Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 4)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

I am in shock after finding this website. I have taken Lyrica for about 4 years but was only put on a large dose about 1 1/2 years ago. During that time I was hospitalized for suicidal thoughts/attempts. I only found it was causing my depression/severe anxiety after my insurance stopped covering it & I could not afford it for a month. I have had over 20 cavities flled in the last year, after never having a cavity since I was 16 years old (I am 40 now). I just had a tooth removed a couple days ago due to the nerve dying & causing an abcess. I can't believe that Lyrica is behind this mystery. My dentist was convinced I had stopped brushing my teeth! How can this product still be on the market?!

Welcome Amy...I am glad you found us. It is too bad it takes some of us such along time to find out what the lyrica is doing. And Vicki, thanks for the update, I would really appreciate you letting me know if he is going to help you. If it works out I would love his name and number. I also have some new information that might possibly help some of you. I don't know everyone's history., but I have had Fibro for well over 10 years, on top of 4 car accident injuries and depression and struggled with weight due to all the heath problems. At times from the fibro I have spent days and weeks in bed. Anyway the reason I am mentioning all of this is because in April I answered an ad for a biggest loser weight loss type challenge. My daughter (21) went with me for moral support and after hearing about it we both became convinced that this could help both of us. I freaked out because they were promoting a product, which I didn't know about when I went to it. But the testimonials made it sound so good, i ended up buying a bunch of the product. The lady didn't push it on me, in fact quite the opposite she was trying to get me to get less, but I was getting it for my daughter and I both and we wanted to really commit so I got lots. Anyway to try and make a long story short, it changed both of our lives. She quit smoking after 5 years (she said it just didn't taste good to her anymore) she started feeling better and losing weight. I started losing weight and started having energy and feeling so much better. I started doing things I haven't done in years. I painted my whole house by myself, went from 2 mins on the elipticul to 45 mins without pain. We have two acres and I have been helping my 90 year old father mow the lawn 2, 3 even 4 hours at a time. I was the biggest loser in my weight loss challenge 25 lbs in 7 weeks and now up to 32 lbs. I took myself off of my prednisone for the fibro 6 days ago and I still feel great. Anyway in case you are wondering it is all because of HERBALIFE !! I went in hoping to lose weight and ended up feeling like a new person with a new daughter. I am so excited about our results and the stories I have heard that I decided to become a distributor and try and help other people. They have been around for 30 years, have some of the most intelligent Doctors, scientists and researchers on staff. I could never try to promote something if I didn't truly believe in it. This has given me a new lease on life and if there is a chance it could help any of you I want to be able to because I was where you are just a couple of months ago. I have wanted to let you all know sooner, but I wanted to be sure. If any of you are interested go to www.herbalife.com and check it out. If any of you would like to try it you can go through me, that would be great cuz I like all of you I am sure have struggled for so long because I was unable to work, but I am not telling you this to make money, I am telling you to help you, so I don't care where you get it. But this is cheaper than drugs and so good for you. I don't even crave ice cream anymore. Can anyone tell I am excited? If you have any questions feel free to email me.

Thank you Vicky for keeping us updated. I feel sure at some point we will be able to file something against Pfizer.

Connie:
Congrats on your progress. :) I had not shared the alternitives that have been working for me. I have been taking Herbs and vitimans. My weight has dropped 40 pounds since November. I have been taking an herb for pain, corydalis and now don't take any pain meds. My pain was from Fibro.
Again thanks for sharing your good news and Hope you keep us updated on your progress.

Vanness...Thanks for your reply. So often we are so quick to listen to our Dr's because we assume they are there to help us. But most of the, are all for the drugs, regardless. We are usually in so much pain that we are desperate to try anything and than sometimes they can destroy us. We need to start looking at healthy alternatives first. With the www there isn't much we can't find out. I have tried other natural methods but none of them ever really helped me until this product. I am glad that you found something also and Wow 40lbs, that's huge also. Congratulations! I have been on a 2 week plateau and it is driving me crazy. I just have to keep reminding myself how good I feel and that the weight loss is just a bonus. Good Luck to everyone and Have a safe and Happy 4th weekend.

