Take 1 Tablet every 6 hours for pain. How many is this a day? 3 or 4 ## Hello, Judy! How are you? That would be 4, as defined by the FDA, from what you've listed. However, if it is a prescription that says to take it as needed, then your doctor may not be expecting you to need 3 or 4 of them every day. Is there anything else I can help with?

how long will these pills last and how many days ## Hello, Carla! How are you? If you're supposed to take it on a regular dosing schedule, then that would be a 10 day supply, because you'd be taking 3 a day. However, as explained by the NIH, if you are supposed to take it on an 'as needed' basis, then they may be intended to last you longer than that. I was prescribed 30 percocet and was told to take 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed...how many days is that suppose to last if i am taking them every 5 hours for pain? ## Hello, Jona! How are you? How many days supply does your pharmacy list it as being? The issue here is that it's an 'as needed' prescription and not a strict dosing schedule, so apparently your doctor thinks you'll only need to take one occasionally, so they may expect it to last a few weeks, or as long as a month. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. When is your next appointment?

My mother is taking a medication: one tablet every 12 hrs with food. We were wondering what times are best: 8am & 8pm or 9am & 9pm? Ehat do you suggest? ## It depends on if she has to take them with food or after meals. It also depends on what other medications she is taking. Some medications can't be taken with others. It would be best to call her pharmacist and ask because they should have a list of all of the medications she is taking. ## With food can also mean with glass of milk or a cracker. Doesn't have to be a "meal.. Any 12 hr gap is fine. ## I have to take a pill every 12 hours, if I take it at 8 , what time do I take the next one.

I am sorry, but I can't really provide an answer, without knowing this additional information, since some medications do require precise dosing, in order to be effective, but not all. what does p eye mean? this is an antibiotic ## I have never seen that on a prescription before. Was it for some type of infection related to the eye? Does "as needed" mean I can take more than 2 pills a day if I need it? Like, can I take 3 every 8 hours for pain safely? ## Hello, Rae! How are you? No, as needed means that you don't always have to take a pill every 12 hours, if you don't need to, but you can take up to 2 a day, 12 hours apart, if you are in pain and need to do so.
