Prednisone Overview

Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant drug. Regularly use of low doses prednisone
Post a Reply
I'm a generally healthy male of 58. Had heavy bronchitic asthma all my life. Till 30th year I regularly had tapered courses of prednisone. After that it went so well that I, except once in the few years, can life my life well with just spiriva and seretide. But then again I feel I live up to, say, 75 % of my optimum this way. Since a few months I add, on a weekly basis, one day 20 mg, next 10 mg, next 5 mg prednisone and I'm near the 100% that way. Would this use be considered a form of long time use, with the well known dangers of (creeping) side-effects (I don't notice any, actually) or as such a low dose/such a mild regiment that there's no harm to be expected? Thanks for any reaction!

is it safe to take prednisone while taking hydrocodon 5 325
1 Reply RSS
is it safe to take prednisone while taking hydrocodone acetaminophen 5-325? ## @dovieann, I searched for possible interactions via The University of Maryland's drug interaction tool and haven't seen any discrepancies listed between Prednisone and Hydrocodone/APAP. So based off that information alone, I'd say there shouldn't be any problems using the two together outside of their own individual side effects. However in my opinion, it would still be wise to inform your doctor before taking any, just to play it safe. I hope this helps!

Sister PASSED AWAY

My sister was taking Prednisone and Nucynta for her Rheumatoid Arthritis and it weakened her immune system. She had only been taking these 2 medications about a year. One day she got strep and it killed her. Within a couple of days of feeling sick, she was rushed the ER and passed away. She died of septic shock. I blame the drugs. ## Hello, Diana! How are you? I am so very sorry for your loss. Steroid class medications, such as Prednisone, can cause suppression of the immune system, along with other side effects, such as weight gain, acne, dizziness and fluid retention. So, there is a chance that it might have contributed, but I'm not a doctor, so I can't say with certainty. How are you taking it? Are you okay? ## Hi, yes thank you. I'm ok. This was two, almost three years a...

Need help with tablet count for prescription. I'm a student and I have to calculate the number of tablets needed to fill the rx. Prescription reads Prednisone 10MG # QS. The SIG is: 30mg bid x 2d 25mg bid x 2d 20mg bid x 2d 15mg bid x 2d 10mg qd x 2d 5mg qd x 2d (then stop) I also need help with writing the patient label based on this rx ... Thank you. Alan ## Hi Alan, I'm not quite familiar with your method for calculating the number of pills. Is there a type of formula you are following to get where you are? It's definitely something that one would consider to be as simple as putting the right number of pills into the right container, but I can see that it is much more than just that. Below are a couple of sites that I thought could be of help to you when calculating or co...

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, acne and fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Don't worry much about a change in the way your pills look when they come from pharmacy. It is because the pharmacy obtained the pills from a different pharmaceutical company for a less expensive price. It happens all the time. It's ok to look into it but I would not obsess over it. Talk to the pharmacist where you picked up the...

Im an 18 year old Male, supposed to be a fun time being 18 and all….but boy has prednisolone stuffed up my last year or so. Maybe i just react worse to this drug than some people, but the way its hit me has to be lived to be believed. The irritable uncomfortable feeling (even when your trying to relax on the couch), the anger and mood swings that are constant, the weight gain and wanting to eat all the time, the insomnia which makes you feel even worse for lack of sleep, the gigantic swelling in the face to make a once normal face a horror show, the fever which is so often there, the acne all over my body, the lack of confidence I now have, the depressing way you now interact with the ones you love, and one of the worst things to go through, the looking back and remembering how go...

I have been bitten by an insect on reverse of my hand and its now swollen, am now prescribed with trolic 5mg. What does it do really and as I'm on Arv's will it be effective? ## Trolic (Prednisone) is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels (lack of certain substances that are usually produced by the body and are needed for normal body functioning). Prednisone is also used to treat other conditions in patients with normal corticosteroid levels. These conditions include certain types of arthritis; severe allergic reactions; multiple sclerosis (a disease in which the nerves do not function properly); lupus (a disease in which the body attacks many of its own organs); and certain conditions that affect the lungs, skin, eyes, kidneys b...
