I take 100 to 200mg of Tramadol per day for pain. I'm having a hysterectomy and will not be able to take it for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure. I will not be able to function at work without it. What can I take in its place? ## Hello, Cydque! How are you? You really need to check with your doctor on this. It would be remiss of anyone online to try to suggest a medication, without knowing the details of your medical history and etc. Good luck with the surgery! Is there anything else I can help with?

They have taken my tramadol away. What can I take in its place for long term use. I have severe hip pain and without the tramadol I don't know what I'm going to do ## Hello, Katie! How are you? I'm sorry, but who has taken it away and why was it done? It's difficult to help, without knowing more specifics on the situation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There are many other analgesics available. What causes your hip pain?

As we all now know they have moved Tramadol into a "Script Only" category and we are unable to purchase it online from ANY WHERE. My desperate problem is that I've taken Tramadol for over 10 yrs. now to help control my discomforts from Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Herniated Disc that is crushing my Sciatic Nerve. With NO INSURANCE I've been managing these issues with taking ONLY 2-3 50 mg. a day and have been able to continue to function WELL; not GREAT but I was among the living at least. My body never showed signs of side effects from taking Tramadol & I made sure to never abuse this gifted medicine. My fear is that the pain & depression that is to come once my body has been released from this medicine......I'll think to do the UNTHINKABLE! Is there not anoth...

RAN OUT OF HYDROCOAPAP TAB 10-325MG, BUT HAVE TRAMADOL 50 MG, CAN I SUBSTITUTE?? ## Have you consulted your doctor? The Hydrocodone is a potent narcotic and the Tramadol is very mild, though it is distantly related, so you aren't likely to get the same effective pain relief that you do from the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen tablet. ## If you are worried about your withdrawls, then yes you can. The max dose in 24 hours is 400mg. That's 8 pills. I did the same thing and took 200mg in the morning and 150 at night just to be safe. It will hold back the withdrawls and you will sleep comfortably. However, because its not an opiate, they will not "F" you up. You will not get HIGH from these. They do however trap seratonin for longer periods of time in your brain which for most peop...

My Dad is taking Tramadol in place of Darvocet. He took Darvocet for 20 years no side effects, now he is taking Tramadol and is good for pain but his blood pressure is going high and he has arrythmia and terrible depression. I think this pill has problem working with Paxil, Atenolol, Norvasc and Digoxin and should not be given together or adjusted. Why are doctors not aware of this and what else could he or should he be taking? Confused and upset! I f Darvocet cause heart attacks then why could he take it for 20 years without problems and now with Tramadol the safe one he's having all these troubles. ## Well, first of all, no medication is absolutely safe, they all carry risks. Now, the next question is, how long has he been off the Darvocet and did he stop taking it abruptly? Darvo...

I am trying to substitute for 10/650 Percocet. When I see my MD soon, I was going to ask for the equivalent Percodan instead ( afraid of liver damage after many years )...will I have problems adjusting and what is Percodan equivalent to (3) 10/650 Percocets day? Also, Is Tramadol the only way to get off this on my own? I hate taking it and have cut dose down over last year very difficult to do. ## do u think hydrocodone 5/325mg is right to be taken witht the patient with AlS? ## Have you tried or heard of Suboxone? It is a medication designed to help patients get off of opioid medications.. it can only be prescribed by a psych (with a licence to prescribe suboxone) or an addiction doc. Want a refillable subscription for substitute of above. Being told I have to have a hard copy every month. ## Hello, Izzy! How are you? Yes, that is correct, this medication was changed to a schedule 2 drug at the beginning of October 2014, so you can no longer have refills on it. The closest you might be able to get that can have refills is Tramadol, though it doesn't work well for everyone that tries it. Some people find that it doesn't provide pain relief for them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Tylenol #4

can these be substituted for percs.or loratab?can ## It isn't as strong as the Oxycodone or Hydrocodone that's in those, since it isn't a straight narcotic opiate, just derived from one. Thus, it will really depend on what works best for the individual seeking pain relief. There are many people that get great results from it and there are some that don't. Learn more Tramadol details here. When I tried it years ago it made me sick, but didn't do anything for pain. However, I had a friend whose doctor prescribed it and she got great results with it. Has it been prescribed for you?

I am currently on what my doctor calls a "pain management" plan since nothing else has worked. I take Vicodin 7.5/325 which right now is to be my at-home-pain-reliever. I was prescribed tramadol 50mg previously to take during the day and it was awesome! No pain, alert and able to work. But good feelings faded and became nothing. Now my doc had me on the same Vicodin. And I take Tramadol 50mg. (1-2 every six hours as needed, max 6 per day - Same as Vicodin) and Tylenol 3 (300/30mg) 1-2 twice daily. I already don't feel anything with this tramadol t3 combo. What is a good substitute I can take during the day? Maybe not even take before driving (1.5 hour commute - part of the issue lol) but maybe take eight after my commute is done and my shift is about to start. Don't wann...

