I've been on heavy opiates since 2001. I am at the lowest I've ever been(150mcg/h) the patches say they will last 72hours. I have to change mine every 48. Is this common? Also today is the first time I'm using expired patches. Is this safe? ## Hello, Agro! How are you doing? They may be less effective, but as long as they aren't dried out, cracking/tearing and leaking, they shouldn't be dangerous. Did you run out of your regular prescription? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yea I ran out...and was having insurance problems. They were so weak! I got my reg patches back tho. Thnx for the tip. Another question....they switched the b...

After one fentanyl 50 (much less than 18hrs on skin till he ripped it off) my boyfriend is so sick. He does not want to get out of bed because every move makes him more nauseous. He has thrown up all day. Doesn't know how as he hasn't even held down a sip of water or even ginger ale. I tried to get him to eat a piece of toast and the smell of it made him throw up. He hates pain meds as they usually make him feel horrible. He had back surgery in 08, has had inj's in lower back 3 times in past year. His PC dr has given him Lyrica this week before this fentanyl. He stopped it as he just wanted to sleep. He is scheduled for an MRI on Friday. How long will he be this sick? ## I am so sorry about the side effects he experienced. I had the same problem when I tried Fentanyl years a...

How can I get the Fentanyl patch 75 mcg the f*** out of my system? I have approx. 70-80 hours to get this s*** out of my body. Was prescribed it for pinched nerve in lower back area. Been taking it for about a month. Now I have a pre-employment drug screen this Fri. Today is Tues. Last used this morning. (Tues.) What do you think? Many thanks! ## Dazed and Confused--as long as you have a valid prescription for the fentanyl you should be ok. They'll probably ask you to list your meds down before the test. Put down that you have been using the drug. That way when you test positive they'll know why. I don't see a problem--???? ## It only stays in your system for about 18 hours ## I would bring your script with you and be honest. Even if you went cold turkey which I don’t ...

Hello. I am on the fentanyl patch, 125mcg every 72 hours. And ever since starting the patch I have been able to once again be more active. I exercise for an hour every morning and walk in the evening. My dr said the patch will last me 72 hours but by 48 and sometimes less, my pain begins to return and I start feeling withdrawl symptoms I use to feel on oxy or percs. I've tried telling my dr that I need to change every 2 days but he insists that this does not happen to anyone else. Does anyone here have the same issues? And are you feeling better results from different brands of the patch? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Your morning exercising may be causing the problem. There are actually warnings with the Fentanyl patch that tell you that anything you get hot, sweaty or overheated...

There seams to be an unbelievable amount of misinformation going about Drug take about 12 hours to get into your system.a 25 patch is a relative low dose. If you are having all sorts if problems without it, for god sake call your dr. Patches usually have about 4 days worth drugs . If you are running out leave patch on for 4 days, and then you have 12 hours in you body that hasn't gotten to your blood system I have on a 100 patch and get a percocet every 4 hours: muscle relaxer and another pain medication every 8 hours, ## If you are having withdrawal symptoms after taking off a 12.5 patch, see a mental health specialist. Everyone here, please go to the web and search on the drugs you are taking, come back here and help people ## Hi Ron, Thanks for sharing your input on the Fentanyl ...

patch narcotic ## Hello, According to the DEA Fetanly is a synthetic opioid. These drugs are used as a pain reliever. This drug is a schedule II narcotic. They report that these drugs are extremely potent and often only require a small amount to result in severe adverse reactions. In addition these drugs can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin which makes them a danger to not only to the user but also those in the general area who come in contact with the drug. Here is some additional info from the DEA on this drug. [1]DEA Fentanyl I hope this information helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

I am on disability for chronic back pain and degenerative disk disease, in the past I have been on 80 mil oxicontin for about eight years, but have not been on any medications in the past year. I am now at the point of needing pain meds again. ## Hello, Stan! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, asking them to refer you to someone would most likely be the quickest and easiest way to get the help you need. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## There are no new regu...

My doctor has had me on the 100 fentanyl patch for 1 year now. He is going to take me off it. Can you just stop taking it with out side effects or withdrawals. Please tell me the proper way to get off this patch. Please help me, I have the doctor appointment tomorrow and want to know what to say. So far it sounds like his plan is just to take me off cold turkey. I am scared of withdrawals. I am a mom of 5 kids and need to be ok. Please help. ## No, it is not safe to go cold turkey. I have had a doctor tell me that no one has ever died from withdrawal. Fentanyl withdrawal can slow or even stop your breathing. I have been on a 350 mcg dose of fentanyl patcheds every 48 hours for 10+ years. I was in a serious car accident w/ligament & tendon injury, then they thought chronic pain/arthr...

I have to take blood test in 2 weeks. I have to know how long it takes for my Fentanyl 100 mg Patch to get out of my blood stream? I have to take my last one off in 3 days. Is it enough time for it to leave my body and blood system? ## If you have a prescription for the patches, then there is no need to worry, you just need to inform them of this, when you go in for testing. There are only certain exceptions, where someone can be denied the use of these types of medications. However, for a blood test, Fentanyl is usually only detectable for approximately 2 days, after last usage. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Rusty asked how long does fentanyl take to get out of the bloodstream. He/she did not asked if you approved whether or not there was a legit script. I hate you people ...