To Vanessa,

Thanks for the information about the corydalis. I looked it up in my herb book and it advises not to use without medical supervision. Since I doubt if either of my doctors even knows about it, can you tell me where to find more information? Do you buy the herb and prepare it in any way? What side effects or potential for addiction does its use carry?

I am seeing a lot of vision and dental problems listed here. I hadn't thought about it before but it sounds like maybe my vision problems could be related to the Lyrica. However, I know that my asthma is directly related. I only took Lyrica for a few days in January of 2008 but developed asthma during that time. After months of testing, inhalers, etc. I am still dealing with it. I stopped the daily inhaler but still have difficulty breathing and have a rescue inhaler for when I need it. Has anyone else developed asthma from taking Lyrica or know of an attorney handling such cases?

Miranda:

Sorry to take so long to get back to you.

I had an herbalist test me in late October 09. She then gave me the Corydalis. It took me about a week to get off the prescription pain meds and there are times when my pain is bad enough I take the prescription, but for the most part if I take the Corydalis in the morning and night it help. It was not easy for me to find but I did get my last bottle off the net. If you want the website let me know.

To Vanessa --

It's so good to know that you've had such success. I'm so sick of the pHARMaceutical poisons. I found a place called Om Chi on the web and they carry an extract of corydalis. I emailed them to ask a few questions and learned that it can cause liver problems, but I wonder if it's any worse than the liver damage that can be caused by the huge doses of NSAID's that they put in the most common narcotic pain medications, like hydrocodone and oxycodone. I did some more research and didn't find a lot of evidence that suggests there's much of a risk of addiction with corydalis. I'm definitely going to try it.

A question: it's listed in my herbal reference book as a hypnotic, which makes me think it might be good for sleep problems. Do you find that it improves your sleep? That would be a huge bonus, allowing me to toss out yet another addictive drug, clonazepam, which I take for sleep.

Thank you again for making us all aware of this possibly less damaging alternative.

Oh my. I am only taking 50 mgs twice a day for about a year and having scary side effects. Talk about re-wiring my brain!!! I feel like someone has stuck in their hand and is swirling my brain around! I'm always almost losing my balance completely - looking a little tipsy. My eyes swirl around a paragraph and won't stay on the line. I've lost the ability to focus in the center. It makes me so nervous I don't want to read. I can't write by hand anymore because it's so jerky. I'm way off on answering questions because I can't remember the question. I ask question over and over because I can't remember asking it or what the answer was. My sentences are all jumbled. People have to help me talk because I can't remember my words. Words and logic are the center of my job. I just retired early after 34 years. Thank heaven I had the time in to do that. Sometimes I spout-off on the people that are loving and helping me the most - not good. I thought for sure I had a brain tumor or early onset alzheimers. I'm so glad I found this site. I'm sure it's the Lyrica. I'm going to talk to my doctor immediately about weaning off of the drug. This is much worse than my symptoms. I don't want to lose my mind, my eyesight and my family.

Shar,

I have tears in my eyes reading your post! I used to be a legal proofreader and now I can't even read for entertainment. My fibro started more than 20 years ago, and the last time I was able to work was 1994, but since I started Lyrica it's gotten so much worse.

OMG!!! The lawyers are not going to do a thing until there are thousands of us SCREAMING at them, emailing and calling and writing letters to them every day! It is criminal for the legal profession to tell us that they're not interested in fighting for us until AFTER WE'RE DEAD!

How many of us know at least 10 other people who have fibro? Out of all of those, how many have been seriously harmed or killed by this poison? My therapist -- my mental health care clinician! -- said she has listened to so many stories from her clients about the damage that Lyrica has done to them.

If you ask me, it's time to start screaming at the top of our lungs! I've started by giving links to this board to the people I talk to in the fibro chat room at ProHealth.com and I continue to look for more places where I can share it with other fibro sufferers. I think it's a small but significant victory every time I warn someone in a chat room or on a message board, and it makes them think twice about taking this toxic garbage.

Miranda:

it does seem to help me sleep. not sure if that is from what is in it or that i have less pain to keep me up at night. Look up Valerian root. it is all natural and does not have side effects or interactions.

you can also google Vaxa. they have some really good herb blends. i am taking Deprex and it has helped with my migraines and day headaches.

