I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Skitty~Mom had migraines too and no problem with Calcitonin. The problem is getting a Dr. to let us have it. They don't think it works and I KNOW differently. Stupid excuse -- you're too old!

Roni! I know how you feel and that's awful. Same exact happened with my 81 year old dad. His Doctor (we're in Michigan) gave him Prolia for Osteoporosis. That was after the doctor left him on Prednisone for over 5 years! Osteoporosis? Not! Prednisone ruined his bones, Prolia put him down within 2 days and he never recovered, ended up getting a Vena Cava filter (not sure if that was necessary either) in the midst of the turmoil, and now I've heard there's a Class Action suit for the filters!!! Please, please keep all of us updated on your mom. My dad was also 81 when he was given the horrible drug. Thinking of you.

Prolia was given to my 81 year old mom. She can hardly walk now , has pain all over her body and feels like she is dying . Class Action Lawsuit is what Iam going to look into , this is horrific . Makes me furious.

Thanks Pood, I'm going to ask my r do about calcitonin nasal. Just worried because I have migraines and spraying something in my nose may trigger them. I'm having more issues now with elevated pth & low d, high b12 and another high urine calcium so I need to get this figured out hopefully before I do anything else.

Thanks Pood, I'm in a depression from my loss. I think I would love a poodle but I have not had a dog for many years. I'm not sure if I can take care of one because I'm used to cats and it's a lot more work. Plus I think our remaining cat might be horrified by s dog. I'm even nervous to get another cat with her because she has a pee/ territorial problem. How big are toy poodles?

After my 1st injection I realized I had sore lumps in my groin area. I was mis-diagnosed with a sports injury. After my second injection all the lymph nodes in my body became swollen. After a biopsy, I was diagnosed with stage 4 small lymphocytic lymphoma and started chemo. I strongly feel that the Prolia caused the cancer and my friend who is cancer researcher agrees!

Skitty~I'll tell you one thing for sure. If you get a little Poodle you are in for a lot of loving. The worst punishment in this world for a Poodle is to be absent from it's owner. Mine is at my feet as I write here, on the sofa with me when I watch TV and has her own pillow on my bed. They are a little expensive tho as they have like human hair and have to have hair cuts every few months or so. It's so fun to spoil them. They are good puppies and don't get into things like other puppies do. Paper is always a source of joy if we can get into it -- a dropped paper towel or something!!!!

Skitty~I think that may be where women are getting in trouble with Calcitonin. I only put mine in a nostril at night. An injection lasts longer and cannot be undone as quickly as just 'insufflating' something. I was reading about it on a drug site and intranasal administration was not that much more than a placebo so I feel quite safe with it. The injection had a higher rate of problems.

Grannyvee~mine never hurt and when one took off and ended up as saddled PE's in my lungs, I thought I had hypotension. I thought the ER Doc was insane when he yelled out 'cardiac' and they were on me like fleas on a dog. They were a present from being on 10-20 mg Pred every day for a year and did not taper down - just had to quit cold turkey and my blood went insane. Thankfully, no cardiac damage or brain damage. Just $6 grand for a shot to break them up. This was also the wonderful Doc that gave me the Prolia injection. As she says: I have every reason in the world to hate her but that would only really hurt me. Pood

Poor.

I've had several blood in the past and they do make your leg or arm hurt. If the clot is not deep, one can feel the bump.

Thanks Pood, I will try to find another doctor who will let me try it. My hematologist said calcitonin and forteo are ok for me but I'm not sure if he will RX for me. The other doc said forteo is ok depending on what is going on with my pth. He said no one RX calcitonin anymore. I would rather inject it though.

Proliaperil! My dad had the exact same pain (one of his issues). Pain in his shin, calf, etc. Mom took him to his primary care doctor which was the one who prescribed Prolia to my dad. Doctor said he could feel a blood clot in dad's leg and sent him to the hospital. They did x-rays, couldn't see a blood clot but the doctor who saw him felt a need to send dad by ambulance to a hospital an hour away and have an IVC (Vena Cava filter) put in just in case there was a clot and they didn't want it to move to dad's lung. So dad got double whammied between Prolia and the many side effects and Prolia causing the pain and doctors putting in a vena cava filter which now have a Class Action Suit for patients who had them!!!! Original reason that dad's Primary doctor prescribed Prolia was because he said dad had osteoporosis but he's also the doctor who left my dad on Predinisone for 5-10 years so you can figure out what was REALLY wrong with dad's bones! Dad continued to be on Prednisone until his dying day! Anyway, no doctor could ever see a blood clot in dad's leg. They couldn't figure out what happened to it. A bunch of nonsense! There is no way his doctor could say 100% sure that dad had a blood clot simply by "feeling" it in his leg. so disgusting. That's part of what Prolia does. Makes peoples bones hurt. Dad's doctor didn't have dad on calcium or Vitamin D. Grrrr! You can read my previous posts starting October 2014 if you wish to see all the problems dad had. I sure wish you the best of luck and that you start to feel better. Thank you for posting on here so we all know and I hope you report through Medwatch on the FDA website.

Proliaperil~blood clots don't hurt. That's why they are so dangerous. This guy sounds like a real loser. Glad for you that there were no clots but it is strange that the shin is hurting as usually Prolia attacks the thigh bone and fractures it. We have one right here from Canada. I would not trust an X-ray. I would demand at the least a CT scan although a MRI is preferable but costs more. They can see more than an X-ray and can tell if it is going to fracture or if there are any problems with ligaments, tendons, etc. Be well~Pood

Jan~that does not read well to me at all. You are getting no real pain meds, apparently no antibiotics for UTI's and it generally only burns after having a catheter in for a few days and it takes a week or so to heal up. Someone is missing something somewhere IMO. May be a dumb question but are you drinking a lot of water as it helps or have you cut back due to the pain? I promise 500mg of Magnesium/day will help with the muscle pain -- that is Prolia attacking a muscle trying to get more calcium since that's the only place in our bodies it can get it other than the supplements we take. Wish I could just give all of you a great big hug and tell you it will be okay and it will be in the future, not too distant future I hope. Pood

Skitty~I asked another doctor. He read all about it and said it's fine and wrote me out a script for a year. I would guess the person that got cancer from it misused it. Probably used it in the same nostril every day instead of changing every day and it sure does exist because I have it. I am VERY CONFIDENT that it is perfectly fine for all of us.
