Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 27)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Hey, when you guys post an update or say which generic is or isn't working, can you provide a few details?

1. Manufacturer
2. The mg and a description of the pill
3. ***THE PHARMACY WHERE YOU FILLED YOUR PRESCRIPTION***
4. Your location, if you are comfortable with that, on the off-chance we are close and can then be guaranteed to know the manufacturer

Because if one of the generics works better than others, and it is available at a chain pharmacy, usually it is consistent throughout the whole chain and that will make it easier for all of us to get a hold of that manufacturer's Adderall, or to avoid it if we don't like that manufacturer.

Thanks :)

PS: I'm hearing rumors of Sandoz Adderall IR returning to the market. If somebody can confirm this, what pharmacy are you using?

I was put on Adderall in November, 2017.

I went to Rite Aid and got my prescription filled, they gave me the Aurobindo brand.
It was very strong, like speedy strong. 20 MG IR, it had the "U30" imprint on it.

It took my body at least a week to get used to it. My body ached at first.

The next month, I called some Pharmacies and found a Mom and Pop place that had "Sandoz". I'm guessing it is left over.

I have to say, Sandoz was so much smoother and less speedy as Aurobindo.
The Sandoz had the "E 401" imprint and is an orange color.

The Aurobindo was good, if you were very tired and had to get up.

I prefer Sandoz. I will keep getting it filled, till they run out of it.
It's too bad Sandoz isn't making it anymore.

Re: Hamster (# 500) Expand Referenced Message

The generic (Teva) 20mg IR tablets I've been taking for years suddenly stopped working (cold turkey) on last month's refill. I did some research and learned that Teva is on the brink of filing for bankruptcy due to competitive generic medication pricing. Typically the only way to stay competitive is to -A- make a better product (which rarely happens) or -B- cut corners on current products (which is the norm). There may be a direct correlation between Teva's sudden financial problems and my Adderall suddenly not working, which is why I put it to the test.

I'm a Software Engineer for a financial institution, so needless to say I absolutely need my Adderall to work. Out of desperation, and unable to risk another month of placebos, I asked my Doctor to make the prescription out for Brand Name Adderall. My concern was with Teva, and my goal was to get away from them, but I ended up getting the shaft instead. When I picked up this month's prescription from Walgreens they gave me Brand name Adderall.... from Teva! $420 out of pocket, PLUS... it had absolutely zero effect, just as the prior month's generic prescription. Tolerance is one thing, but no medication goes from 100% to 0% in one day.

Re: Hamster (# 471) Expand Referenced Message

Last month's refill of generic Adderall (Teva) from Walgreen suddenly had zero effect. This month I paid $420 out of pocket for brand name Adderall (Teva), and it also had 0 effect. Some light research revealed that Teva is on the brink of filing for Bankruptcy due to competitive pricing on generic drugs, so it's not a stretch to imagine a correlation. Nothing goes from 100% to 0% effectiveness in one day. There is definitely something going on with Teva's recent batches of Adderall.

In conclusion, do not be mislead by the previous poster's comment. Recent batches of "Brand Name" Adderall (from Teva) is no better than then their cheap generic version. Don't waste your money.

Re: Josh (# 524) Expand Referenced Message

I totally agree the price is NOT equivalent to the efficacy of the brand vs Generic Teva but it's clearly a more effective Med than Generic. Perhaps you are seeking more than Med and something more?

I'm on Aurobindo this month and they basically are weak.

Next month? Not Sure but it will not be adderall brand Teva as Express Scripts will not cover it at all...its like the fox guarding the henhouse...this insurance companies are not clueless.

"Dilly dilly! Dilly dilly... dilly, dilly, and dilly!"

Chas apparently got a good batch this month.

Hi, I'm having trouble with Teva-brand generic Adderall, as well (I googled 'adderall not working', that's how I found this site).

I've been prescribed the same Adderall IR dosage for about 2.5 years: a 20mg tablet in the morning, and a second tablet split later in the day (usually 10mg around 11, 10mg around 3pm).

In reality, I usually take less Adderall (or none at all) on the weekend and add a late afternoon dose during the workweek; my doctor said she's fine with that. It helps me stay awake, on task and focused on what I'm doing.

But... This month the pills are different, and they barely work at all. It's awful!

- This month the pills are Teva generic, purchased in Oregon, at Walgreens. They're oval, flat, light orange and are imprinted b/973. They taste sweet (this medicine never has, before). Over the past week I've been trying to get them to work but even if I take 2 whole 20mg pills, they don't help my focus or general alertness. My pulse doesn't speed up at all; I'd expect it to if I were really taking 2x my normal dose.

- Normally the Adderall I take are round, scored orange tablets with "U30" imprinted. In the past, I've filled the prescription at either Fred Meyer or Rite Aid. All the paperwork & bottles I could find show Aurobindo as the manufacturer. I've never felt like the tablets were inconsistent (too much or too little medicine) until now.

This is so lame!!!

Having the same problem with Walgreens/Teva Adderall IR. Filled in MA, if that helps. I take 5-7mg, so breaking pills but can't get to that dose without feeling too dizzy/speedy....Harder to concentrate instead of better. so not taking.