I have been taking 15 mg of meloxicam for 3 weeks following surgery on my foot for joint pain and inflammation. It has been causing increasing stomach pain so today I decided not to continue with it. My intention was to not limit my mobility during therapy and my recovery period which could take several months to a year. What else could I take without the gastric upset? ## Hello, Fran! How are you? Did you try using an antacid and making sure not to take it on an empty stomach? These measures can usually help limit the gastric upset. Alternatively, you could speak to your doctor about trying something else, such as Tramadol, or Oxycodone, since they aren't as harsh on your stomach. The FDA warns, however, that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, su...

Our dog was diagnosed with bone cancer and given 6 months to live. The DR. prescribed 100 mg of RIMADYL for him. [sheep dog] 9 1/2 yrs and 50 mg of Tramadol. I also take Tramadol for back pain. The DR. just said to give him 2 RIMADYL A DAY and not to specific on the TRAMADOL 1 to 3 or 4 a day. I don't want to over medicate him or under medicate him. He isn't complaining at all yet. He is like one of our kids and wan't to give him as much pain free time he has left. How do we know when to give him more or less pills as time goes on, and is their any other substitute meds that doesn't cost $80.00 dollars as rimadyl does for a months worth of pills. Thank You ## Carol, to be quite honest with you, while I am very knowledgeable on the use of medications in humans and have ac...

substitute for dolcet medicine? ## substitute for dolcet medicine? ## Dolcet contains the active ingredients Paracetamol (325mgs) and Tramadol (37.5mgs), it is a pain reliever. A substitute or generic for it would be under the names of the active ingredients, or another medication that contains them in the same dosages. You could try asking your pharmacist or doctor for an equivalent. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

was given for pain from my doctor because it was a substitute for lortab? ## This is NOT a substitute for Lortab. Lortab contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. This medication is Tramadol 50mgs, it is listed as a narcotic, because it is derived from an opiate, however, it does not have the same benefits or effects that an opiate does, so it does not work like one. The name brand this is sold under is Ultram. It is not recommended for severe pain treatment. Here's the monograph link with more information:

What is a good substitute for Darvocet N/100 for treating pain? ## Darvocet contains the active ingredients Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene, it was really the mildest narcotic pain reliever on the market. As to an alternative that might have the same pain relieving properties, have you tried Tramadol? It is not a narcotic, but works very similarly. It is also available with Acetaminophen, under the trade name Ultram. There are some other narcotic+Acetaminophen combinations on the market, but most will be stronger than the Darvocet was, even at their lowest dosages. Here are the links to a couple that you can check out and discuss with your doctor: Does any one else have any suggestions? ## The problem many patients have with Tramadol (ultram) is severe GI upset. white oblong 377 imprint on one side ## The pill described as white, oval, with 377 stamped on one side is a generic form of Ultram. Tramadol HCL 50 Mg. My pharmacist substituted it for the usual round, white, pill marked with AN 627 on it, and didn't change the pill description on the bottle. Pharmacists in Nevada must be crazy or something. ## Ya. I have seen a few different kind of Ultram and every pharmacy is different. I know that they are all the same but you know how your mind plays tricks on you and I swear nothing works as well as the round white ones AN 627. If I cant get those, I will take my script elsewhere!!! ## Hey DAVO...... stay away from the square ones, those are by far the worst. Tylenol works better than that!!!

I have been taking darvocet for 10 yrs and have never had a side effect. This is the only pain reliever that I can take because of my ulcers and diverticulitis. I also take this for my arthritis. What am I suppose to take now? ## I am in the same boat. I cannot find a substitute for Darvocet n/100. I have tried Tramadol and Oxycodone. I get Restless legs Syndrome from other meds. ## Sorry, but it's unfortunate that no one cares. Millions of people have taken this med for pain and because they cannot take other meds. One solution is to find a global source; there is always an answer. ## Find a pharmacy who sells the drug globally. ## There were two primary reasons why all medications containing Propoxyphene, and its relatives, were removed from the market. I have curvature in my back and arthritis in my back and the only relief I have is oxycodone, I want to get off this but do not know what to try. Would Meloxicam or Tramadol be a good substitute? Please tell me of anything else I can try. Alleve or Tylenol does not do much and I'm in constant pain without Oxy. ## Hello, Demi! How are you? Neither of those medications are as strong as Oxycodone, plus the Tramadol is also a type of opiate that carries the same risk of being habit forming. It can also cause very similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Why do you want to stop taking the Oxycodone? How long have you been on it and what dose do you take?

I have been seeing a doctor that refuses to prescribe my Percocet. I have recent MRI films that show disc degeneration, spurs, disc bulging and I have lost all of the curve in my neck. I have been on total disability since 2005.Since she substituted them with Tramadol and Soma muscle relaxants, I have been in so much pain that I cannot stand or walk for any period of time. I can only lay propped with pillows. Since this, I have gained around 80+ pounds in a little over a years time! I am miserable!
