Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 62)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

I know it's so hard to go from pain medication for Relief to go to Suboxone. I hope you do extremely well with your Suboxone. My son seems to be doing a okay. I hope he keeps up the good work. Wishing you the best. I also go to pain management and they have pretty much cut my medication in half and I absolutely dread going to pain management because I never know what they're going to do next. We thought we had a wonderful doctor but he decided to turn into a total pervert. I was one of his victims unfortunately of his groping. Long story but so sad. His oldest victim was 88 years old. What a piece of garbage. So now I have a hard time trusting pretty much anyone and especially doctor's. Now that I have bored you have a great evening. I think all of you are just so nice and amazing.

Re: Charlene (# 1220) Expand Referenced Message

Well I have had all the fights with drs & pharmacists. I even have asked a dr where his heroin dealer was located as I want to make sure he gets his kick back.... (did not go well, threatened to call police... Said go ahead). I have also been treated like an addict when presenting the same script from the same dr after months of going there..... Never went back again... I find new stores then tell dr's of the change... I do not put up with stupidity & most states do not allow split delivery of heavy narcotics.... Must fill & take in 1 visit. If drug store forces split delivery, they may be violating state drug laws... I have made a lot of phone calls to drug stores & pharmacies over the years. Its not what you ask but how you ask it. I have asked 1 way and was told we dont give that info over the phone.... Called back later & rephrased & got an answer. Yes its wrong how chronic pain people are treated. If we were a gender, a race, or something else there would be protests for discrimination over our treatment by the medical establishment... Then when something is found that helps that the fda has no control over they try to make it illegal. The medical establishment wants a monopoly & remember if the dr heals you... The dr stops an income stream.(something to think about) another thought.... If pain meds are stopped how many pain sufferers will agree to surgery that pain meds made unnecessary? (just a thought).... & why is it that this pain med attack started when the us military got control of afghan heroin producing poppy fields (you would think heroin would dry up wouldnt ya)? I wonder if the cia is smuggling in heroin like oliver north did to fund contras (cia & drugs documentary on amazon prime) thru mensa arkansas when clinton was gov... Just some things to think about.

I guess there's no more need of complaining of what's being done to us. But my P. M. P. A. Informed me today that things are going to get a lot worse for us chronic P. M. patients at the start of the year. Pharmacies aren't obligated to fill any script from any doc. She said they can do anything they want. Kinda, scratch that. Health care in the U.S. has gone to hell in a handbasket. I feel there's nothing we can do. To be truthful, we all know they win & there's nothing we can do. Petitions, e-mails, letters & phone calls aren't gonna cut it. It despairs me to no avail. But the powers that be don't care. Anyone else notice all the rehab ads on tv? Most are portrayed as actors, not addicts. Notice the addiction guy with the stethoscope on his neck! If I had the big bucks, like the opioid screamers, I would invest in rehab centers.

Re: Valerie (# 1221) Expand Referenced Message

Good morning Valerie. U said your son is on suboxone. I take subutex which is just buprenorphine 8mg with no naloxone. The naloxone bothers my belly. And no to mention it's way cheaper. And the amount of buprenorphine has more buprenorphine in it..IF YOU ever find yourself in a bind of getting pain management pills, u should consider it a try. I know several people in these medschat groups that take buprenorphine for pain relief. It seems like everyone is somewhat complaining about subs use because some of these people take either for pain, or abusing pain meds..and these doctors are so afraid to write a script or how many u can get..I can tell u one thing subutex use so more easily to get prescribed. And its totally unfair that they cater to methadone use or buprenorphine treatment use for pain. I know its hard to jump of pain meds for buprenorphine. But when I was doing alotvof pills I'm ashamed to mention. But I was deadly with withdrawins on the way to the doc almost 2 hours away at that first time of using it..they ride home I only took 2 8mg pills and I was so much better within 15 minutes. I was able to walk into the grocery store my husband drove. We were in so much shock about this. At the time I first started it was around 1998, back then hardly anyone using it. We didn't know much about it. Every one time I had to go to the emergency room, my husband told them what I was prescribed and they didn't even know what it was, they had to look it up..back then it wasn't prescribed for pain. But damn I don't even get headaches or any type of pain whatsoever.

Where can I get the Kratom? I am taking CBD oil with no physical relief. I get it from Lazarus Naturals, a recommended place on here. They give a 40% discount to certain groups, it really helps.

Hear! Hear!

I am facing similar problems here in Australia, where codeine (+ ibuprofen) was at least something we could buy without a script for the last 200 yrs!!

