I just would like to know if this medication is for schitz patients then why is it perscribed for so meany other things? What exactly is it for? I know someone who is on it but thier diagnosis is nothing close to schitz. I am concerned about this and would really like some feed back. P.S. this person is only 15 and has other diabilities. ## Sometimes they give Seroquel for ADHD, insomnia, etc. My doctor wanted to give it to my son, but I found out that Seroquel is a major factor in Diabetes and I have Diabetes in my family, so I had him not even start it. ## Seroquel contains the active ingredient Quetiapine, it is often used to treat various mental health issues, such as Schizophrenia, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder. Most medications can be used treat multiple conditions. The FDA lis...

I need to find a doctor to support keeping me out of work for my osteoarthritis in my ankles, knees, hips, hands and spine and Fibromyalgia and RA. I have a doctor now that pulled me out of work but revises to fill out my short term disability and sent me to occupational doctor to fill it out and he seen me for 10 mins and said back to work with restrictions and now my rheumatologists agrees with him. I would prefer a doctor in northwest suburbs that will support a patient and understand how painful it is to work with the conditions I have.

So approx. 3 years ago I applied for disability. I was out of work on fmla for approx 15 days a month and it was taking a hard hit on my financial state since fmla days aren't paid. My dr said his advice was to apply for disability. This entire process was long and exhausting as some of you know. I had rotator cuff tendonitis, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, radiculopathy in my c5 & c6 disk in my neck, Iliotibial band syndrome in my right leg, depression and severe anxiety. All 5 of my doctors (ortho, pain mgmt, rheumatology, pcp, pshyc) stated in my files and paperwork they provided to the state that I qualify. HOWEVER, here's the kicker, the state then decided to send me to a few of their own doctors who seen me for approx. 15 minutes and don't know me or my ca...

Does anyone have Humana prescription insurance through disability? My Humana will only pay for 2 long acting pain meds which are MS Contin and fentanyl patches...I've tried the patches and I have a severe allergic reaction to them as they cause itching and burning to my skin and the Morphine ER doesn't seem to work at all. They cover the short acting pain meds no problem it's just the long acting. Even a prior authorization from the doctor won't get any others covered? ## What dosage of the MS Contin are you taking? You may need to speak to your doctor about raising it. The FDA lists Morphine as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Alternative...

I was under pain management for 10 yrs in Memphis & my doc passed away. Was seeing Dr Douglas Jones but he took teaching position at University of TN. I would be willing to travel to Ark if necessary. Have Medicare & on disability & have been on pain meds for years to manage severe back pain. Need to find a doctor with some compassion. Dr. Jones was great but had to move on. ## David, Sorry to say your chances of finding a "compassionate old school doc" that is liberal with the pen and pad are no longer in existence. From one who knows, Your best bet is to seek an interventional pain management practice as they may offer a degree of relief that many would find helpful. Long term use of opioid and or opiates exclusively are not the optimal course of treatment for intr...

im on disability for general anxiety disorder and i cant get out of my house to get to a doctwe. can you help? ## Hello, Liz! How are you? There is one on this site that prescribes medications, it is an information only resource. Additionally, since Xanax is a controlled substance, people on it are required to physically see a doctor on a regular basis to be examined and monitored. The FDA classifies this medication as being a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Do you have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone or help you?

I'm on disability and I can't get my hydrocodone's. Most pain doctors that take Medicaid turned me down and won't even see me. I made a mistake about five years ago and failed the drug panel and now I can't find a pain doctor. How long can they hold this against me and what should I do? ## It is in your medical records, so it's going to stick with you for life and due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, doctors have to be even more strict about prescribing such medications, now. The only thing that might help is if you have a PCP that supports you and will vouch for you, who could refer you to a pain management specialist. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

i am waiting on my ss disability.i do not have no income.i need help with my meds. ## This website doesn't manufacture, nor all any medications, it is an information only website. However, it appears the the Rx Outreach program does help with Ramipril and you can contact them for more information and to see if you qualify for their program by calling 800-769-3880. Do you take any other medications?

my insurance ran out and I am on disability now how can I get help with my carbo levo script it is expensive ## For many medications there are coupons that are supplied by your doctor or pharmacy, when they receive them from the drug representatives. I would suggest contacting your local pharmacy first to see if they have any for this drug. Another thing you can do is search on google for various coupon sites. I've seen at least a handful of them by typing in "prescription drug coupons". Other than that I personally don't know of other methods to save money on this medication. There may be some sort of support group(s) online that helps needy people get their prescriptions for next to nothing; but I have only heard this and have not yet verified it. It may be worth while...

