How often should augmentin 875mg be taken? I was prescribed 30tabs for a throat infection. ## my 91yo aunt has pneumonia in both lungs was given today Augmentin 875mg 2x/day and took the first at 5pm and wants to take the second at midnight, after 7 hours from the first. Is this going to be OK? She doesn't want to get up at 5am to take another, and doesn't want to wait til she wakes at 8am and be late three hours. Is it better to take the first one sooner or later to get on a 8am/8pm time table? ## This medication is usually prescribed to be taken twice daily, one tablet every 12 hours. What are my chances of developing C. Diff from taking this medication? I'm a can in a nursing home we recently had a resident who had this. I took all the precautions needed when entering his room gown gloves face mask ect. and washed and sanitized my hands when done doing anything with him. I have recently started taking augmentin for a sinus infection and prednizone for bronchitis I believe augmentin is what he said he had taken and developed the C. Diff from. I had malaria three weeks ago and I have treated it but am still not feeling fine as I am still coughing. Can I use Augmentin to treat the cough? The cough does not bring out phlegm but it's disturbing. ## Hello, Gee! How are you? Augmentin will not do anything to treat a cough. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections. I started taking augmentin 875 4 days ago and I have gained 7 lbs. I'm hoping this is fluid retention. I am a personal trainer, I eat very well and exercise 5 times a week. If anyone has had the same symptoms please let me know. I was prescribed this med for 6 days for a severe head and chest infection. After 3 days I'm still seeing signs of infection. I called the dr and was told to wait a week and see how I felt. I am worried that the infection will return with a vengeance because it wasn't completely killed? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? I am on day 5 of 7 of amox tr-k clv 875-125 mg tabs for a uti. After day 2 I am acting as if I am on steroids. Rotor tilled and planted two gardens, planted 4-flats of flowers, 6-rosebushes cut lots of grass. Was not even achy or had sore muscles. Stayed up half the nite camping out. Can't sleep at nite, talk non stop and not very hungry. This was all days 2-5. If it wasn't for the no sleep I'm getting a heck of a lot done. Our 11 yr old (72 lbs) was prescribed Augmentin for suspected bacterial infection. He developed some of the "rare side effects" which have finally subsided except for the dizziness upon standing/walking. Last dose taken more then 48 hrs ago and still feeling dizzy. My 11 year old daughter was prescribed chewable Augmentin twice a day for strep throat. Since it upsets her stomach, I can't give her one before school. Can I give her 1 at 3 pm and the other before bed at 9 pm? ## No, that wouldn't a good idea. Since it's an antibiotic, the intent is to keep it regularly spaced out, to keep the levels up in her body long enough for the bacteria to be eradicated. Thus, you'd be leaving too long of a gap, between the 9pm one and the 3pm one going round the clock. As to the nausea, has she tried taking it with food? I had huge rashes on body from 20 days itchy and painful. No tablets worked. Finally augmenting 625 mg did. My haemoglobin is down and ESR is wat high to 40. Doc told my blood is infected and m being allergic to something I eat. Augmenting worked for 3 days .. course is for 5 days but I have got back the rashes on my body. a person in my vicinity once was prescribed augmentin, which helped very good and fast. Now this person believes Augmentin can do everything. For example in case of a moskito bite she applies augmentin externally, crashing a tablet to powder. I consider this absolute nonsense, but cannot convince. How long after taking Augmentin is it in your system for? I'm taking it for a breast infection... ## It may linger for a few weeks, as it slowly tapers out and is expelled, however, this is only referring to the side effects, it's half-life is much shorter, according to NIH records. They list its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Has the infection improved?

Hi, am a patient of pulmonary tuberculosis. I have taken prescribed medicines ( pyrazinamide 1200mg, isoniazid 300mg, r - cin 625mg, benadon 40mg, augmentin 625mg) only for 5 to 10 days that to interrupted. and its been almost 2 months that am not taking any medicines and fever is not there but coughing has increased ( dry ), pain in left side of chest, blurred vision and mild headaches.Has its been evovled in multi drug resistent or xtreme drug resistent?