Hey guys welcome shar, Well Ive been in one of those depressive states I get in because of Lyrica and I was reading Shar comments, it reminded me of going in Subway the other day to buy subs for my kids, IT WAS A DISASTER, i was so embarrassed , I had to have someone read the list of what wanted I couldnt get the words from the paper out of my mouth to the person taking the order! Kinda how it is right now, I cant spell or get the words out to make sense. Of course all those lawyers who wanted to ask me questions havent called back again. I am weaning down but the side affects still seem to be gettin worse. I dont know!

Lyrica has poisioned my system, took for 14 months. Dr. finnaly listened to me, about the side affects. I was completely allerigic. Stopped me cold turkey, went through withdrawls like a herion addict. Severally for 3 months, and still having bad days from time to time. The dr. says I should not be but he is not in my body 24=7 like I am. Not any fun, I do not know if I will ever be the same again. It has been problem after problem since I started an stopped the Lyrica. I is pure poision.

After being on Lyrica for 6 weeks, i developed a severe alegic reaction. I had a rash that enveloped both legs, my back and belly. My legs swole up so much that the skin started to split. The leakage from my legs glued my feet to a reclainer. A skin specialist gave me predesone and a cream. This killed the rash but caused bone density loss that has made me an invalid.

hey everyone, welcome newcomers and yes going off Lyrica is not the thing to do! It will definitely throw you into major withdraws. I ran out one time, just for a day, mind you I was on 900 mg a day, I thought I was going to DIE! It was a terrible feeling! As you know I a coming off Lyrica and am goin down from my regular dose at this pint, which is now 300 mg a day, I am stepping down to 200mg a day ad know there will be withdraw but MUST get of it, like everyone else. I have all side effects as before, nothing has gotten better, vision problems confusion, memory loss, speach problem the list goes on and on. Well as you all know I had 2 lawyers contact me, well there paralegals or whoever asked me a lot of questions! Long story short I got a letter back from both saying there was nothing they could do to help me, but I had they right to keep looking, Wll thank you very much for allowing me to look onwrd, WHATEVER kinda pissed me off. I will keep looking and I am afraid it might b an endless task, one I dont know can handle especially because of my injury, Unfortunatley I am mentally and physically not able to fight too much, depression is a part of Lyrica some of us have. Anyway I am just updating you all. Thanks for listening. Vicky

OMG! I was just surfing for more info and sites like this one, and I actually found a forum where people post about recreational use of just about every prescription drug. My jaw just DROPPED! I can't imagine anyone using Lyrica recreationally!

I debated registering on this forum and posting a warning to these fools of the long-term and very unpleasant side effects they are likely to suffer if they continue to use this drug, but I figured that these are not folks that are going to listen to warnings about their recreational drug of choice. Stupid, stupid, stupid! I am desperate to find as many people as I can who are hurting the way I am, with the hope of getting the legal profession to take us seriously, and here I find idiots who love taking the stuff because it scrambles their brains! Nuts!

BTW, After being off of Lyrica for over two months, I actually have noticed that one of the side effects has indeed reversed. The side effect was sexual in nature, so stop reading if you don't want to hear the personal details. LOL! While I was on Lyrica and for a while after I got off of it, during sex, reaching orgasm would give me a tremendous headache that would last for a half hour and leave lingering depression for hours. Needless to say, my partner wasn't happy either -- Not tonight, dear, it'll give me a headache. After being inactive for about a month, tried again and guess what! No headache! Guess what else! No orgasm!

Sorry to be so graphic. Just one more stupid thing this poison has done to me. Is there no end to the bizarre side effects that we are going to develop as the result of taking something that the lying pHARMaceutical criminals have put out there so they can suck more money out of desperately suffering individuals?

Dave, I am so sorry for what you had to go through. that is the first of have heard of those side effects, how awful. I don't understand why with everything all of us and how many more thousands or maybe even millions (who knows) of people are going through why we can't find someone who would respresent all of us. if he/she won the case it would be very profitable for them. I don't even know what the statue of limitations is on this kind of suit. It has been a little over 3 years since my suicide attempt, but i still have very serious damage to my nervous system. Should we all maybe contact our local congressman or something. I am knew to trying to get this type of help or info. We should all prt our heads together and try to come up with a way to make them listen to us...
