Prolia Side Effects (Page 26)
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Faith (# 2658)
Has anyone noticed that in the new ads they now list some of the same side effects that they had been denying ?
I had 1 Prolia Injection 5 years ago - when it first came out - and I had terrible side-affects that are still with me now - I had pain all over - and in my mouth I developed hard bone lumps where my tooth roots are, to this day I have pain when I go to the Dentist as it interferes with taking x-rays or any other work. The problem with this its an injection - unlike pills, that you can stop and the poison will leave in due time, but with injections - its stays on and one suffers.
No I have not had any more injections - and now I see TV ads for this Poison again.
Re: Elaine (# 2656)
Hi Elaine. I had my last injection a year ago but it’s strange that so many things have happened to my skin. First I had terrible hives last year and since then I have more broken veins and moles appeared on my face. It’s very strange. Do you think the prolia was linked? My consultant won’t give me any more and my last scan showed that my osteoporosis is now ostopeana. I just walk all I can and eat oily fish etc
Re: Gloria (# 2647)
My last injection was January 2016. for 6 months I suffered a continual hot flash, rash and itching that did not go away. Memory problems that worsened, and it caused the autoimmune disorder (Hashimotos to worsen). I now suffer from the rash and itching from many things when applied to my skin anywhere on my body. With supplements my memory and swelling are improved. As Sal and Poodle say this will be with you in some degree for many yrs to life. Elaine
Re: Poodle (# 2653)
Hi Poodle. Yes I have had tests and I have a Mild Peripheral Neuropathy of axonal type. However none of these symptoms were present until I started Xarelto. I need to b on thinners because I have Protein C Deficiency and have suffered 2 bouts of leg thrombosis in the last 4 years....maybe longer. If I was starting over with my aging body I would note down every single ache, pains, injection and prescriptions After several years my Consultant Physician agreed to change it to Eliquis which has made no difference at all and has given me a sore throat since April this year which is not long after I started Eliquis. The side effects list this as a possibility. My GP Rx an antibiotic way back in May and suggested I gargle every 2 hours...I still have the sore throat. I am prone to bad side effects with most drugs. I can't take Lyrica and I'm having trouble with Micardis which was prescribed for my erratic BP. I am also on Isoptin 240 for BP.. Your input is very helpful and I like to read what you comment to others. Thank you
Re: sal (# 2646)
I do know that Amgen conducted the study of Prolia in France in this year. That seems to me to be the fox watching the chickens. How flawed could that study possibly be! On another site were some French ladies complaining about it and most probably for very good reason. Years ago osteoporosis was thought to be caused by wooden match sticks! We have come a long way but that doesn't necessarily mean biologic drugs are the best for ALL concerned. Be well~

Question here in almost October now. Did your nerve Doc do any testing on you like a Nerve Conduction Velocity and EMG? Often times the burning sensation can be from meds but at other times it happens to us because of our age and what we do or do not eat food wise. I had a horrible burning sensation all over whole body from using consecutively two different types of blood pressure meds at very low doses. Finally went to the ER and the Doc there dropped me into a third category of blood pressure meds on pediatric dose and the horrible burning stopped after a few weeks. Also had to stay in ER for hours for my BP to come back from 66/44. Finally let me go when the bottom got to 77 hours later. It had to make it's way out of my blood and liver and then I was free. I wanted it gone yesterday. It would seem that there are those of us that are much more sensitive to drugs than others. I would request the two nerve studies to make sure it is the med and not any other condition. They are basically painless. To your best~Pood
Re: Lizzie (# 2649)
It will get better I promise. I can’t believe how much better I feel. You might want to add bone broth. Been 9 month since last shot. 3 months on new regiment and yes every day is wonderful for me too I consider myself blessed after experience of so much pain. Not completely pain free but more better days now
Re: Sal (# 2650)
ps to the above post. The drug is called Evenity (Romosozumab)
BEWARE !!!
Re: sal (# 2646)
So now Amgen is submitting another Osteo drug to the FDA for approval.
This is the second submission for this drug. It seems the FDA refused to approve it in the past due to its record of dangerous cardiovascular side affects !!!! They won't give up !
I guess they haven't made enough money yet !
Re: Norma (# 2645)
I did not get my second shot... also doing the Algaecal and Strontium. It sounds weird but my digestive issues have noticeably abated in just a week...I know this is not mind over body... it is a true difference that I feel the minute I wake up in the morning. Still battling the hair problem and bone pain but am hopeful.
Re: Gloria (# 2647)
I too am improved to a point. I doubt I will ever recover from this highly toxic drug.
Re: Norma (# 2645)
Hi, Prolia was horrible for me. My last injection was May, 2015 and I am still suffering from most of the horrible side effects. Not sure I will ever be the same. I would not recommend Prolia to anyone. Horrible drug!
Re: Norma (# 2645)
There are a very few instances when Prolia is indicated such as bone cancer that is a metastasis, or a VERY high risk because of long term steroids, but they are few and far between in comparison to the number of people it has been prescribed. Unless one falls into the category for it original intent DO NOT TAKE IT !!!!! It is not safe !
Re: Lynne Herndon (# 17)
Don’t do any more injections. I was on it for 5 years. I had all the side effects. It will only get worse. I have not had Prolia in 8 months trying to get the poison out of my body taking Algae Cal and Strontium Pluse. Doing very well considering how much pain I was in
I lost all of my top teeth and had implants. Now I have a very loose bottom tooth. Very depressing. Never ever take Prolia if you want to keep your teeth...
Re: Andrea (# 2624)
I use SALUS STRUCTURE SILVER every day. It is better then antibiotics they can give you. No mouth sores anymore

And in answer to Lizzie, I was given an anti-viral which caused nausea so I had to stop. The specialist I saw also suggested it could be a herpes virus. Up until Prolia I had only experienced one cold sore. I will check out the info on dry mouth. At the moment I am using Mi Paste in tooth trays every night to help with my dry mouth. Unfortunately it's not helping my mouth sensitivity. Of course I'm still having to wear a flipper until I get my implant which probably won't be for at least another 6 months. A long process as I had a bone graft in February which also has to heal and "take"!
Re: Judy (# 2627)
Lizzie replied to you about using acyclovir.Keep in mind the dose she was given would be the original dose of 200mg 3X /day. This dose can be maxed to 800mg5X/day which is what I take for Ramsay Hunt syndrome (chicken pox virus reactivation)for 5 days. You will have to find a willing dentist or doctor to prescribe this which won't be easy.

There is such a thing as Glossodynia, otherwise known as burning mouth disease. There are steps you can take to manage it, but too many to mention here. You can find it in " Google University" as it is a bona fide medical condition.
