I have been on 10 mg oxycodone and codeine #4 for 10 years and now I'm sick of it. I was told kratom is good for pain. Does anyone know if it really works? Pain meds don't work any more and I want off of pain killers. ## I have been looking at kratom forums on the web seeking alternatives to pain pills. I'm getting mixed opinions on it being effective for pain issues. There are online vendors who feature an option of buying a few different strains which you can sample. I'm on 10 mg of hydrocodone. I have surgery in 3 weeks on my colon, the fifth one in a year with 2 more to go after this. I have not lied and this is all I take other than celexa 20 mg once a day and over the counter benedryl for sleep. My count will be low today. My plans for when when I get better and I've discussed this my doctor is to completely with their help to detox and never to take this again if possible. I've always been honest and I will today but I have had more pain this month and have taken more. Will I get kicked off because of a low count? ## Good luck! Due to a few episodes of delusion, confusion I decided to wean off of all my pain related meds. I just stopped takingSerequel, weaning off of Norco which I have taken for 13 years following 2 disc surgeries. I also was taking Seroquel, Ritalin, Morphine as needed, oxycontic, as needed, and this is my 3rd day and I am having terrible withdrawal. My body feels like it is someone else's and when I take the Norco down to 8 a day from 10-12 those feelings go away. I am suffering. I'm a chronic pain patient due to Fibromyalgi/Chronic Fatigue and Degenerative back & hip disease, for 21 years I've tried all kinds of meds and only narcotics have ever helped.. I'm on Percocet 15 mg, 1 every 4-6 hours, for 6-7 yrs now. . (Long acting meds behave as short acting in my body, so can't take anything long acting...which prevents me from being able to use a breakthrough med). I've been on soboxone for 3 years. I'm now having a bad bout of Colitis, Very painful. Day 5 off soboxone and my Percocets are still not breaking through? Help???? ## Because suborn is a blocker . I have been on to oxycodone 5 milligrams 325 4 times a day sometimes 5 times a day for 10 years now I have liver function problems my alt and Alt are in the seventies my doctor is switching me to percocet 10 5 times a day is that the same dosage and is the Tylenol lower dose. I am taking one daladid every 4days so I only take maybe 3 a week. I am also on fentnyl 50 mg patch and xxanx 1 mg I am takinmg 8 mgs of that a day. I have had back problems for years and I am sick of being a slave to opioids. I used to go to a sports medicine doctor that would prescribe 120 norco's a month and at the same time started to go to a pain management doctor so that I would not run out of meds. The pain management doctor prescribed oxycodone 10's qty 120 per month. Believe it or not by 3.5 months I was going thru 120 norco's and 120 oxycodones in 2 weeks. I have allways been told that when getting clean you are best to "treat the systems " rather than the disease.... I am sure there is some truth to this but here is my real question.... If a person has 4 steady years of pain meds (oxys, tabs, percocets,ect) what "formula" is the best one you know of to prepare for detoxification if thats what your planning on doing? I recently had to change pain drs b/c mine closed his practice. I have been fighting w/my WC company to detox from the pain meds I take for the last 5 years b/c I'm having a lot of detrimental secondary side effects. The new doc's PA is having me come off of the Topiramate (1200 mg daily) to 400mg daily in one month. This seems a little crazy fast to me. I am a 45 yr old female who has chronic pain. 18 yrs ago I was an addict ans was on methadone treatment for 7 yrs in seattle. I moved to Idaho and detoxed off my program for 3+yrs. I had back surgery and was prescribed meds that unfortunatly gave me some physical addiction. I asked my family doc for methadone for pain and explained my past. I had spine surgery on 7/21. I had been taking 900 mgs daily for years. By 7/24 inadequate a hemorrhagic stroke. The hospital simply overlooked my need for neurontin. I had also bee on high doses of OxyContin and was medically supervised for 5 yrs. Then my dr decided to detox me day after surgery; hence I had no pain meds despite extensive spine repair involving my complete lumbar spine. The pain i endured destroyed my faith in god in the midst of this torture/ I realized I was having neurontin withdrawals that I believe caused the stroke. I have been on methadone for over a year. My dr got arrested, now I'm out of my meds and I don't know what to do. I'm going through withdrawal and it sucks. My primary dr will not prescribe it. I am in so much pain, I'm starting to lose my mind. ## They never should have prescribed methadone for you. Not for pain relief. That's probably why the doc got arrested. Methadone is used to get people off opiates. But now your addicted to methadone. Get off that drug. You'll be a slave to it and can't live without it. You'll wind up in a methadone clinic. If you do, detox asap.

I'm 32 and I have been an opiate addict for about 3 years. It started innocently as treatment for my RA and just blew out of control. I tried detox and all that before and ended in failure, so I found a good Dr and started suboxone treatment and have not touched a pain pill since. However 4 months ago I found out I was pregnant and rather than risk a miscarriage from withdraw my Dr changed my script to subutex. I'm truly terrified of my labor because I have a phobia of needles so an epidural is out of the question for me. My Dr said they can give me a higher dose of pain meds thru my labor for pain but I'm so scared they will overdose me or harm the baby.
