I am 43 and have been on high doses of prednisone for over 20 . At this time I am working with a new pulmolgist trying to get me off. Can anyone tell me what are the side effects of getting of this stuff. I know the damage it's done being on it. ( I have osteoporosis ,I break bones , diabetes, high blood pressure , glaucoma, , depression, anxiety , I have had steroid psychosis so bad while being hospitalized for asthma the nurses were terrified . ## Hi, Lori! 86 year old woman been prescribed 8 x 5mg tablets a day for a week can they be evened out over the day or do they have to be taken in one go ## Hi, Lyn! If her doctor didn't specify otherwise, she should be able to split them up throughout the day. Many times people are just told to take them all at once to make sure they don't forget to take the next dose later. It's been proven through medication compliance testing that people will usually remember to take one dose, but subsequent ones are typically forgotten. Prednisone Side Effect
I was recently put on a high dosage (50mg) of Prednisone a day. I was to stay on this dosage for three days, then cut it in half for three days, and then repeat until I was, by the fifteenth day, completely off the medication. Unfortunately, when my doctor prescribed me Prednisone, she momentarily forgot about psych history. On the fifth day of me taking Prednisone, I had a psychosis episode, and came to the realisation that my chaotic moods, and the sudden extreme bouts of depression and lack of concentration, had been a side effect of the medication. After speaking with my doctor, we dropped the dosage right down to 5mg and I was on that for four days before stopping completely, which was five days ago. The problem is, my moods are still not back to normal, and neither is my ability t...

Can someone take 10 mg of Prednisone then just stop or do you have to taper off? ## Just one tablet likely won't require a taper, but it's also not going to help you much, since that won't give it a chance to have much of a therapeutic effect in the body. She changed it over cilex 500 mg 3 x a day. Also out me on prednisolone 25mg. I have only taken one tablet. I cannotsleep and jaw is clenshing. Been reading up on side effects. I am going to Bali in a few days. Dont want to risk picking up a stimach bug. But have a tight chest with coughing and sire throaght. What should i do?? I also take zelitrex 500mg d...

Expired prednisone
Have been taking 20mg pills split into 4 pieces. The pills are expired from 2010. I'm taking the taper off 6- to 1 portions per day. It dosen't seem to be taking effect although it has worked in the past. Have bronchial infection. I guess I should call the doc or pharmacy ## As far as expired meds go, according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml It's possible that it may still be effective, but my personal assumption is that it lost a good percentage of its potency by now, having been 3 years old. When was the last time you tried taking it?

Is There Interaction Known Between Rafassal And Prednison Prednisone
my husband suffered after radiation from collitis. He got rafassal caplets for 5 months and later on prednison(60mg aday during alittle over 3 weeks.)All of a sudden he developed being lame;can't move his legs and body anymore.can't stand up ! Is this a known interreaction from those medications? He uses many other medications as well but already for a much longer time with no side effects.In a short time it is as if the mucles faded away after he got oedemia,which also disappeared.He has a heart problem(pace maker and defribilator since 2004). ## Prednisone is a bad drug, and probably caused the paralysis.