They took it off the market in Feb.. I have been house bound ever since!!!

It's so unfair!! Cos ppl started realizing they could make 'Hillbilly Heroin' from Oxy, regular older ppl like me are just s*** out of luck. It's unfair and it sucks... Best of luck, matey!!

Re: Roro (# 1223) Expand Referenced Message

I'm in Australia and there was no such thing as an opiate problem or not much of one until the vietnam war. all of a sudden Australia was the prime r and r stop from fighting and so high grade heroin started to appear on the streets. The gov thought they had a problem then and people who indulged didn't usually stick out. Now they have the illicit drug epidemic and it's not safe to walk down the street with people getting bashed and spaced out looking addicts talking to themselves as they wander down the street. Now they have a problem but some politicians will tell you they're winning the war on drugs.

I want to get off the opiates. I get a script from my doctor. I am moving to Florida soon as we sell our house and plan on going to MAT to go on suboxone. I need number to call. I am 69 and have been on opiates for chronic pain for years. I have to take suboxone cause I am always 10 days short. Any feedback is appreciated.

Re: Kaydollasign (# 1210) Expand Referenced Message

FaceTime seriously may be an option! I know we received a letter advertising (for BlueCross Blue Shield insurance-we live in Alabama) an app or website one?... basically you make your appointment through that and they can prescribe meds through that! I'm not positive to what extent..but it may be beneficial to check into!

Sorry I'm not much help... I've been reading this thread (back dated replies all the way to last year) and I told my husband it's so upsetting reading all the ones suffering here... I am only 29 and live in pain myself (Suboxone is the only thing I can get a doctor to write..now.. I prefer it over pain meds though bc it doesn't have to be taken but (at most, for me) 2 times a day... Medicaid covers the prescription but not the visit..so it's definitely expensive. But so worth it. Good luck to everyone.

Re: Charlene (# 1225) Expand Referenced Message

I'm just sick and tired of playing the pain management doctors power trips. Like I said I'm about over it. My doctor has a stick so far up his a** that it's just unreal. I just went to this doctor Friday and the way he was speaking to this elderly lady I wanted to get up and slap the crap out of him. So I've been kicking around the idea of getting off the opiates and trying the Suboxone or Subutex. I'm just tired of the pharmacist looking at you really strange and I go there once a month. And all the doctors can say is the opiate epidemic is making the doctors afraid to prescribe opiates. But I have news for them, they're going to make the epidemic way worse as far as not giving their patients what they need and when they run out of meds someone always knows a friend-of-a-friend to where they'll start buying Percocets and things off the street. So they're really not helping the epidemic at all. Thank you so much for all your information. We're just all trying to survive that's it. The madness has to stop. Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm just extremely tired. Have a great evening. Wishing for you to have at least one day pain free. Chat with you soon.

Re: Bobby C (# 1224) Expand Referenced Message

Oh Bobby I truly agree with you. It's not like it used to be. We need help and they could care less as long as we pay our co-pay. I'm just so over it. We're not going to be able to change it eventually opiates will just be a thing of the past. My sister lives in Florida and she said it is so hard to get any doctor to write a prescription for an opiate. Just so sad. Have a great evening Bobby.

- Advocates say the herb kratom offers relief from pain, depression, and anxiety. Scientists say it may hold the key to treating chronic pain and may even be a tool to combat addiction to opioid medications.

Re: Roro (# 1223) Expand Referenced Message

I totally agree with you! The CIA has got to be involved in this OPIOID scam! We never hear of Any BIG heroin fentanyl busts, only Drs being taken down. I honestly believe that they're trying to do depopulation to eliminate a lot sick or suffering people who require healthcare costing Medicare and Medicaid lots of money. This Government doesn't give a rat's ass about the people. It looks clear they Only want Healthy to work and pay big bucks into the Tax kitty so they waste it all as usual. Yep the patient advocate is pissed and disgusted with how innocent people are being treated. I've seen Drs flat out LIE in your face. Coming up with excuse after excuse on why they're forcing tapering or just flat cutting clearly disabled suffering people off their medications. This happened in a state that says clearly Chronic Pain Exempt!

It was so sad to see a waiting room with elderly, seniors, Veterans and other disabled people who were suffering, nearly in tears moaning while waiting to see a Dr who was cutting them OFF. These people stated they were once stable and functional. How do these people Drs/Pharmacists sleep at night?! I pray they directly get hit with a family member left to suffer or end up Suffering themselves. I'm Sorry for sounding cruel but they definitely deserve it.
