Can Different Brands Of Carisoprodol Work Differently? (Page 3)

Updated

I have been using soma/carisoprodol for many years. Usually the paharmacy gives me generic from Watson or Qaulitest. Last time I got the meds it was manufac. by Carimax. It didn't work as well. Do different brands work differently?

Where is your pharmacy located? Does that mean they are no longer manufacturing the Watson Dan 5513 Brand?

You should try carisipodol with Tylenol 2 it helps very well since I can't get my Soma compound with codeine no more from Sandoz from Princeton New Jersey. They stopped manufacturing the product in August 2016

To those who have found Soma with the word DAN wrote on one side - could you share as to where you are getting those from. There is a difference and the other generics don't work and often leave me with a headache.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance,
Mel

Walgreen carries Watson brand with dan on it and my neighborhood Wal-Mart orders it for me even though it is not their standard. Wherever you go tell them you want Watson. It is the only one that works for me too

Watson is a good brand of carisoprodol, but Teva is NOT.

My medication insurance requires me to use CVS, Walmart or Sam's. So I started using CVS and Walmart and noticed that the last 2 scripts were not what I was used to taking. So I discussed with my doctor and he told me to use a major grocery store, like Kroger, Safeway, HEB, etc. I had my script filled at Kroger and it was the real deal. Only thing, insurance wouldn't cover it but that's OK, worth every penny. He actually called the RIS brand bathtub drugs.

Yes!!" The best ones are the ones that have DAN one one side. The rest of them you have to take 2 pills to equal one of the Dan somas,I get my pharmacy to order them for me. The man. of them is Actav like I said they have DAN on one side and 5513on the other.

Yes there is a difference I don't care what anyone says the ones with Dan on them works so much better you must have never tried the Dan somas. I have my local pharmacy order them for me.Some pharm. Will order them for you they are a little higher priced, but they are worth it.I suffer from dystonia and a lot of other problems and the DAN somas are the best I think.

I was prescribed 250mg (had been taking 350s and often only needed half) a while back and it was totally useless. That was the very first experience I had where different generics were markedly less effective. Don't remember the brand since I was naive to this problem then, but I was sure they had given me the wrong medication altogether. From that point on I knew something was seriously wrong with generics and have been fighting docs and pharmacies on the issue ever since.

I have had several India brands over the years and find that they are all crap. Though I have still used pain-o-soma as a last choice. Heard Wallace is very good but I've never found it. Personally I find Watson to be good, but that's just compared to the few others I've had that were terrible. The options are extremely limited and I can't devote that much energy to tracking down certain ones. Walmart switched from Watson to some other junk so I was just relieved to get Watson again.

I did have the compound years ago with codeine and it was fantastic. Most people find soma has a very synergistic effect with any opiate type drug which makes it very helpful for chronic pain patients. If taking percocrt or vicodin with even a half a soma, I can usually take less of each without getting too sleepy.
I just wish doctors and pharmacists would recognize this is a real phenomenon, but it's unlikely because no one will spend money to prove certain generics are ineffective (for obvious reasons). If you're interested, look at the annual complaint reports to see how common quality problems with generics truly are. Of course that's just the people who actually filed a complaint (sadly I never have despite many problems with them), and probably distorted by dismissing complaints under certain circumstances. Unfortunately I doubt it will be getting better :( We have to do the best we can and I *strongly* encourage everyone to take whatever action you can (stand up for yourself, complain to FDA, or write your representatives about regulatory issues). That goes for any problem or system you feel is not acting in your best interests!

Watson brand 350 mg ....dan/5513 imprinted on tablet. Through my last 10 to 12 years these have been consistently the best generic for me. I have been having problems with local drug stores changing generics very frequently, therefore I have times of no relief. My problem was solved with my pain management/rehab dr. writing on the prescription Watson brand and my mail order ensures that is what I received. The local pharmacies are no longer able to order what your physician wants... They are mandated to only provide what their big box company provides nationally.

Walgreens has carried the Watson brand for at least 15 months consistently.

Sciegen Pharmaceuticals 350mg is also like taking a placebo. I was just looking myself for an answer to this same question as I recently changed pharmacies and noticed a considerable difference. I found an old pill and after 30 min realized what a dramatic difference it was, obviously I checked it out before I took it and saw it was a Sun Pharmaceuticals 350mg. It was the first time in months I felt relief and realized what an issue this is. I definitely need to find out if my new pharmacy can order Sun or any other recommended brands!
