Darvocet Worked For Me (Top voted first)

Updated

I have had chronic pain for over 20 yrs. After trying every kind of pain mgmt under the sun, I had a spinal laminectomy. The dr gave me Percocet and various other pain meds and finally Darvocet. It worked like a charm. I took it as needed for 10 yrs with no problems. I found nothing else that I could tolerate, then contacted Lyme Disease. My dr tried several different pain meds (along with lyme treatments) and again nothing I could tolerate. Now it saddens me to say that I have to take morphine (MS Contin ER). I am scared to death I will never be able to stop taking it. Hope those responsible for taking Darvocet off the market are happy.

I agree, darvocet was a good pain killer, I remember Darvons! Then they went to darvocet. The prob with morphine is that you will need more and more eventually.., its a vicious cycle that never ends, ive been dealing with it for 30 years with tons of med documentation. My doc just took me off Lortabs and gave me tramadol. I have fibromyalgia and nothing really ever works, im also on klonopen and wellbutrin and baclofen... seems to be working for now but well see! I hope you find a happy medium so you can function... good luck

Hello, Jennifer and Cathy! How are you both? I am very sorry about the problems that you've both been having.

As to the Darvocet, if you took it and suffered no ill effects, you are actually very fortunate. It was found to be cardiotoxic, which so why it was removed from the market. There were a number of fatalities in those taking it.

The Morphine and Tramadol are actually far safer and more effective. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
