The doctor doesn't want to give him methadone or pain medicine. He doesn't like to prescribe pain medicine I guess.

Crockett, what reason did the Dr give? Dud your husband break his pain contract? Has the Dr mentioned not wanting to rx the dosage he is on? Has the Dr told him to lose weight or go to physical therapy, etc and he hasn't. ?

My husband is prescribed methadone and the doctor is taking him off and won't. Give him another pain medicine to take he had a bad motorcycle accident and his right leg was push up into his pelvic and crushed the doctors put 18pins and screws to hold his leg to his hip there is nothing else they can do for him but take something for chronic pain but the doctor doesn't seem to care I need to find a doctor that will give him some pain medicine so he can have a better quality of life.

BL-Ok gotcha but you & others kept insisting I take complete records including my meds receipt history (which for me is a letter size printout I receive with meds each month) so easy since patient assistance fed ex with the meds. I keep each sheet I get along with all my other records in file. Seems I have too many records (drs. never really read while I there) or not enough for verification of legitimacy against DEA. Feel my situation is complete opposite of what drs, being told/ordered to do therefore I am not a new patient they want to see. Not really their fault-it should all be put upon gov. whom has no business playing dr. when they know nothing about it. I honestly am totally willing to lower dose & have already but my system & pain simply reaches point whereby body will not function no matter other modes to help pain. For instance broken bones shifting simply hurt & no way to help except stopping pain signals somehow.
Thanks for input-am just trying to maintain my psyche along with increased pain levels-that worries me after so many yrs dealing with pain makes it difficult to keep it up.

Chris, If you are taking in a printout with you prescription history stop doing that. The drs can see your history by looking you up in the states PMP database. You are not going to find a Dr that will give you the high doses you've been taking period. It won't happen. You are either going to have to manage with a lot less pain meds or nor have any at all. It is your decision. If you are able to.get in to see any new drs do not mention dosage or the name of the Med.

BL- Bingo! You just said what I feel is real prob with my situation-my rx history shows been on 345mg/day OpanaER for last 3 years(since new laws in effect) then before that even more massive doses of Oxycontin which was on since 2000. That why I feel defeated before even talking to them because I am an unusual case & have been since 2000 so they not want involved. Oxycontin taken since patient assistance dropped me after all those years when new regulations pegged my pain dr. high dosage dr. so they sent letter saying if I found new dr. they would reinstate me. Never said that in letter just told me if I got new dr. then they take me back-but after 12yrs with same dr. then all of a sudden they not accept his scripts when these new laws went into force there is no other conclusion. Walgreens & CVS already had blacklisted him also saying he not "god faith dr. list" (whatever the H.. that means). He one in million here in FL not afraid losing license because he never has done wrong. Just actually writes for pain meds which is what it should be. But am fairly certain my rx history is where my problem lies & I cannot change that. I have all dr notes from each visit which contain all info-plus all imaging, etc.-my records are thorough. Including about 7 dx's from spodylosis, scoliosis, osteoporosis, chronic fractures, knee fusion, etc. I fear I have dead end situation since new laws completely leave me out in cold - unless I find another "fearless" dr. then I am doomed. Perhaps one in 100,000 chance of that esp. here in 'pill-mill' FL.

sig, you will need a copy OG your medical records from the Dr that has been treating your pain. You may or may not be able to find a pain management Dr. Most drs won't prescribe SOMA with pain meds because it can be addicting and many patients have died from the combinations according to studies
It doesn't matter if you've taken it all these years without any problems. A new Dr may not give you a rx or a rx for what you've been taking on the first visit. So you need to make an appointment with a pain Dr ASAP.

I am looking for a new Dr. My Dr. of 15 years sent me a letter stating she won't be treating me any longer as I have long term needs. WTH? is 15 years ? short term? I am in Sacramento and I have been on pain meds specifically Norcos, or codeine , or vicdin and Soma for nearly 30 years. I need a Dr. who is not afraid or intimidated by the DEA. Preferably a DR who got their license here in the US and has dealt with Narcotics and patients with real pain. I will be out of my Meds in about 2 weeks. Please help. I am scared and I know what happens to my body just a few hours after a missed dose. ER type of medical issues.

Chris, new patient forms that you fill out the first time you see a Dr has a place for medical history like diseases, surgeries. etc. If you go a copy of your medical records from the last Dr that treated you for your pain, that is all you need. But you shouldn't remove anything from those records because drs can tell and it is a red flag. There is no need for a printout of your previous rxs because that is included in your medical records from your previous Dr along with your drug panels, notes from each visit, etc. And the Dr can look up your prescription drug history in your states Prescription Monitoring Program database. Perhaps that is where the problem is. If I remember correctly, the meds you were previously on exceeded the 120 mg Morphine or Morphine Equivalents daily guidelines. That may be the problem. Any Dr knows your pain will be difficult to manage until you've been off pain meds for a while. And since you give them a printout of your Opana ER rxs that is like you're expecting them to rx you high dose pain meds.

CO to FL, Here's some more info on Kratom. Dont expect complete relief, Kratoms effects are very subtle. not the relief you would get from an Rx. But very effective. I bought a little gadget that I can fill capsules with, its really easy. I take 2 caps, then about 30 minutes later take 2 more. at this dose when I stand up to walk my knees are 80-90% pain free. This makes walking much easier as you can imagine. I order from Kratom Infusion and use the Bumblebee Vietnam for pain and Malay for energy and pain. With the Malay I can stand and actually clean house which is usually impossible. I ordered their sample pak and was able to try different strains and find which works best for me. I kept a record of how much I took and what the effects were. I dont take it every day as they say effects will diminish. Sometimes I just use a different strain. Also eat when you take it. With its antiinflammatory effects it can upset your stomach. I tried several different companies and this one is my favorite so far. Hope this helps. Karen
