Prednisone Overview

Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant drug. I have chronic osteoarthritis through my whole body including my spine, plus other bone abnormalities. I have had chronic pain since I was 12 (18 yrs ago). Doctors have never taken my pain seriously until recently when I was properly diagnosed. I am now on Endep, Lyrica and Gabapentin which together helps with all my nerve pain. But even strong pain killers didn't help with my joint and back inflammation. I had heard about people having success with Prednisone but I had never really considered it for myself because I'm still young and had heard of all the horrible side effects. My pain had been causing me to become deeply depressed. Doctors were treating me like a drug addict whenever I went to ask for a prescription. I was getting to the point of being completely crippled and b...

How long for klor con20 to ease symptoms?
2 Replies RSS
Hi! Ive been feeling not quite myself Over the past week. Nausea, headaches, profusely sweating at random times, out of breath, cramp in calf for 2 full days, anxiety... I just this morning realized my potassium is probably out of whack. I have some klorcon20 that i had been prescribed last time this happened. Anyone know an average of how long it takes it to start easing symptoms? Ive been on prednisone for 10 days and wondering if that could've triggered this? ## I am very sorry about how you're feeling. However, there is a chance that the symptoms you're experiencing are actually due to the Prednisone and not low potassium. Thus, before taking the supplements, it would be best to have it checked out by your doctor. Taking too much potassium can be just as dangerous as not...

My cortisol level was very low 1.3 for for asthma I take a lot of prednisone but will oxycodone or morphine effect my cortisol level ## My cortisol level was very low 1.3 I have severe asthma and take a lot of prednisone and solu medrol question would oxycodone or morphine time release effect my cortisol level ## Adrenal insufficiency is usually caused by taking steroids in high doses and then withdrawing from the abruptly. So no, it isn't likely that the narcotics have had anything to do with it. How much Prednisone do you take, how often do you take it and for how long of a time period? While taking high doses for a long period of time, your adrenal gland detects that there are already enough steroids in the body, so it stops producing cortisol. A slow withdrawal must be done to a...

Hello everyone, can someone please tell me how can I taper of prednisone 10mg. I was giving this medication because of sinus inflammation. My order was one pill a day I only took it for 11days and I don't like the way it make me feel, I was wondering if I can just stop taking the pill and also what is the best non steroidal inflammatory medication. ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You should double check with your prescriber, but usually a taper only needs to be done, if you've been taking it for 3 weeks or more, thus you should be able to just stop taking it. What side effects did you experience? The FDA lists the typical ones from this steroid as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, weight gain, acne, nervousness and insomnia. There really is no best NSAID...

Pain Medication vs Surgery

I have had two back surgeries. I have had the injections, I have taken Prednisone 10 mg, cyclobenzapr 10 mg. and Hydroco acetaminop 10 mg. The doctors informed me that I have 2 pinched nerves. I have difficulty in walking. The doctor asked me Can you live with it. I'm 74 years old and he asks me that question. I like to work, go fishing, go on hikes, walk the dogs, play ball with the grand kids. 5 mg Hydro twice a day is like taking sugar coated candy. I started taking 3 a day. No help here. I'm at the cross walk. Now what do I do. ## Hello, Bear! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. There is a higher dosage of this medication available that contains 10mgs of the Hydrocodone. i accidentally had one dose of prednisone already for 1 day
Post a Reply
I had been given a 30 mg prednisone which should be cut in half and be taken for twice a day. But I accidentally took the whole tablet in the morning already. So it's like i took the other dose(the next half one) in advance for the day. I'm not sure if still it would just be okay or not, or if it wouldn't be effective anymore after that
