I am 21 and I had been on Loestrin 24 fe for about a year and a half and I started getting anxiety and depression. I also had some vision problems that happened to me as well. After I realized that all my symptoms were because of the pill I immediately stopped. I have been off of it for about 6 months now and I am still struggling. I have had major anxiety and panic attacks and I have also had huge mood swings, foggy thinking and extreme irritability. I have no idea what is going on but these pills have really messed me up. Has anyone else had these problems? I just want to feel better and any advice would be really great. Thanks. ## I'm 21 and started taking this bc in January and sense then I have also developed anxiety! I also have not had a period since March 8 and I'm not p...

I'm about to start my third pack of pills. I was wondering if anyone else felt nauseous while on the iron pills? ## I get nausea, every time I take iron pills. And that is three months per year. To avoid this problem, I normally take my iron pills right before I go to bed, this way, I don’t feel anything! I hope this will help. ## It's normal with iron pills. They are tough on the stomach. Best to take them with food or milk. If that doesn't help then I think it's OK to coat your stomach with Pepto first. They also make them in capsule form. ## Yes, that can be a normal side effect, according to FDA reports, you may also experience dizziness, headache, joint pain, and constipation. It is even worse, if you have the iron infusions, because those side ef...

My doctor told me to take my first pill as soon as my period strted, how long till it is effective ? ## I started Loestrin 24 Fe this month. I just finished my second week, meaning I am halfway through my first pack. Last night I had sex with my boyfriend, and we used a condom as backup. But the condom broke, and he said he ejaculated before he pulled out. The info sheet that came with my birth control says that the birth control should have been effective after the first 7 days, so I should be fine. But I also see people saying its not effective until the second pack. I am nervous...should I take Plan B, just to be sure? ## My doctor put me on loestrin today but i wanted to see everyones comments about it before i started taking it, im scared i dont want any acne or weight gain.....iam...

i have only been taking this pill for 9 days i have extremely tender breasts it feels like they are heavy and full of milk. anyone else have this?? ## Yes, very heavy like milk laden. They look great but hurt to touch or even put on bra. This started at day 32 (2nd pack) of chantix. I have quit so am thinking about cutting down on the chantix. ## This can happen with birth control pills and some other drugs as well. As a side effect, it should wear off as your body gets used to the new medication, if it doesn't, then you will need to speak to your doctor about trying other options. ## I had the same problem with these pills. My breasts hurt so bad i didnt even want a tshirt touching them. My second month on loestrinfe i bled for 12days and then no period when i was supposed to...Jus...

2 wks ago i had a stroke, i am incredibly fit and eat healthy all my doc reports said they had no idea why at a the young age of 40, i would have a stroke. i have no health issues. i decided it's probably the pill since every side effect of any pill is blood clots and strokes. BINGO! I CALLED MY OB AND SHE SAID STOP IMMEDIATELY. i am also CALLING THE FDA # ON THE LOESTRIN SITE FOR THESE TERRIBLE SIDE EFFECTS. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU END UP IN THE HOSPITAL ## Wow, I am so sorry, that's horrible. However, the possibility of blood clots and stroke happening are true of any hormonal based contraceptive, not just Loestrin. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. It's great that you're reporting it and fantastic of you to post a warning here for others. How are you doing?...

Hi. I took two of the blue pills in one day by accident. Do I continue the pack like normal the next day? Will anything happen? ## Yes, generally the FDA instructs you to continue taking them as prescribed, but you may experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I took my Sunday white pill yesterday, skipping my placebo I was supposed to take, what do I do? ## HI, Annie! How are you? There's really nothing to worry about here, it will really just alter your cycle by a day for the new month of taking them, but you'll still be protected against pregnancy. Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, you should just toss that placebo pill and continue with the active ones. ## I'm on lo loestrin fe. I was intimate in Saturday, my last week of the pack was from Sunday onward. I accidentally took my 2 white pills a day early, on Tuesday I should've taken my last blue pill and accidentally took a white pill that day and Wednesday so today Thursday my last active pill day I had the last blue pill still remaining and took it since the whi...

I am one of the customers unhappy with the discontinuation of Loestrin 24 Fe. I saw so many negative reviews with those who switched to Minastrin that I refused to take it despite what my nurse was trying to say. I researched and knew a generic was coming. I have waited since October of last year for Lomedia and picked up my prescription and pills 3 weeks ago. I still haven't taken them because I'd like to know about the experience on these pills. Has anyone taken Lomedia? Please share your experience so we can all be informed. ## Hello, Kimmie! How are you? From what I can find, there is no difference better the Lomedia and LoEstrin FE, the active ingredients and the dosages are the same. The FDA has approved it as a generic equivalent, so you shouldn't have any problems wi...

I've been taking lomedia 24 for a few months and I always get my period on the third week of the active pills. I don't understand why I'm still getting periods while I'm taking active pills. Also, Is the entire last week (3whites and 4 brown pills) placebo pills? Because I think since I got my period now, I might as well start a new pack on Sunday and skip the last week since I've already gotten my period, right? Can I just take them pack to pack (first 21 pills then start a new pack) and never get a period? Because I would love thattttt! I just really need advice. ## Hello, Tawanda! How are you? Irregular bleeding can be a normal side effect of hormonal contraceptives according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and PMS-like symptom...

birth control ## How do I take Loestrin24 fe? ## Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, if they did not provide you with enough details, then please speak with your pharmacist. ## how long does it take for loestrin24fe to work, like how long do I have to wait before I can safely have intercourse? ## Generally, you should finish the entire first cycle, before enough is in your system to adequately protect against pregnancy, once you reach the end of the pill pack, where you on the period week pills, then you are fully protected, but be careful not to miss any. One white tablet should be taken daily for 24 consecutive days followed by one brown tablet daily for 4 consecutive days. Withdrawal bleeding should usually occur within three days following discontinuation of white tablets ...

