New Subutex Laws (Page 4)

Updated

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.

Methotrexate is not an opiate. It is a Rheumatoid Arthritis drug. I had a friend that had R/A and that was her doctors drug of choice for her.

That's awful. Suboxone for pain not going to work. That nalaxone blocks the drug from entering a certain part of the brain....this is going to hurt lot of pain patients. I would go to Methadone maintenance every morning 5 clock before I would suboxone again ,sorry before I would take suboxone. Because I am a chronic pain sufferer To each it's own see how many people are going to sufferer

Angelina, I am well aware of what methotrexate is. I have pustular psoriasis and that is what I am prescribed. I take subutex for my opiate addiction. I'm not sure what made you post that info about methotrexate because in my previous posts I clearly stated that I was on both medications one for addiction and one for psoriasis and wanted to know how they would interact together.

Then why are you curious 8f they would interact?

Because I had seen a few studies online showing that when taking suboxone which has naloxone in it and methotrexate together it could cause some side affects in some people. I was just trying to find out if anyone else took the two of them together and if they had any problems.

Co To Fl this is Shelley and my doctor refuses to put me back on the subutex. I called my Insurance company and they said that I do qualify for the subutex for 6 months after I had the baby. Its only been a month. Also they said any new laws stating anything about taking subutex if you are breastfeeding have beenthe same for years. Nothing has changes as far as that goes. They would be the first to know about any laws changing,.Also my doctor said he did a PA through my Insurance to and it wouldnt go through foir the subutex but it would on the suboxone. Well my Insurance company said they never did a PA for the subutex. So that was a lie. I called my doctor and told him about me talking to 2 different people and what they said about my qualifying for the subutex for 6 monthe after i have the baby and that they didn't even try to do a PA to see if it would go through my Insurance. They called my Insurance company and my doctor called me back and said that my Insurance said that they didn't know what they were talking about that I DO NOT qualify for the subutex now. So my doctor must have put a wrench in it. And so my doctor called me a lier and kicked me out. Gave me a 30 day supply of the suboxone. And I've called different pharmacies, different suboxone doctors and done research on the subutex and zubzolv manufacturer page and everything said DO NOT take naloxone while breastfeeding. I have to find a new doctor now that will prescribe the subutex and that will take my Insurance. And it's going to be really hard. I have had 1 doctor tell me she will prescribe it but she wants 425 a month. So I am so stuck and very confused and frustrated on this. I can't see why my doctor lies to me and switches me and tell's me It's because of the new law that just passed but other doctors will prescribe it. Doesn't make any sense..................Do you know how I could find a subutex doc that takes Amerigroup Tenncare?

Shelley, my only advice is for you to call your insurance carrier and ask them for a list of opiate addiction doctors in your area that take your insurance. You could also search online for addiction specialists in your area and then call them and ask if they take your insurance. Like I said in my previous post, where I live there are hundreds of doctors but only one that I know of that takes insurance. Most places are cash only, but will submit a prior authorization to your insurance for your prescription. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Shelley, you also need to do some.research yourself and find out if Tennis Medicaid has limits on what they will pay for. You also need to find out if Amerigroup has restrictions. Most state Medicaid programs have set limits regarding the length of time as well as life time limits.

The FDA did recently change the warnings regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding. You should be able to get the info by going to the FDA website.

That's how I feel! It's not so easy getting those documentations as everyone thinks it is! Im having miserable severe SIDE EFFECTS, in other words not an exact allergy. So I've had to miss school over running a fever, cramps, chills, can't hardly swallow and extreme fatigue. If anyone can reply with help, it would be very much appreciated!