Teva was reported for going to generic rather than joking the fda regulation at a bare minimum of the percentage allowed per pill. The 20 ir has let's say the salt combo is 20 percent max active, they bumped it down to the minimum allowed by the fda which is considered 12 percent under the max allowed by law. They also changed it to dextroamp instead of using the regular methylphenidate salt combo. So long story short they cut the main ingredient with this new dextroamp. Also, buying name brand is also a gamble because these have a shelf life and if you pay for the name brand and they have it and don’t order it you're getting somewhat of a stale pill. I’ve been taking these my whole life and I know exactly what you're talking about. I just noticed this though about 8 months ago and found out this info through the deep grape vine of the doctors that deal with the vendors you can check this info & it is the truth. Best thing to do is either get the 20 extended release or have your doctor write you a script, but have him change it to brand name and if you don’t have insurance use Rx savings cards & you can get the brand name for a max of 210$.

Re: Hamster (# 525) Expand Referenced Message

Well the Doc wrote me a new script for my 20mg IR Adderall to be filled from CVS rather than Walgreen. I had assumed that something must have recently happened with the Teva brand, but unfortunately the Aurobindo is having no effect on me as well. I'm just as a sleepy and scatter-brained on the drug as I am off it. At this point I have to assume my Doctor was right- The sudden change must be with me, not the drug. I can't think of any life changes that occurred around the time the drug stopped working, but then not all neurological fluctuations may not simply knock at the door and introduce themselves, do they?

An ignorant mind is like a gun without ammo, so looks like more research is needed in order to win this fight.

I experienced the same issue with Adderall manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals. I’ve been taking Adderall IR for the last 10 years and all generic brands worked just fine except Adderall by Teva. Simply doesn’t work. I filed a complaint with the FDA and I would recommend to file a complaint as well with the FDA if you experience the same issue.

Here is a Link to file a complaint with the FDA

Hopefully the FDA will investigate Teva and recall Adderall manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals.

I can’t even express how happy I am to have stumbled upon this message board. I’m from Ohio, and have only been taking Adderall for a year. I was filling my script at Giant Eagle, until one day when I needed a refill they were out of it, and I decided to go down the road to fill at Walgreens. I haven’t been the same since, like 5 months! I have a high pressure career and just started at a new company. I thought the stress and long hours were the cause of my feeling complete lack of concentration and anxiety. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when I saw my doc. I told him how I was feeling and he said 20mgs a day was low, and he bumped me to 40mgs a day. Not a single difference! So I’m sitting here feeling concerned and what else do you do? You ask the “google!” and now I totally realize that the period of time I began feeling like this was the exact same time I began filling my script at Walgreens instead of Giant Eagle. I was taking round blue 10mgs before, and Walgreens gives me TEVA. I’m a bit mad at myself for not figuring this out before and doing some research. I’ll take a break completely from this generic and won’t be getting my next fill at Walgreens!

Side note, those of you who have questioned why Express Scripts would rather fill a drug that costs more and charge you less...I have your answer, but you won’t like it. The drug manufacturers kick back money to the pharmacy benefit managers aka PBM’s (Express Scripts in this case, but CVS Caremark is another big one) for using their medications on the preferred drug list, often called a drug formulary list on your health plan. The kick back is called an Rx Rebate. So, two drugs, same medication offered by two manufacturers have significantly different prices, but what you don’t see behind the scene is that the more expensive manufacturer often gives a large rebate to the PBM, making their drug the better “buy”. So it appears like your PBM is paying more for your medication that is actually not as good, and then want to charge you a fortune for the one that appears to be the better buy. Trust me, these PBMs know exactly what they’re doing. This is actually the most twisted industry out there, and there aren’t any laws preventing them from sucking up these manufacturer rebates to pedal a particular drug manufacturers med. Greedy prescription drug manufacturers are the worst, and couple that with these PBMs that your insurance companies have to do business with, and we’re all filling their pockets nicely for these sub par medications!

End rant.

Re: Jawepa (# 533) Expand Referenced Message

One thing to bear in mind is that it's not just Teva Generic that stopped working. The next month I paid $420 out of pocket for Teva brand name- No change. Last week I filled from CVS, which is from another manufacturer, and again no change.

I feel bad for doing this, and even worse for admitting it publicly, but several hours ago I took two 20 mg IR of the Teva Brand name (twice my usual dose) and three hours later... nothing. Not so much as a damn tingle.
Now, purely out of desperation to break free of this two month lethargic state of being, I just took three 20 mg IR Teva Brand Name at one time.... That's 3x more Adderall than I've ever taken (or needed) since being diagnosed in 2011. If it still has no effect on me within the next hour or so, then we'll know something is wrong with the Adderall.

I am sure you are taking this for the right reasons, but you use a few specific words that seems to
to perhaps imply that you may be taking this for its energetic, mood elevation, and its tangible effects

Sometimes a drug (maybe working) in a patient
not necessarily feeling subjective tangible effects.

I obviously do not know your clinical condition, but I picked up on this and I could be wrong

Re: Linds (# 536) Expand Referenced Message

Hi
Just filled Teva Generic 30 mg this morning instead of the Aurobindo and I must of received a fresh batch (Walgreens) as they are markedly more potent and effective than those lousy Aurobindo's.

Perhaps with all the complaints their quality control procedures have improved?!

We're all different so take this as my personal opinion only.

Good luck!
