Options To Bad Dr's And Bad Laws
UpdatedI understand that 8 percocet a day is the maximum dosage. My problem is that it actually takes that much to keep my pain under control and allow me to live a functional life, yet any time I even hint to my Dr that 3 a day just isn't working well enough I get drug panels, accused of being an addict and so forth (my drug panels always come up clear as I don't abuse any drugs). My question is what are my options? Tried fentanyl, oxycontin, etc (all nightmares). Can't change Dr's as he has said he will put me in databases as an addict. Please help.

You can take one Percocet 10/325, as frequently as every four hours. But, if someone has chronic pain, most, if not all drs, are putting them on Extended Release meds like MS Contin which is Morphine.
Hi Jim,
I'd also encourage you to do some research on Kratom (particularly red vein strains) for their powerful pain relieving effects. While it's probably not as strong as the opiates you mentioned (i.e. fentanyl), during times when you can't take anymore Percocet (or prescribed pain killers), it may help bridge the gap until your next dose. Medical marijuana is another adjunctive therapy that chronic pain patients seem to be able to rely on. High CBD strains provide potent analgesic properties without the euphoria/couch-lock effects of THC and may be worth looking into as well.
At any rate, I know this is more in the natural realm of treatment, but there are a lot of reviews here on MedsChat that swear by Kratom and/or MMJ as a means of taking less pharmaceuticals.
Hope this helps!
Is the dr a Pain Management Dr ? If not, you need to find a pain management dr. Have you tried Zohydro ? It is time released Hydrocodone and it comes in several strengths. The only problem is because it is new, it is very expensive and some insurance companies won't pay for it. If your dr didn't start you out on a low dose of the other pain meds, that might explain why they were a nightmare.
