prednisone maintenance 4mg for 10 plus years

After 10 plus years on 4 to 5mg prednisone my Dr. wants to taper me off. I heard that you will no longer produce it naturally in the body after that many years, is that true? With two Auto Immune Diseases I really don't want to remove this medication. His alternative is to go on a relatively new immuno suppressive Medication called Aubagio, anyone taking this/feedback?

I'm a 74 yr old male and have gained 20lbs on prednisone for PMR and my face and stomach are bloated. Dr started me on 25mg, then after 6 wks and blood wk, reduced me down to 12 1/2 mg and then symptoms returned. I went to 12mg and now 10mg. and I'm ok so far. What is the outlook for people like me on prednisone with poly myalgia rheumatica? ## Hello, Rip! How are you? The side effects you've described are common with long-term use of steroids and won't likely go away, as long as you are taking it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, fluid retention, acne, nervousness and insomnia. Unfortunately, there aren't many other treatment options for this condition and the Prednisone is usually taken for a year or more. Have you had any im...

I went to the ER a little over a week ago for a severe allergic reaction. I'm not sure what caused the reaction but I had woken up with a swollen face and swollen itchy eyes. My left eye was so swollen it was almost completely closed. I had no problems with my breathing. When I arrived at the ER, they put me on on IV with prednisone and some allergy medicine. I went home about an hour later but he prescribed me prednisone pills to start the next day. The first day I was to take 6, then 5, then 4....until the end of day 6. I took the doses for the first 2 days but those 2 days were rough. I couldn't sleep at all. I was miserable. I ended up tapering down faster than prescribed. So the 3rd day I only took 3 and then 2 then 1. I haven't had any since last Thursday. So I took th...

My Mother has a large white round prednisone pill with 3342 on one side and she can't remember the dose ## Just posted question on prednisone dose. Large white round pill with 3442 written on it. I put wrong numbers in. ## Does it also have DAN DAN on it? If so, then it is a 10mg Prednisone tablet, a steroid used to treat conditions such as allergies and inflammation. ## If you are on prednisone 10 mg for allergies and you're taking them for 12 days one a day will you have side effects. Had a steroid shot two weeks ago and had no problems.

comneslone

Is comneslone 20 actually prednisone ## Hi Boa, Unfortunately there are no drugs or medications that match the name "comneslone", so I was unable to get any results searching for it. Is this something you ordered from overseas? I saw another thread on here a while back, where someone ordered prednisone, but was actually sent something called comneslone instead. However like I said, it doesn't appear to be a real drug name. So unless it's an uncommon medication from a foreign country, I see no other reason why it wouldn't turn up in any search engines. Does anyone else recognize this drug? ## Yes Comneslone is Prednisolone IP 20. Manufactured by Combitic Global Caplet Pvt. Ltd. It's Generic. ## No it isn't. I got caught with this. am very familiar with Prednis...

hi there.. i have prednisone 20mg, my doctor advice me to take only 10mg. for 5 days but its already expired last oct 2014 and now is march 2015. isit ok to intake it? since im having a contact dermatitis. pls help me dont know what to do. thanks ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Medications do tend to lose effectiveness over time, this one doesn't become dangerous, but it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. Have you asked you doctor about that? They may feel that it's okay for you to try it. The FDA classifies this medication as being a steroid and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, acne, weight gain, fluid retention, elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate.

Difference between Intravenous prednisone and tablets.
2 Replies RSS
I recently half a CT angiogram to map out my arteries for a Prostate Artery Embolisation. Because I am allergic to contrast dye the radioligist prescribed 5o mg of prednisone the night before and 1 hour before the procedure. It was in tablet form. The side effects of the prednisone were awful ....severe stomach pain, nausea, constant gnawing in stomach, headaches and weight gain. Its over four weeks now and symptoms have lessened but still there. All from only two 50 mg doses. I discussed this with the radioligist and told him that I didn't want to proceed with the Prostate Embolisation because of the prednisone. He said they would use intravenous prednisone and this would prevent any stomach issues. Can anyone here back this up? Has anyone here had intravenous prednisone and had st...
