Yes, I am on lexamil for 2 days but I amazed of its effectiveness as I feel a difference. Before i was slipping downhill to a depressive episode of depression. I was hopeless, helpless and oversensory. However, I am scared if it makes one gain weight. What can I do to limit this weight gain?

I have been on it for 5 days for anxiety/depression connected with menopause - feel ok although couple of small side effects, dont exactly know what to expect. it is a new drug described by my doc as being cleaner than previous ones and very effective

It is a normal side effect for antidepressants to affect your sex-drive, if it is becoming a real problem for you, then please speak to your doctor.

I have suffered with chronic depression as long as I can remember and have been on many, many medications, until going on Cipralex about 4 years ago and now for the last 6 months on Lexamil. Lexamil is a cheaper version of Cipralex and I can not note the difference between the 2 at all - if only this medication was available many years ago - my life would overall have been so much better. Who ever suffers with depression - don't think that you are brave by going off your medication - as I have tried NUMEROUS times - don't, its not worth it........and why - it's helping you, isn't it?? My Pschiatrist explained eg. if a diabetic needs medication to balance his sugar level, they don't stop when they are feeling better - that's stupid. I was told that I would have to be on antidepressants for the rest of my life - I'm fine and living a 'normal' life now (at long last!) because I am not messing with the chemical imbalance in my brain by stopping and starting antidepressants. At the age of 60, I wish I had this type of 'get up and go' in me years ago, when they were still trying to see what would help me. BUT I also tried to be 'strong' and go off the meds - which, now I now, I should never have done. I weigh 68kg - height 166cm and in my 5th year of belly dancing. I know that very heavy feeling of dread, sadness, suicidal tendencies, severe unexplained crying, worthlessness etc. and I just don't ever want to go there again. If it helps - stay on it!

@Alisia-I am on Lexamil for a month now-i had nausia and migraine headaches-Dr gave me something for it and I just wanted to lie down every afternoon-im happy to say I pushed through and nausia went away and eventually headaches and neck pains-i used to massage my neck and it helped as well as medication.I did get a migraine now today,but I woke up very anxious.So far I am much better than on my previous meds-Aurorix!My moods are usually worst in mornings,but I find it lifting faster than previous year!I also only went to 10mg after 3weeks only and uping to 10mg went very smoothly. Cannot understand that people pick up weight with Lexamil,I'm still waiting for it to happen,cause I'm still very skinny @ 40years off age.I count it as a blessing.Hope it helped!

Hi Marli-I am on Lexamil since 2013 Christmas and I am feeling much better now-it takes time-take every day as it comes and there is 3 legs depression stands on-1 Physical 2 Emotional and 3 Spiritual-If you do some walking,craft etc and read books and get Spiritual food for the soul-there is HOPE!I still have my off days-but it doesn't last so long anymore-and I try to renew my mind.Hang in there-it will get better!

The side effects was just too bad during the day and I travel a lot so I cant be dizzy or shivering..so drinking it at night works perfect for me...weird but Lexamil seems to control my appetite rather than give me one...but as I said, I eat banting.

At last i am weaned from Leximal. Now only on Wellbutrin and it's going well. You get your days but in general no complaints. This battle cannot be won without the help of the Living God.

Ive been on lexamil for 5 months now..is working great, no change in sex drive, allthough I seem to be gaining weight quite fast. Was very nauseas the first few days, couldnt sleep, couldnt eat, and almost died from anxiety...but after the first week I could really feel it working. Works great if combined with a diet with alot of chillies in it (releases serotonin) and obviously exercise.

Go for it Stephanie! I feel so much better. It's like being a new person. But no climax yet.
I could go on for hours if I wanted to but I am considerate towards my wife. I also experienced the clenced jaws in the beginning but it is better now.

If you really have a problem like i do, severe anxiety attacks, then putting on weight should be your last worry, you obviously dont really need to be on Lexamil then.

Look jolet, depression is not something to be ashamed of you can't help feeling down without your pills. The important thing is that it makes you feel better. I am now drinking mine again but with a yoghurt every day to protect my stomach. I am gaining weight but what the hell I need a little excercise anyway, and if I have to drink these pills for the rest of my life so be it. The stuff keeps me normal and that's all that matters.
