False Positive For Opiates From Prednisone

I attend a methadone clinic and twice in a row now I have tested positive for opiates when I haven't done any. I've taken some prescription drugs and through some research I've concluded that it was the prednisone that caused it. The good thing is my counselor is going to advocate for me to get my urine retested for free instead of having to pay the $45. So hopefully this may help someone because they also found false positives for other drugs from ppl taking prednisone.

How can I prove this to my counselor? I was taking predozone and a z-pak when I took the drug test. My counselor called me today and told me I failed my drug test for morphine. I'm so upset cause I havnt done anything but my methadone. Please help and Thanku!

I had a similar thing happen to me! I lost all my take homes from my place because of this false pos. It came up as opiates in my test. And I haven't touched them in over 3 years!!! I did have Tylenol w/codeine & percocets legally prescribed from my dentist which I handed into my clinic & signed a release to contact dentist. And that was last year! When they retested my sample, it came up codeine & morphine. I definitely did not take them!! I don't even know what morphine looks like! That's not an easily accessible drug either. I have taken antibiotics, prednisone, beta blockers (blood pressure), over the counter medications, Tylenol/excedrin, and supplements at the smoothie place. I am demanding a hair test. Those are good/show pos drugs for 90 days. So hopefully it axonerates me. Anyone have this happen w/similar meds? And anyone have a hair test? Results?

I had the same experience. I tested positive for opiates and I was taking a z-pac and prednisone. I'm on probation and can go to jail for this, any responses would be helpful.

I take about 15 different medications. I've never failed a drug test but my Dr stopped writing pain scripts due to some patient causing a problem. He referred me to a pain management Dr who is also on the board of medical director. She has never touched my body and always stays in a chair at least 5 feet from patients. She has a bad knee. I have numerous chronic pain issues. She reduced my meds and for 1 1/2 yrs treated me like I was a junkie lying to her for drugs.

I've had 2 bad urine tests when after seeing my primary care dr for 15 yrs for these problems. I've seen so many Drs and PT Drs as well. Never in 15 yrs have I failed a drug test which most times were random. My primary is directly across the street from my home and has treated my large family all the yrs he has been in practice which is like 20 yrs. I am a person who has had her son locked up for drugs and have another living homeless with his wife and I have no contact with him.

My honesty and the honesty of others is a major rule to never break. But now this Dr who misunderstands me most of the time has come up with a failed drug test because I ate everything bagels. I was on Percocet and morphine. Then in February claims I failed another test because I had alcohol in my urine. I haven't had a drink since 2012 when my son married. I live in a place where there are only 2 or 3 places to drink and I've never drank at home.

I was raising my grandchildren until last summer but then I became bedridden due to being in so much pain. I can barely get someone to bring me a bit of food to my room much less go to store and buy me alcohol. However it is not mentioned in any control that I can't have a drink. The bottle of meds say do not drink and take med.

After seeing me in March and writing me scripts for my morphine and percocet, I got a letter 2 weeks later stating I was being released because I was taking the script she wrote and a script for Xanax that my primary has been giving me and I was taking that before he became my Dr. Every month this Dr for pain management checked my long list of meds. The primary sent her my list with my medical records. Now I've been without pain meds since May 4th.

The pain management Dr didn't even mention a failed urine test. I never took any other drugs that were not prescribed and I've not had a drink since 2012 which really isn't against the rules. I had some antibiotics from primary and prednisone because I was sick past winter for 3 months. I don't know if those short term meds could have caused the alcohol or not.
