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cialis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stuffy nose and priapism. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been on Pristiq for seven years. It worked for about a year or so but the last 6 years have been horrible. It's been like living in a bubble devoid of happy or strong emotions to anything. I'm now trying to come off Pristiq to switch to a new drug. It's my third day off Pristiq and I'm a horrible mess. I weened for two weeks all the while taking new drug without problem. Now that I do not have Pristiq in my system the side effects are too much to bear. I have severe headache, brain zaps, the swooshing when I move my eyes, anxious, horrible dreams, sweating, cold/hot, nausea, crying, and last but not least irritable. I don't know how I'm going to make it through this. Please, please if you know what I know...never get on this drug!

Thank you for all the information and taking the time to post experiences and feedback. I generally DO NOT have good results with these types of medications so my doctor thought we'd try this but I started taking it a week ago today (08.31.15) and have been having side effects as others have mentioned. I have increased pain in the mornings that is causing me to take other pain medications that I didn't have to take before, weird dreams when I NEVER used to dream before along with cloudy feeling brain and blurry vision. I think based on these side effects that have already started on just 25MG that I am going to quit cold starting tomorrow. My doctor was going to keep me on this dose for another week and then increase it to 50MG but I'm already having issues now and don't...

Till now I can't find any story about someone who succesfully stopped with taking pristiq. I was on 50 mg for 4 years and I took 3/4 for about 3 1/2 months. That went fine. Then another 3 1/2 months I took a half. Also that went fine. (in both situations I needed some weeks with some side effects but not too bad). Now I started with a quarter and the side effects are huge. I have a constant pain in my head. I sweat a lot and so on. (I know it's not good to cut the tablets but the first two steps were ok for me). We all know how we suffer to get off from pristiq so I hope there are some people with possitive results in stopping with it. What I really want to know is this : Does anyone succesfully stopped and HOW LONG did you need before the side effects were gone. Thanks so much ...

I have been on pristiq for 2 and a half months for severe OCD and anxiety panic attacks. Before taking it I became very depressed did not want to leave the house because I would be scared of the environment and what could be in the air and what harm it could do. I also became very moody and upset when my family did not follow what I was doing And would go and do things I deemed as unsafe. I stopped eating and lost 15 kilos over 6 months .I was to scared the food was contaminated and my hands were dirty . So I would wash my hands till they bled with small cuts all over them. The pristiq took about 3 weeks to have effect I woke up with heeps of energy and started eating well again and those environment issues were still there however I would not ponder over them for 24hours or even days I...

I want to know if I can take pristiq with brentillix? ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? No, these two should not be taken together, since they both increase serotonin levels and that creates the risk of your developing serotonin syndrome, which may be fatal. Has your doctor prescribed both of these medications? The FDA lists the typical side effects of antidepressants as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Yes, if you weren't taking it for awhile, then started again, it is normal to experience side effects, again. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Pristiq as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, dry mouth and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ok, I would like to hear back from anyone who is successfully taking Pristiq...I just did an ID Genetix test through my doctor and it tested for depression first with anxiety as my backup issue. It gave me results on which medications I can successfully take to treat these issues according to my genetic makeup. Kind of a lifesaver after years of fooling around with different meds, different doses and docs who really had no idea what to do for me. So, Pristiq came back as my best choice to treat my main issue - Depression. I started taking 50mg daily on 6/28/15. Took it at bedtime since that's when I was taking my previous med, just thought I would try that first since there was really no indication other than to take at the same time each day. About two weeks ago, the drowsiness dur...

Wanted to share my experience with coming of this drug with others because I have looked towards others experiences the past few days which have helped me a ton! I started taking Lexpro around the age of 17 never had any real issues besides being tired a lot. I stayed on Lexpro for over 3 years. After complaining about being tired my doctor wanted me to try Pristiq saying it might give me more energy. The switch over between Lexpro and Pristiq was easy I don't recall any struggles. Now I have been taking Pristiq for about 3 years. I have always taken 50mg once a day. If I followed that dosage I was totally fine. But if for whatever reason I missed a day I was shortly reminded by the terrible dizziness an nausea. About a year ago I told the same doctor that put me the medication I wa...

