I am taking Prednisone 5 mgs. Can i take Clonafec 100 mgs along with it? I need to know if I can take these two meds together? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Were they both prescribed for you? They are sometimes prescribed together, but you should not do so, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. It may cause you to experience more intense side effects than usual, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation.

Prednisone affecting my 1-dose Methadone maintenance
10 Replies RSS
Hello. I'm an addict in recovery, using the methadone maintenance as the way to wean off opiates. I currently take 1 95mg dose (methadone) in the morning, and I'm weaning down 2mg/month. I also have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and major lumbar pain. I take only Aleve for pain, as I'm told the methadone will not help me because I only take 1 single dose/day and not for pain management. I have had 2 surgeries on my back. A simple laminectomy, but my 2nd surgery was spinal fusion surgery. I have a metal cage in my lower back, but now; I need a 3rd surgery to repair the discs higher on my spine, as all the pain has returned and my very well-respected doctor highly suggests this. He ordered a series of steroidal epidural shots in my back. I did the 1st round of sho...

Red patch with a large clear fluid buble in the middle. We went to Emergency at St. Peters Hospital, in New Brunswick, NJ. Doctors didn't figure up what is the problem. My wife ask to get pictures of the arms and send to here PCP. The PCP sugested to use bactracin cream. After didn't help, consulted a dermatologist, who suggested to stop the topical cream, and the bubles dried out. I have to add in here myb wife is a 10 years cancer surviver, and after several chemotherapy, she is alergic to nyomicin, cortison cream, iodine, and and one chemotherapy medicine. Expired prednisone
5 Replies RSS
Have been taking 20mg pills split into 4 pieces. The pills are expired from 2010. I'm taking the taper off 6- to 1 portions per day. It dosen't seem to be taking effect although it has worked in the past. Have bronchial infection. I guess I should call the doc or pharmacy ## As far as expired meds go, according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml It's possible that it may still be effective, but my personal assumption is that it lost a good percentage of its potency by now, having been 3 years old. When was the last time you tried taking it? ## I have bron...

Can Somebody Help Find A Doctor In New Jersey That Will Prescribe Pain Medication For Me
11 Replies RSS
I am a 64 yr. old woman with severe rheumatoid arthritis & damage in my spine including stenosis in two areas of my spine-neck & lower back. Most doctors are unwilling to prescribe pain medication that will relieve my pain. Would appreciate names of doctors who can help me. ## Well, you aren't going to have any choice but to go through pain management, due to the new laws. They make it so that a general practitioner, or surgeon will only be able to prescribe pain medications for short-term use, such as for a couple of weeks immediately after someone has had surgery or been in an accident. Learn more pain management details here. In reality, most general doctors really aren't comfortable prescribing such medications, because they aren't trained in how to actually hand...

Steroid Induced Psychosis... Would like to raise awareness
4 Replies RSS
Hello all, I am here to share my story and help raise awareness of some of the side effects that can occur, even on lower doses of Prednisone. Physicians are to quick to hand out these powerful drugs and in most cases leave their patients in the dark, regarding what can occur, both mentally and physically. I have made it my mission in life to spread the word. Here is my story. I suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease and my GI wanted me to try taking a lower dose of Prednisone, 10mg daily, until we could get the mild flare I had been having under control. I had never had steroids before and did not question him. It was his intention to have me take them long term to see if it could keep my disease in remission since no other medication had worked. I am thankful, however, that he started...

this small white pill is cut in half with a line on one side;the other side has the numbers 54 0ver 612 ## Hello, Anna! How are you? This tablet contains 5mgs of Prednisone, which is a steroid class medications that's used to treat various medical conditions, such as allergic reactions, swelling and immune disorders. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, acne and fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Don't worry much about a change in the way your pills look when they come from pharmacy. It is because the pharmacy obtained the pills from a different pharmaceutical company for a less expensive price. It happens all the time. It's ok to look into it but I would not obsess over it. Talk to the pharmacist where you picked up the...

overdose of prednisone

I have been put on Augmentin, Klarithran 500mg for a ten day period and have to take them twice a day. Was also give Prednisone 5mg (starting with 8 tabs per day). I accidently took them twice a day. Feeling nauseous, very dizzy and fainted this morning and seemed to have a mild seizure. Could this be from the Prednisone or the antibiotics? ## Hello, Jo! How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? It is difficult to say for sure which one cause it, since it is a possibility from all 3 of them, according to the NIH. However, it is a situation that could become dangerous, if left unchecked, so you need to contact your doctor immediately, or seek emergency medical attention.
