I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Pood, how did you get salmon calcitonin? The doc I saw said its not RX anymore- it has been advised against by the fda maybe due to cancer issues.

I thought your doc said she wouldn't RX it either and or that it didn't exist anymore?

Are you using the nasal spray or injections?

Jan, have you seen those ads on TV for a tampon type device that goes in and stops the bladder from leaking? Could be a good option until the Prolia wears off. May be something you want to discuss with an urologist. Be well~Pood

Janie~I had one Reclast at the hospital and thank goodness the girls were both here at the time because it really affected my mind and I was told that my eyes did not focus and just sort of rolled around in my head and it lasted a good month. I certainly would not recommend this one either. I'm on Salmon Calcitonin now and no problems. I know it's slow but slow can win the race. Had zero problems with it before. I think someone got nose cancer from it and it got a gad name but it really is a good drug. Mom used it for 26 years and did wonderfully on it. Never broke another bone and hers was really bad - could not even shut a door but what a rib or back bone would snap. I took her to an out of town Dr. and he gave it to her and no more problems. Pood

fOR EVERYONE TAKING PROLIA. dO not take anymore. They tell you it is good for you but it is not. I still have the rash problems, along with acid reflux.
I also had urinary tract infections while on Prolia every three months I had
to take those pills to clear up my infection. Now that I am off Prolia I have
only had one infection and I am taking a medicine for 3 months that should
help me not to have anymore after I discontinue this prescription. Also I am
drinking Cranberry Juice once a day to help keep down UTI.s Don't do Prolia.
Before I was on Prolia I took the infusion Reclast and I did not have any effects
but I am still not sure about that medicine either because they are all in the same
family. Beware of Prolia and any other thing they recommend.

Pam is so correct. Pharmacists know drugs. That is their job and their only job and that's why they know them so very, very well. If I have a question, I often ask my pharmacist, not my Dr. as it has to do with drugs. Pood

I understand. I've been taking peridium for the pain, but it only takes the edge off. I've had several UTI's since January, but then realized that that all the pain I'm experiencing isn't always a UTI...it's just urinary pain. Going back to urologist and my oncologist. It's lousy feeling this way all the time!

I think you just said it all, and very accurately at that... It is so great to know that one is not alone. Such a big sense of relief is felt knowing someone else understands and has similar side effects- again that your are not alone...it's so comforting to know that it is not you, that all your side effects are not "in your head", but real... It's validating and calming to know we can reach out to each other and know we are not Alone.

Prolia isn't an infusion, I believe that may be another drug. Prolia is an injection give every 6 months. good luck I hope you have no side effect.

Hi Vonnie~first thing you do is get some real pain management meds, not over the counter junk. Secondly, make sure you are taking magnesium 500mg every night when you go to bed and also take extra calcium after meals or drinking some milk since you are not hungry. I'm sure you have Ensure and Boost down under and you could have one or some of one of those to get some nutrition in you. I don't know what will help with the confusion. That's a new one for me. Your weather should be changing for the cooler soon as we are in spring going into summer so you are in fall going into winter. That may help some too. I don't know to what government body you report about bad side effects from medications but I'm sure you can find out easily and report them. There used to be a phone number for every country to call Amgen, the manufacturer, and tell them your problems. Make sure you have them all written down so you don't miss anything and if something new happens, call again.
Be well~Pood

After discussion with my Orthopedic and Prime Doctors, I began takin Prolia shots in 2011 with no side effects occuring. However, after shot three week ago, I have been having a great deal of pain in left shin. This pain is very debilitating and continous. Fortunately, I had the good sense to contact my prime doctor. I have had outpatient ultra sound tests and x-rays to check for blood clots - none; and both pain medication and prednisone. My left shin still hurts and is weak. The doctor who administered the shot was absolutely no help when I called the day after the shot with pain. He seemed little concerned, suggested tylenol (ha); " maybe you have a blood clot ...I don't know.." At no time did he suggest that I contact ER or Prime Doctor! This episode may not be over, either. IT HAS BEEN PAINFUL AND EXPENSIVE. What about MY pain & suffering?

I am so very sorry that this happened to you. I'm so glad you didn't get another shot of Prolia. Is there a dental specialist that deals with Prolia scenarios, since this is now a noted side effect of the drug?

I can tell you that I took 3 Prolia injections. I believe it caused me to be in more pain than I was with my bones and joints.
Then in April 2014 I should have been getting my next injection but my jawbone crushed around my implant. Then infection set in. I went to see my GYN to get my injection and exam. When he asked me had I been having any new problems, I told him nothing that woud be in his field, but I believed my jawbone may have broken. He immediately became alarmed and said we had to stop the Prolia, I couldn't have my treatmemt that day! He wanted me to see an oral surgeon right away. So I did. Following the xrays with the technician, the surgeon walks in, looks at my file, and says to the 2 assistants, "Prolia. She's been taking Prolia. Well, bottom line, my jawbone crushed, gotten badly infected, have to have surgery in his office. He had to remove my implant, clean up in my jaw to get the infection and crushed fragments removed as best as he could. I was in sooo much pain! The infection made it difficult for the anesthesia to work. It was a horrifying experience. Next time my GYN's office called about me taking my next Prolia shot, I refused it. Not had one since. I can't afford to get my partials replaced now, which aren't working well now that I lost my implant through all of that. I have no doubt Prolia caused it.

It is true. I worked in a pharmacy for 24 years. Doctors would call and get information about the drug from the pharmacist. Many times the pharmacist would call a doctor's office because they were prescribing a drug that was equivalent another the patient is already on, or one that would interfere with another. Yet, doctors also belittle and treat pharmacists like they are beneath them. I'e seen it happen too many times. And pharmacists just take it.

I'm sorry you're going through this Diana. I'm glad it is getting better. Don't have any surgery until you see if it will resolve when prolix wears off hopefully. Try the Norman parathyroid center for advice. I'm gong through all of this and never took prolia. My life is a living hell with 4 diseases including osteoporosis now. I'm dizzy all the the time. Don't feel well. Losing weight Etc. prolia would've killed me for sure. Ugh.

That is my theory and the new black box warning or one of them is about hypercalcimia. Yet people's doctors deny its caused by prolia.

1. Take your list of concerns to your doctor.
2. Tell family members how bad you feel so they understand.
3. Be gentle with yourself and know it's the medicine and not you.
4. Tell family and Doctor that many others have many of the same symptoms as you do---and don't allow anyone to make you feel like a hypochondriac -
5. Get help from your doctor for all your side effects.
