An attempt is underway to transition those to only being used for short pe...

I'm very upset about jerk doctors who are afraid to prescribe narcotics like Percocet 10mg. Other meds do not work yet some will offer morphine patches. Need help finding a doc to do so in humble, Texas. Please help before I am forced to look on the streets... anyone? ## Hello, Daniel! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you've had. However, doctors have no choice in the matter, they have to be cautious about prescribing such medications, if not, they risk losing their license to practice medicine, as well as fines and jail time. The patches are less frequently abused, so they are sometimes a safer alternative. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth...

Anyone know a doctor that will prescribe pain medication in Mobile Alabama? Suffer from severe arthritis and neck and back problems. ## HI, Daisy! Sorry that you're in pain. Since you're in Alabama, the best suggestion I can make is that find yourself a regular, general practitioner and then discuss the issue with them, so they can refer you for pain management. Basically the area of the U.S. from Iowa, Arkansas and etc. over to the east have all been hit with a ton of new regulations for the prescribing of pain medications, due to the heavy rates of improper and over prescribing that were going on. Under these new regulations, general practitioners are restricted in what they are allowed to prescribe for pain and how long they can prescribe it, so most patients requiring strong...

my family doctor can not c me as a patient anymore due to so.e new law startin in Oct.. I need hydrocone/vicodine and xanex. I need ffhm due to many physical issues. ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? The new regulations don't prevent him from continuing on as your family doctor, it just prevents him from prescribing controlled substances for you. In order to have them prescribed, you'll need to see specialists and the type of specialists will depend on why you need them. For instance, if you're taking Xanax for anxiety, you'll need to see a psychiatrist, as well as a pain management specialist for the Vicodin. These medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability and constipation. Can anyone suggest a g...

I think that the Internet is a very useful tool to gain information. I also think that this website provides a good forum for discussion of medications. What troubles me, however, is the huge number of people placing posts asking where they can find a doctor to prescribe large amounts of narcotics, supposedly for pain management. Most allege that their doctors "moved" or "stopped prescribing". I have sincere doubts about these posters. People posting these kinds of questions are rare in reality; doctors don't move without referring patients to other health care providers. Doctors also don't just "stop prescribing" - unless it's for a good reason. One of the good reasons a doctor can stop providing prescriptions is if s/he thinks a patient is taking a ...

I cannot find a doctor who will help me with pain meds. Tramadol is just not cutting it. I have no quality of life ## I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. No one deserves to suffer in pain. However, you may be creating some issues yourself, if you're contacting doctors and asking about them prescribing medications. They are taught to see that as drug seeking behavior, so they will usually not even let you get in the door for an appointment, or if you do make it that far, they will just refuse to prescribe anything. Thus, you need to see a pain management specialist, make sure they get a full copy of your curre...

I've been on pain meds for years my doctor is gone now and I'm having trouble finding a new one to prescribe my pills ## Hello, Jenn! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a specialist for pain management. But you really can't call doctors and ask them about prescribing any particular medications, because they are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior and most will just tell you no. You need to see a new doctor, make sure they get a full copy of your medical records and proceed from there, without asking about them prescribing anything ahead of time. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? If so, that might be the easiest and quickest way to find the help you need. Can anyone recomme...
