Need Dr. In Houston Not Afraid Of Dea
UpdatedI'm 60yrs old and on disability due to chronic low back pain. I've had two surgeries. I want get into what's all wrong with my back, but I've been assured another surgery or similar procedures will not help my back situtition. Additionally, even if a surgery would help me I can't have one according to a liver specialists because the medication used to put you under could kill me. This is because of Hepatitis C & cirrohsis of the liver. I also have 1 large gall stone which the specialists states cannot be removed. So currently I am on 30 mgs of methadone daily. I take it by putting approx 15 mgs in a medicine bottle (white pill) stirring then letting the undisolved white stuff settle to bottom and I drink the clear liquid on top, & throw away the settled white carrier at bottom of bottle. I do this because even taking it that way it still makes me extremely nausuated. So I must take medication 2-3 times daily for nausuea. That's not good for my liver nor is the methadone. I've taken dilaudid in past and it did not make me nausuated. But that pain clinic was closed. The pain clinic I go to now the Dr. is a woss as he is to frightened of the DEA to write for that. My medical records supports that medication, a layman can see that. But I don't know of any in Houston that cares enough to help me. Mean-time I am slowly getting worse and will die without a change in medication. Without an oipiate in me I would be in a pain scale of 10. With the methadone I'm at about 6, but my quality of life is low due to being so very nausuated. Any suggestions. Don't really want what I call a back alley Dr. that will be closed in a few years. Anyone know of a good Dr. in Houston that will take medicare & medicaid & write for what I need. Thanks Robert

Unfortunately, EVERY doctor in the U.S. has to be afraid of the DEA and the FDA.
If they are considered to prescribing inappropriately, they have to answer for it and doing so means they risk their medical license, paying fines and possible jail time.
It will not be possible to just find a doctor, walk in and tell them to prescribe certain medications.
The best you can do is to gather all your medical records, so they know what does and does not work successfully for you and take them with you whenever you see a new physician.
I am very sorry to read of what you are going through.
have you tried finding someone that specializes in pain management?