I have a service connected disability and can't find a pharmacy that my primary pain management doctor just prescribed me. It 30 mgs of oxycodone. No one had it and I'm still in pain. I live in queens NewYork. Why would he give me something no body has.? ## Hello, Gerard! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. However, how have you been checking to see if the pharmacies have it in stock? If you're just calling them on the phone, you're not going to get a real answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the other end of the line is a potential their, or a legitimate customer with a need, so they'll just say that they don't have it. You have to actually physically go to the pharmacy, with the prescription in hand. Th...

I am 45 years old and on disability. My medicare prescription insurance does not cover generic Suboxone tablets. I just started treatment. I will be taking a quantity of 90 of the 8.2 generic Suboxone tablets. The cheapest cash price I have been able to find is $132 a month. The monthly doctors visit costs $150. I simply can't afford treatment at that price. I would appreciate any coupons that will help lower my monthly prescription costs. ## Hello Tim, Sorry to hear that this unfortunate situation has come upon you. Hopefully I can shed some light on the situation here. There are PAP (prescription assistance programs) for nearly all medications so long as you qualify for them. I will link below a PAP for suboxone that you can contact, we'll start with this website as it seems t...

I'm in the middle of an appeal for disability with binder & the disability...each day that goes by things have gone down hill... FAST! I have been on Chronic Pain meds since a botched bowel resection in 1998. In between bowel surgeries, I've had one knee replaced & am now 5'1" with the new left knee & am 4' 10" on the right.. Then a few weeks ago my whole right arm went out. I also tend to fall over. even sith chrutches full time. Do you really think you can help me? ## Hi Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about your situation, that sounds really rough. If I can offer any advice, it would be to try essential oils for your pain. There are lots of people who have used essential oils for pain as well as many other ailments and have benefited from them. Essent...

co pay is 60.00 for oxycontin i'm on fixed income ss disability but i get medicare but fall under low income so i get extra help for scripts problem is i still have to pay the 60 which i can't afford is there a program out there to help off set the cost ????? ## I'm sorry, but no. The current programs require either no insurance, or they help people in the coverage gap, but do not assist with co-pays. Have you talked to your doctor about using an alternative medication that might be cheaper, such as MS Contin? It's a time released formulation of Morphine and there are generics available.

I am on disability for chronic back pain and degenerative disk disease, in the past I have been on 80 mil oxicontin for about eight years, but have not been on any medications in the past year. I am now at the point of needing pain meds again. ## Hello, Stan! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, asking them to refer you to someone would most likely be the quickest and easiest way to get the help you need. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## There are no new regu...

I take the 10mg pink Oxycodone and I am on disability for whatever reason DSHS\SSI medical insurance makes me pay 2 out of every 3 months for the 10mg tablets the 3rd month is free Why? The 5 mg tablets are also partially covered only 90 tablets are covered (free). I have a 28 day supply every month #112 if 5mg per my request no more than 4 in 24hr period written on the bottle or #56 10mg with (at my request no more than 2 in 24hr written on bottle.) I was switching back and forth to avoid being charged because without notice they stopped covering the Oxycodone the 1st time I was given my prescription of 112# 5mg they docked my amount to 90 tab because that's all dshs would cover and they refused to give me the remaining 22 because you can't pay cash on a dshs paid script. I wou...

I'm 60yrs old and on disability due to chronic low back pain. I've had two surgeries. I want get into what's all wrong with my back, but I've been assured another surgery or similar procedures will not help my back situtition. Additionally, even if a surgery would help me I can't have one according to a liver specialists because the medication used to put you under could kill me. This is because of Hepatitis C & cirrohsis of the liver. I also have 1 large gall stone which the specialists states cannot be removed. So currently I am on 30 mgs of methadone daily. I take it by putting approx 15 mgs in a medicine bottle (white pill) stirring then letting the undisolved white stuff settle to bottom and I drink the clear liquid on top, & throw away the settled white...

Why not covered in Medicare and disability. It's the only antidepressant that really worked for me but after going on Medicare almost impossible to get. ## Yes. It works great but it is so high even with my fed bobs ins that I can't even take it. It sucks ## From an outsider, it's difficult to determine specifically "why" certain insurance companies don't provide coverage for certain medications. However I can only speculate that in some way shape or form they probably don't receive enough benefit or profit from doing so, otherwise it would be listed on the drug formulary. As unfortunate as this sounds, greed is the nature of many insurance companies. I've seen a number of documentaries surrounding medical insurance agencies and how they make their decisi...

Yes I live in Ohio I am an oppiate addict who is on disability ive been through it all i want to know if Ohio Disability ssd covers anything the meds or the visits to the doctors? ## Hi Gene, Based on my research, the Social Security Administration (SSA) webpage for some reason, does not actually list any of the types of services or disability that it supposedly covers. Basic information about the program can be found in the following pdf document. But I have yet to find specific details on coverage: ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10029.pdf However, from the looks of things, it seems like your best bet at this point would be to either contact the SSA directly regarding their coverage, or to discuss any type of disability information with your doctor. Reason being is that every doctor may have diffe...
