My wife is 31 years old and she suffers from huge anxiety problems and panic attacks on a daily basis. However because of her age we can’t find a doctor to prescribe her xanax because so many people her age do abuse prescription drugs and sell them. We know it’s very addicting but she had been on them for three years and we move for about a year and she substituted the Xanax with drinking a lot of alcohol. Now that we have moved to TN and there is a huge difference in how she reacts to daily life without them. She is a different person when she gets them and keeps better control of herself when on them. We feel that she should be on xanax and prozac for the rest of her life. So if anyone knows a doctor that would prescribe her xanax around the Cordova or Memphis area.

Hello, Bigbadwolf! How are you and your wife? I'm very sorry about the problems that she's having.

Due to the new regulations set forth by the DEA last year, if she requires such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, she'll need to see a specialist, which in this case would be a psychiatrist.

The FDA lists Xanax/Alprazolam as being a benzodiazepine that carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

Prozac is an SSRI antidepressant that is also used to treat anxiety, its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss.

It would be easier to find someone willing to prescribe the Prozac/Fluoxetine, which might be very beneficial, since it also treats anxiety. What dose does she currently take?

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

Your best bet would be to get her medical records from the doctor she was seeing before you moved plus copies of her prescription for the Xanax.. If you don’t have either then please get her to a primary doctor so he can refer her to a psychiatrist..aThe DEA FDA Are making things very difficult.. She will have had to seen a psychiatrist so he/she can access her then she can get the prescriptions.. One other thing, unless you do have records don’t make the mistake of telling the doctor that Xanax and Paxil Or whatever the other medication was. I’ve done it and so have others and that’s when they start labeling us as drug seekers. I know it’s a pain and I’ve been there.. It’s terrible that we have to bow down to doctors 40 years younger than we are. Well let me own the statement I’m 40 years older than most doctors. I hope this helps you