I have been on the 100 mg patch and Percocet for my Crohns and Colitis for years. Last week I went cold turkey on my own recognizance. I had my 2nd colostomy surgery which elevated my pain mostly, hence quitting. I am having insomnia and terrible joint pain but never had I been more clairvoyant in years. I take Advil for my back and work out 4 days a week which helps sweat the toxins out. Exercise releases natural endorphins which are like a synthetic morphine so my specialist says. Its up to each individual to face their own truth. When you're ready to quit, you know. I wouldn't advise you to do what I did but that's always been my personality. I quit smoking this way as well. Its not for everyone. Good luck all. After the storm comes the sunshine, TRUST ME! ## HI Iceman, T...

I have been treated with Fentanyl Transdermal System. I have gotten in what they call a donut hole and the price is a lot more than any person on Disability could ever afford. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks ## If you find a way to get the patch at a price someone on disability can afford let me know please buy insurance get up my cost from $2.50 to $40.00 and for that increase I would have to go without food or heat which do I choose. ## I'm also in the "donut hole"and I have to say no meds should cost $400 on disablity it's almost impossible, but my pain is so bad I just can't do without. I've had this pain for 17 yrs and I still keep going ## If you have medicare medco has a plan that has generic coverage thru the donut hole. I get my patched for $6 a mont...

## I HAVE TAKEN FENTANYL TRANS PATCHES FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW, DUE TO ENDOMETRIOSIS. BEWARE WHEN YOU GO INTO HOSPITAL, YOUR BODY COULD BUILD UP A RESISTANCE TO MORPHINE. MINE DID AND ON THREE OCCASIONS. DOCTORS DIDNT LISTEN WHEN I TOLD THEM MORPHINE DIDNT WORK, LEFT IN AGONY ON ALL OCCASIONS. ONE TIME IT WAS FOR MAJOR SURGERY. I FEEL ALL SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS. HAS IT HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ## my daughter was given 75mg patches and dismissed from the hospital at noon one day and died at l0:30 the next morning due to overdose. She was a cystic fibrosis patient that had breathing problems and weighed at her best 89 pounds. I'll be honest, I'm a true drug addict. Not proud of it, but I am. For about 3 years now, I've been taking 40 & 80mg OP's, and 30mg Oxycodone religiously. I have a very high tolerance to EVERYTHING. From what I've been reading it takes as low as 6 hours to 24 hours to feel the effects. Yesterday I took a 75mcg/hr non-gel patch around 1:30 pm, placing it on my left back shoulder blade, and knowing it would take a duration to come on, I took plenty other opiates and benzos, hoping I'd wake up feeling like gold from the patch. Well it's 10 am the next morning, nearly 24 hours since taking the patch, and I am not withdrawing, nor do I feel pain, but I still have that bubbly feeling in my stomach that often occurs when one has a bowel movement due to withdrawl...

I was on liquid Methadone for chronic pain for years and while on waiting list to switch to a new Pain center, I was weaning off methadone rapidly at 2mgs a day from 120 to 38mg. I was also on 20 to 40 mgs a day oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Now, last month, my new doc put me on 25mcg/h patch. Yesterday, he informed me that I am now ONLY getting pain management from him (understandable) and cut me off and did not prescribe any more oxycodone and I was to stop at 38mgs methadone. Bottom line, will a 50mcg/h patch I started today be enough for my pain and withdrawals? I am scared. ## Did you discuss your concerns with him? The Fentanyl is a very strong narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine actually, but while it can handle pain very well, you may still experience some breakthr...

Does anyone know what brand of the fentanyl patch 100mcg that Wal-Mart carries now? I know that they had only carried the one brand that was recalled with the gel, which was because people were overdosing on it causing death. After reading up on this there were people who were misusing, abusing the patches, digesting the gel or smoking it, which made it bad for those who depended on this certain patch for their pain relief, I used to use the patch for my excruciating constant pain and it was great only Medicare would no longer pay for it switching me to the generic fentanyl patch which only works half as good as the recalled patches. People in the US seem to abuse prescription meds a lot and those who depend on the meds have to suffer when they're then recalled. If anyone knows what...

I am in need of some answers. Any legal help from someone experienced in 'law' would be lovely here. My Fiancee and I have wanted to distribute harm reduction kits to opiate users for a long time. By harm reduction kits, I mean clean needles for injection, cotton filters, clean tins/cookers to mix their opiate in, gloves, band-aids, bandages, tape and anything a drug user may need to stay safe and stay free of disease, minus the drug they are using. Now, we would be asking for absolutely no assistance for this from the country, state, county or city whatsoever, it would be funded out of our own pockets and by donations from the general public and from sales from my arts and crafts I make. So that's not something we need to worry about. So far, we have the funding to put toge...

I can't seem to find a straight answer. I'm stopping the 12 mcg fentanyl patch (with Drs instructions). I have 7.5mg Percocet for withdrawal for a few days but everyone is leaving me believe my withdrawal won't be too bad. I called the pharmacist. She said withdrawal will last 48 hours. That seems too good to be true. So, anyone know?! ## It really depends on the person and how long they've been on it, so you may not experience any withdrawal symptoms, or you may experience them for a few weeks, there's no way to be certain. I believe the pharmacist may have been referring to how long it takes to exit your body, which is approximately 48 hours after last use. The FDA warns that possible withdrawal effects could include nausea, vomiting, chills, rebound pain and diarr...
