Norco 10 325 Mg And Suboxone Interaction (Top voted first)

Updated

My doctor prescribes me Suboxone 8/2 mg film and Norco 10/325 mg together for pain relief and to prevent addiction. I personally feel more pain relief from both together rather than one or the other. And doing research I found that a few patients get my results from both simultaneously having something to do with the brain receptors. Any feedback and/or where I can find any web information. I have lost where I found the research. Thanks.

I have used suboxone for a day and norco the next day and vise versa and have done it for a week or two and switching back and forth for me works fine I take the suboxone first thing in the morning that way when I wake up the next day it's been 24 hours since I used it and I find that waiting 24 hours to take norco is plenty of time, everyone could be different but it's worked for me. Even if I take norco in the afternoon I can still take the suboxone the next morning and feel fine

hello im sorry for your pain I do know that using an opiate on suboxone can actually put you in withdrawls I use suboxone but have severe chronic pain the only thing thaty works for me is ultram or tramadol it listed as an opiate but I donty think it actually is its rating was just rec ently changed bcause of abuse ... the suboxone does not effect the effects of it I am an addict but have the problem of chronic pain cause of a dibiltating bone disease in my hips so im stuck battling the beast of addiction or battling the pain methadone works both for pain and addiction but is a difficult drug to come off of I suggest asking your dr about methadone so you can lower the amount of pills you take or try ultram/tramadol with your suboxone good luck in controlling your pain and keeping the dependence in chec k god bless

I have been taking suboxone for about 10 weeks and it was increased to 24mg about 2 weeks ago. I was dumb and did not have them put up and got the last weeks worth taken during a get together. I had one 8mg strip in my purse. I can not get mine refilled for 8 days. What should I do? I am wondering if I should take my one strip tomorrow and have nothing for the next 7 days? I have only been seeing this sub doc for about a month since being out of treatment and do not feel he will be understanding. I am completely new to Suboxone and do not know much about it. I am worried about withdrawals and pain. I was on Lortab for about 5 years and started abusing them about the last two years and got up to 10-15 daily of Noc 10/325 before putting myself in treatment. I was thinking that maybe I could use Lortab for a few days then switch back to the Suboxone when I can get my script refilled next week but 1) I really don't want to and 2) it seems from reading some posts I have just been looking up online that is more complicated than I first thought. Like I said I am also wondering how much pain and withdrawal I would go into the 7 days without anything if I were to just try to wait it out. Please HELP!!!! I need advise badly. I see my doc tomorrow am but do not feel I can be honest with him about what happened and the resulting jam it has put me in.

Hi John,

My findings state that there are actually potentially unsafe interactions between Hydrocodone and Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone). Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of:

"Using Hydrocodone together with Naloxone can reverse the effects of Hydrocodone. If you are a physically dependent patient you may experience withdrawal symptoms. This can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, aches, fever, runny nose, sneezing, nervousness, irritability, shivering, and abdominal cramps. Talk with your doctor before using these medications together. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."

"Using Buprenorphine together with Hydrocodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you."

I know this doesn't necessarily answer your question in terms of pain relief, but it may be a good idea to present this type of information to your doctor who may or may not be aware of such interactions. If your doctor needs any proof, there are also a number of Drug Interaction Checkers that can be found on Google to verify this.

Hope this helps!

Just be honest because you will be given a drug panel and you don't want a dirty result. Tell him what happened and tell him u cannot do without because you are gonna go thru it for them for 7 days and try to take half of the one u have. The next time try to make it stretch if you can so it ain't so bad. A lil is better than none.

They are both highly addictive, and should not be taken together!

I've been using Suboxone for two years and recently had an oral abscess and was prescribed Norco 5mg-325mg and I'm FINE. No withdrawal nothing. Unless these people have literally taken these together they wouldn't know other than googling it. Swear it's fine. It will not throw you into withdrawal.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I AM AWARE OF THE INTERACTIONS AND I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THEM THOUGH I'M IN SO MUCH PAIN FOR 8 YRS NOW AND EVERY DAY IS A DIFFERANT LEVEL OF PAIN, IT'S HARD TO PIN POINT IF I MAY OR MAY NOT ACTUALLY HAVE ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS. I'LL KEEP EVERYONE INFORMED.

I recently decided to stop using norco even though I'm in a lot of pain. I'm on my second day of suboxone. My question is can I use norcos one day and suboxone the next but never mixing the two.

How did ur doctor give you both of those when one is a opiate blocker I don't understand that ur pain meds wouldn't work an u would go into a withdrawal if he did that I never thought that was possible maybe I need to research my suboxone again

Buprenorphine IS NOT an opiate blocker, it is a strong opioid, partial agonist. It does have naloxone, that does block opiates from hitting the receptors. But when taken under the tongue very little naloxone gets in. It's really in there to stop people from taking it intravenously.

You will experience the worst withdrawal of your life. I've been on subs for 5 years and the withdrawal is horrible, if I was you I would stop the subs and just withdrawal from the loratabs cause there no where near as bad. Take it from someone whose been there. Quit the Suboxone while you can.

I just started suboxone, I'm on my 3rd day of 2.5, 3 x a day. My pain level is so high still from the original back injury and the sub is not helping that much with the pain for 5 years I had been taking 8-10 norcos a day 10/325 and thought it would help to stop so I started the suboxone, but I'm in so much back pain...... I'm wondering if I could take norco if I wait 12 hours after the 2.5mg suboxone? I just can't stand the pain and I really thought the suboxone would help me deal with it and get me off the norco. Not sure what to do. I have plenty of suboxone and I guess I could take more, and I have plenty of norco..... I don't want to be on this stuff any longer but I have serious pain issues from a back injury. I don't want to be that person that stays on meds for the rest of my life.... :-( any ideas?

I got off norco with only 4 suboxone. After that i was fine. I feel great. You dont need suboxone everyday, you just need to detox. And you will be fine. You will not get withdrawals. Especially if you been on suboxone for a month.

I was very confused and scared of this exact situation. I had intense oral surgery. My dub dr told me to keep taking my subs as always and take the hydrocodone for the pain as well until i could handle the pain. I was afraid yo do it but the pain was horrible and i had no choice. It did help with my mouth pain. It still foes not make sense but it did or is working.I have only been taking 10mgs every 6hrs and i plan on being done in a couple dayd. Pharmacist and surgeon were not thrilled with it but like i said i double checked and it has worked for pain. No warm and fuzzy feeling thank god. I have come to far to get back on the opiods for pain again. However i was not totally sedated like they said i would be either which freaked me out..i dont ever want to go through it again. Just my recent experience...

Hello,

I have been on Norco for 5 yrs now along with 60 Mg Morphine Sulfate. I am prescribed 8 Norcos daily and 2 Morphine Sulphate daily. I take my meds as prescribed. I got my prescriptions filled the other day and am just now starting the new script as I had some left over. The bottle says Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen 10/325 Mg. Is this a Pharmacy mistake. I am wondering what could happen if I take these. Also, I have a bone disease and will they help with the pain as much as the others. I still have the Morphine Sulphate along with it. I am kinda scared to take these together as I never have. Any advice would be great.
