Coming Off Invega Sustenna (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hi,

I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013.

The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV.

I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better?

Any info on someone who has been off this med would be greatly appreiciated. I am interested to learn how many months it takes to feel better after invega sustenna.

Thank you

Just starting to come off invega. Been on community treatment order for three years. Had server tiredness. Felt like a zombie. Lack of libido. Weight gain. And loss of period. Have been on a high dose and hated ever second of it! Scared how long it will take to get out of my system. Also trying for a baby for last three yes and not sure if I will ever have another one! If so would really like to sue the company who makes it. It is the worst antipsychotic on the market. Been of for two weeks now. Still feel the same except I have headaches, dizziness and nausea! If anyone recommends you go on this I strongly recommend not to. Still had all negative thoughts only stopped them racing!

I took Invega in pill form for one week, then my therapist gave me a shot with 234 mg. I've been bed ridden for the past 4 weeks. Went to emergency room last night because there seems to be no subsiding of the symptoms...slurred speech, blurred vision, walk and talk like a zombie, very week, stiff jaw, shaking. They checked all my vitals in the hospital, EKG, cat scan, blood work and u/a all came back normal. Basically they wanted to rule out that I wasn't a crack head. This feels like rock bottom. I hope and pray no permanent damage has been done, but judging from the other posts it looks like recovery from this drug is going to take time.

How many shots did you get? I got a total of 2 shots... Is there any way to see if its in the blood... Also, are you able to work out like normal? Also there was a guy who got a 1 year worth of shots and did not recover after 11 years... Are you sure it will get better?

Hiya eduard,

It's been 6 months off invega for me and I still cant feel any euphoria from alcohol or marijuana - no emotions. How long did it take you?

Did you have any withdrawal effects? You mentioned that it has been five months since your last shot. It has been one month since my last shot and I am so afraid of withdrawal symptoms! Anybody who has NOT gone on another anti-psychotic, please let me know how it was with the withdrawal effects?

It's best to have the prolactin checked. I want to ask my doctor for some Wellburtin to get me thru but they're hesitant on giving me any uppers. My dopamine is lacking. This medication has made me worse not better. It's put me in a darker hole than before. So glad I'm off it now. Seven months and counting.

10 and a half weeks off the poison and I feel good. Still having a hard time getting up and motivated to work a full week but I feel like St Johns Wort is helping with my symptoms. My diet is still s*** but I'm going on a juice diet to combat the weight gain from anti-psychotics and maybe burn up some of the anti-psychotics that are stored in fat. I was like Eduard being on the meds for 8 months at 156 mg dose inj. My prolactin levels were 50 so almost double the level they should be. But I'm able to have conversations with people again and have some emotion which is good. I will be keeping everyone posted on my recovery.

Not true about permanent damage. I've been through years of those drugs. I am currently on invega. But being on invega is not helping me for I barely feel the effects of my marijuana. So please talk to me. I was majorly depressed. Then after flunking out of college I was 302'd and have been on meds ever since. But I KNOW a real miracle exists for me where forever after I can help.

Invega Sustenna has been my demon, I can't function on it. The world has fallen apart on these injections...It's killed my soul. Can't get a libido, can't get drunk, can't lose weight. I can't do much on this injection. Trying to lose weight is the hardest....it won't let me. The injection has played with my hormones that much. This is not fair, I'd rather have cancer than have this silent killer of a drug. Socially it has ruined me...I have no feelings and can't even cry. Dopamine is what it kills.

The weight is the saddest part of the side effects and also the loss of libido and sexual dysfunction. That and not being able to consume alcohol in th way I used to. Every pleasure in life ... it's killed all three...I don't have my figure, I have zero libido and can't enjoy a wine. I can't lose the weight easily cause of the hormone prolactin. Same with sex drive. Can't do much with a high prolactin and my body is numb to alcohol cigarettes and other. Every pleasure in life has been taken away with this poison.

I reckon again it's the medication. Can't feel effects of alcohol, can't loose weight, can't cry, can't feel pleasure ... cause this has taken away all that. I curse the ground those doctors walk on...hope they can sleep at night.

Sandh,

Thanks for asking. She's doing much better. The voices and hallucinating are slowly going away. She's a lot more coherent now. I can actually talk to her where she hears me and what I ask of her. Her appetite coming back and she actually tells me she feels much better and smiles at me. When she's really feeling good she gets into this energetic mode and starts cleaning the house and listening to her music which really calms her mood. I'm just happy every time I see her smile that really touches my heart as a parent especially knowing that god's been hearing my prayers.

I’ve posted in here recently about my recovery process. I’ve received 8 injections and I have been off the medicine for almost 9 months now. Mentally my IQ and memory is not as good as it used to be, however my brain chemistry is good right now. I feel like I’m in a good place to where I was a couple of months ago feeling hopeless and sad maybe like 2 months ago. I’ve been longtime supplementing St Johns Wort, 5 HTP, and B vitamins which at first didn’t seem to be doing much until recently. I don’t know if it is because of the supplements or because of time elapsed off of this poison. Mentally I feel fine, not myself yet but fine motivated even. I can hold down a part time job waking up at 4 am 5 days a week working for 5 hours. The symptoms I suffered from were weight gain, emotionlessness, gynecomastia, heart arrhythmia, pretty much all of them.

I still suffer from heart arrhythmia as I cannot run more than a mile yet but what I read from this and bluelight.com (check it out coming off invega v.1 and v.2) that it will go away in a year and gyno is also supposed to go away with exercise.

I recommend anyone reading this to pursue a part time job and an active lifestyle of working out and stuff, not heavily cardio based (unless ur heart can do sports then by all means do it) and do everything u can to pump endorphins into ur body. The poison has binded itself to your receptors and you might need to do stuff to unbind them. I consume marijuana occasionally and when I got high I noticed almost significant improvements during and a little bit after smoking just like pre invega.

Do not give up hope even if ur 2 years off. Make lifestyle changes that would pump endorphins in ur head. The mood will change as long as ur beyond 6 months (you may be extremely weak before this time and your body might “give up” on you) but these meds don’t last forever I’ve read countless recovery’s stories from this. Your mind is a very powerful thing so make sure u put positive thoughts into it at this point and do all you can to help yourself. {edited for privacy}.

I’m reading people have no luck at even 2 Years off this nasty crap, I myslef will be 1 year off end of next month and I don’t think I will ever be the same again

Reading stories online doesn’t help because some people are not that aware of themselves they think they are recovered but they actually not and still run by the drug

Wut do we do

Re: Johnny (# 317) Expand Referenced Message

It's inhuman, and shame that these kind of drugs are approved and not banned.. I'm onto my 14th month
I guess I'll be happy to recover even after 3 years off in early 2020.. but honestly I don't think there's really 100% recovery from the drugs, it affects you long term or permanent

Anyways wut has improved lately, how's your imagination and thought process ??

I was on the Invega inj. for three months which is 4 shots and I just got a final injection to wean me off it because I turned into a zombie. I do not recommend this med to anyone looking to lead a normal life. For people searching for feedback on this med, it caused me severe restlessness (akathesia), loss of personality (anhedonia), loss of libido and lethargy. I drink coffee but it does nothing anymore. Most days I feel hopeless and helpless to the effects of this med.
