Prednisone Overview

Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant drug. It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases (such as moderate allergic reactions) and (at higher doses) some types of cancer, but has significant adverse effects. Because it suppresses the immune system, it leaves patients more susceptible to infections. Prednisone tapering... numbness normal?
I recently had a baby on the 21 Sept. I had a drug eruption afterwards. I had an epidural they gave my hydrocodone, ibuprofen for my pain because I got stitches after delivery...then on the 1st Oct I had a drug eruption that was lots of tiny bump-like pus pimples that broke out on my tummy, onto my breasts, then my wrists. So then they referred my to a dermatologist that day and I started one dose of aantibiotics but because I was itching and still fighting the breakout the next day they started me on prednisone. First 4days....40mg, 30mg for the next 3...then when I started 20mg; dermatologist called that day and told me to add 3 more pills to up my dose bcuz i was still itchy. Oct 10 was my first dose of 50mg, I am on the 5th day...on the 15th I go down to 40mg for 5days...etc. But la...

Prednisone 20mg
I have been prescribed prednisone 20mg And directed to take 2 tablets daily for 5 days I am 17 male and 158lbs. Do I take 1 tablet each 12 hours or do I take the 2 tablets together each day as one?? ## Although I would have your doctor confirm this - In most cases, the term "twice a day" usually refers to having one pill every 12 hours (morning and evening). I believe it is mainly to help keep the medication in your system for as long as possible, throughout the course of 24hrs. Are they extended-release capsules? I hope this helps! ## can anyone suggest me an exercise to make my hip muscle strong I am sufferring from "Inward Knee Collapse".I learnt /that ineed to streghten my Hip Muscles. ## When it say take 2 tablets by mouth daily for 5 day it mean I can take 2 tables...

REACTION TO PREDNISONE
Hi My daughter is 15 and was prescribed prednisone 20mg for inflammation brought on by an upper respiratory infection. She took the first dose about 1/2 hour after a meal and within 1/2 hour, she was experiencing severe abdominal cramping and nausea. She was able to vomit and it was clear with a few solids but mostly clear. I spoke with the doctor after the pharmacist recommended that it might be too much for her. The doctor said to continue and he called in anti-nausea. I really want to stop because she was so violently ill. Since it was only the first dose, will she be okay to stop. I know that it is my decision to do so but I just would like a second opinion. ## I'm am so glad you posted the question. I thought that maybe I was overreacting. I took one 50mg pill of prednisone bef...

Trolic 5mg what does it do?
I have been bitten by an insect on reverse of my hand and its now swollen, am now prescribed with trolic 5mg. What does it do really and as I'm on Arv's will it be effective? ## Trolic (Prednisone) is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels (lack of certain substances that are usually produced by the body and are needed for normal body functioning). Prednisone is also used to treat other conditions in patients with normal corticosteroid levels. These conditions include certain types of arthritis; severe allergic reactions; multiple sclerosis (a disease in which the nerves do not function properly); lupus (a disease in which the body attacks many of its own organs); and certain conditions that affect the lungs, skin, eyes, kidneys b...

swollen lip/small round circle/swells up in mornings
Yes I have a swollen round bump on my upper lip, it swells in the morning, then goes down during the day. Sometimes it burns. I am breaking out. I went to theskin doctor and he days,it isnt herpes. Please help.what medince can Itake to make this swollen upper lip go away. I tried doctors, I am not getting any answers, I am from Virginia. Doctor.gave me predesone. ## Have you tried taking the Prednisone? It may be an allergic reaction to something and the steroid can help with that. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, acne and fluid retention. Did the doctor take a swab of it? That would be the only way to rule it out as being herpes. ## Yes he did, and it showed it wasnt. Its just a small round bump circle on my upper lip that wont seem to go away.