I started taking minastrin 24 few about 6 months ago. I spotted irregularly for the first 2 months but I have had no period since. I've been without a period for 4 months. I even take the four inactive pills and still don't start. I thought the inactive pills were for " period time ". Am I wrong? I hope nothing is wrong. ## Hello, Jenna! How are you? Unless your doctor feels there is some reason to be concerned, it's most likely nothing. Some women just don't experience periods, when taking hormonal contraceptives. Side effects may include irregular cycles, nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating, weight gain and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My ob/gyn is never concerned with anything. He just blows me off when I want to ask him a questio...

In January I went to my gynocologist because I hadn't had my period for a few months and he decided to switch my birth control to Loestrin 24 Fe. The first 3 months I had my period normally, but I have not had one since. After reading a post on here, I also think the birth control could be why I have developed anxiety! I have also been sick off and on with dizzy spells, my migraines have gotten worse, and I have phases when I get extremely nauseous and sick after eating. When I talked to my Doctor's nurse about missing my period she told me that it was normal? I have had off and of spotting and thinking/feeling like I am about to start but I never do. Used to if I missed ONE pill I would start the next day and that hasn't happened. I'm pretty worried that this is the rea...

After my favorite OC, Loestrin 24 Fe was discontinued my doctor has prescribed Minastrin 24 Fe. My body did not respond well to it at all (acne, weight gain, mood swings)... After trying a few other OC's and reading so many reviews on how great Loestrin 24 Fe was compared to Minastrin and others I thought if we got enough people to vote to bring Loestin 24 Fe back, maybe the company would consider it.... It is a shot in the dark but definitely worth taking... Respond if you would like to see Loestrin 24 Fe back on the market.

I am 39 and Have been on loEstrin 24 Fe for many years to now find out that it's no longer being made and was being switched to Minastrin 24 Fe. After being on this pill almost 3 wks, I have been an emotional hot mess , I cry for no reason at all , have gained weight , have had massive headaches, my boobs feel a lot fuller and bigger , stomach tenderness and cramping. Trying to figure out what to have my doctor switch me to ... Help lol ## Hello, Funmomof2! How are you doing? I'm so sorry about the problems you're having. It sounds like your just getting a bad hormonal balance from the Minastrin, from the symptoms you list, it's most likely too much estrogen. Your should be able to suggest one you can switch to that has a lower amount of it and will be closer to the LoEs...

I've been taking Loestrin FE for about 3 years now. I haven't had my period for about a year and a half. I haven't missed any pills in the last month. In spite of this, my boobs started hurting and got a little bigger and I got my period again. And it's heavier than it ever was on the pill. Am I pregnant? What's going on? ## Hello, Lauren! How are you? If you haven't missed any pills and experienced a period, then it isn't like that you're pregnant. These types of symptoms can be normal side effects of oral contraceptives, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. It sounds like you're just experiencing a hormonal fluctuation, but it would be best to consult your doctor to be sure there's nothing...

I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 3 months now. I had irregular spotting for the first 2 months, and probably because I was fairly bad about taking the pill at the same time every day, and missed a couple days. But this past month I have been very consistent in taking it every single day at around the same time. Despite this, I have not had any bleeding or spotting during the iron pill days....is this normal? I feel as if my body is just finally adjusted to the pill, but should I be concerned? I'm highly stressed out about this, and I took a test this morning, but it came up "invalid" though I'm pretty sure I did everything correct with it. Any help or advice would be great! I'm not in the same town as my gyno since I'm on summer break, but I just need answers! #...

I started taking loestrin 24 fe about five years ago and then made the switch to minastrin 24 fe when the company discontinued loestrin. Typically, I will have little to no bleeding during periods and it always takes at least 3 iron pill days for bleeding to even begin. Recently, however, I had extremely heavy bleeding and cramping after just one iron pill that has continued for several days. This has happened one other time. Is it normal to go 6 months barely needing a panty liner during periods to having one so heavy that even ultra tampons (more absorption than super plus!) can only suffice for a couple of hours? If my body does what it did last time, I will go back to no periods after this horrid one. ## Hello, Sunshine! How are you? Yes, that can happen, if your estrogen levels sur...

So I have calculated it out and it seems like my period will be here right in the middle of my week vacation =[. Is there anyway I can manipulate it so I get my period either a week before or a week after my vacation? I was thinking just skipping the brown pills and just continuing with the white ones and when my vacation is over to start the brown ones. ## Yes, you can do that, as long as your doctor approves. Many women use oral contraceptives to adjust when they will get their periods for reasons very similar to yours. However, you may still have some spotting. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking loestrin 24 fe 13 months ago. I've had regular periods up until 3 months ago. 3 months ago my period was 2 weeks late (due to extreme stress from finals week I'm assuming). 2 months ago i missed my period (I got my wisdom teeth removed the day I was suppose to get my period and I was also put on antibiotics for my teeth). And now I missed it this month too (I flew out of the country the day I was suppose to get my period). I haven't missed any pills and I take it at the same time every single day. I am sexually active and have taken two pregnancy tests, both negative. I haven't been sexually active in almost 2 full months. I show no pregnancy symptoms (I don't think pregnancy is the issue). I have been more physically active, eating healthier, and lo...