Are there any women out there whom have become pregnant while on pristiq and continued use during the pregnancy? I just found out I was pregnant and the dr wants me to continue taking it. I am scared of birth defects and would like to hear others stories. Please Ty Jo ## Hello, Jo! How are you? Congrats on the baby!! The FDA does list this medication as being in category C, which means risk has not been ruled out, but conversely, that means that it also hasn't been known to definitively cause any problems in people. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Can anyone that's taken it while pregnant chime in?

Each time Walmart refillsy 100mg Pristiq prescription, I feel side effects as if being started in a new medication. Anyone else have this unusual problem? ## Hello, Jeb! How are you? It is rare, but some people always experience some medication side effects, just due to their own body chemistry. However, are you receiving pills each time from different manufacturers, or have they been the same? Are you making sure not to run out, before picking up a refill? The FDA classifies Pristiq as an SNRI antidepressant and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.

Hi I was on pristiq 200mg for 1 year for severe panic disorder. I slowly came off it by tapering down slowly with the help of a great psychiatrist. Im now extremely happy and healthy and anxiety and drug free however I have not had my period since I stopped Pristiq 4 months ago! Im definitely not pregnant but very concerned as this is completely unusual for me. Im 29 years old and have had my period like clockwork every month my entire adult life. Im from Australia but am now teaching English in China. Id love to be able to talk to my psychiatrist however its impossible from China! I am very worried now and desperate for some expert opinions on this matter. Is this a side effect of coming off such a large dose?? ## Hi I am a 29 yo female from Australia and was on pristiq 200mg for 18 mo...

Is it safe to take 100mg of Pristiq and 10mg of Buspar and 250mg of Seroquel together? I didn't know how much serotonin all those combined would be or if those 3 meds are ok to take together. Thanks! ## Hello, Beka! How are you? Have they all been prescribed for you? Two that can raise your serotonin levels are the Pristiq and the Buspar. It isn't that they can't be taken together, but that your doctor should carefully adjust the dosage and they should be monitoring your regularly in case any problems develop. According to the FDA the symptoms for Serotonin syndrome may possibly include increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils and twitching. They will also be of very rapid onset.

I recently switched from being on/off Prozac for 20 years to taking Celexa, all I wanted to do was sleep all the time after starting it. The Dr. put me on Prestiq, I am on day 15 and not noticing a difference, still want to sleep. Any suggestions on what to try next? ## It will take about 4 to 6 weeks, before this medication reaches its full level of efficacy in your body, for you to know if it's going to work for you. If you don't see any improvement after being on it for at least 4 weeks, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists ts typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. What are you taking it to treat?

The men and women of the US, Coalition and NATO forces engaged in military operations and civilian affairs around the world are my heroes - with that said, there are also folks that operate behind the scenes supporting our country's heroes. These folks, are Civilians. I supported US and Coalition forces in a civilian capacity through 6 consecutive civilian deployments to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. I also supported US and NATO forces in a civilian capacity through 4 consecutive deployments to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. We don't hear much about the civilians, and as one of those civilians, I can tell you first hand that the mental, emotional and physical suffering and injuries go mostly unreported. Making matters worse, most of ...

Just started last night 50 mg. Took around 8:30 pm. I woke around 1:50am had to use bathroom. Then tossed, turned all night, brain won't shut off. I think I finally feel asleep around 8:30am woke up 9:40 am... could not get out of bed. Made myself get up. Feel weird, tired but awake. I don't like this feeling. I am laying in bed and was trying to nap since 2pm, no freaking luck! I just want to sleep!!! ## I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. However, this does occur frequently, when starting such a medication. It tends to alter how soon you enter the REM sleep phase and how much time you spent in it, which sometimes results in sleep that isn't restful and/or insomnia. However, it usually improves after about 3 to 4 weeks, once your body gets used to the ...

I've been on Effexor for 11-12yrs for anxiety & myoclonus til less than 1 week ago I changed to pristiq, due to the horrible disabling side effects of Effexor (for 3 wks) if I miss 1 tablet. Pristiq has the same metaboliser as Effexor but diff main ingredient. So I had no noticeable side effects jumping from Effexor to pristiq except shortness of breath and tight chest. Which mind you is not nice. And documents state I should tell my doc straight away. Well it's Easter weekend and he's not in so I'm just hanging on til tomorrow, til he's in again. I hope I just live with all the other stuff like the constant over sweating, no Lobido, constipation.