The naloxone own thing is a myth. The company that makes it is from my home state. Since buprenorphine is a agonist antagonist by itself they had to admit the buprenorphine itself binds more than the naloxone. it's just a scam for them to make money and doesn't make people dependent on agonist/antagonist. You will have more withdrawal symptoms now if u are first switching from a pure agonist or have an impaired hepatic system. The naloxone will make u more sick cause the buprenorphine packet that comes with suboxones says your liver doubles the amount of naloxone. So basically if u already on a mixed agonist/antagonist u could take either one for the same result unless u are super sensitive. What's gonna happen to me, I'm very sensitive to naloxone and have hepatitis c so I can't take suboxone. I've finally been two years off pain medicine. Since my neurologist retired I was on 140mgs methadone and for break through pain oxycodone 30 mg immediate release three times a day; so 90 pills and 90 hydrocodones 10 mg 325 Tylenol that I didn't take cause of liver. So now that I have a daughter to take care of they want me back on medication that kept me in a coma, no way! Buprenorphine 8mgs twice a day kills my pain just as well. .25 mg of buprenorphine is the equal of 10 mgs of morphine. This is crap and for people that belive the naloxone bull are going to mess it up for pain patients. Yes I'm opiate dependent but not an addict cause I wasn't abusing what my doctor had me on but my Benzodiazepines doctor who I see for anxiety attention deficit hyper activity disorder and anxiety and panic attacks and insomnia luckily was also a opioid dependent doctor who I told to begin with I could not take naloxone, so I'm screwed. That was an answer then I had my own question, damn.

Im from TN I know of plenty of sub doctors .. it's just the problem of getting prescribed subutec. I don't know if you've seen my post , but I also have hep c. My doctor wants a hepatic test of my enzymes before he's legally allowed to prescribe them. They helped my pain as well! It's just this new law even he said he hates it.

It's a disease like any other; in fact, one of the worst aspects of the disease is that there are still uneducated, judgmental, self-righteous people like you which causes an unfortunate stigma attached. Suboxone has many harsh side effects for some patients that Subutex does not. Opiate addiction is serious; no one wants it. Maybe you should not speak of things you know nothing about and stop condemning people for seeking help for a serious disease. Would it be better for that person, or our society in general to continue to obtain it illegally? I too used Subutex to treat an opiate addiction and it saved my life. I graduated college and now have a great career. If you care enough to be on this tread perhaps you would consider educating yourself a little before you speak on it, but I can tell you're not the type of person to do that.

Dude that has nothing to do with it. The man is trying to better himself so he can focus on his goals in life. If not for buprenorphine he would lie, cheat, and steal. Instead he chose to get clean wing off and go on in his educated life so f*** you for throwing hate.

If u were u referring to my post I wasn't saying anything about suboxone an naloxone not affteting ppl, as I plainly said I hate the s***. one antagonist is enough for me. yes buprenorphine is half agonist but still has the antagonist part. buprenorphine is the only thing I want in my pill, not naloxone. the myth thing I was referring to was saying it's a scam. suboxone used to say less abusive. I have seen many ppl abuse there strips that were either opiate naive or buprenorphine being the drug that they have become addicted to and that suboxone on there own patient leaflet had to admit that the naloxone itself is no less abuse prone. you are the self righteous one. maybe u should have said hey your post wasn't clear, I didn't get what u meant; not tell me how hard it is to be a opiate addict. you got no clue what I've been threw. if anyone especially you didn't no what i meant as I will say again, maybe u should have pointed out I wasn't clear, cause number 1, I don't want any of that garbage suboxone unless was last resort. so educate your damn self. I am the most chill person before u wrote your dumb post I would of corrected so inform myself seems like u the one needs to inform themselves, as u said educate yourself. I no there is a huge difference n subutex an suboxone. it's called naloxone which my body can not tolerate. u obviously read a lil of what I wrote and ran with it. I didn't think was any ones bizz but u have now pissed me off so much I don't care. I was taking it since I was a teen. I just got hurt an was lucky enough really getting hurt saved my life and got me away from the clinic scene and into the pain management scene. Much better and got my pain and withdrawal taken care of at a months time with each medicine instead of going to score or go get up at ass crack of dawn to get dosed. u really misread what I wrote, started talking nonsense cause u misunderstood what I wrote and I said my first sentence didn't come out right. I can't talk to someone like u who needs to educate yourself before u post on a thread. In no way do I endorse a medicine I myself hate and don't want to take, so u probably should of realized maybe something got left out of my post if that's what u got out of it smh.
