Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 65)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Btw thanks kitten. Not sure who you are referring to, but I appreciate you showing you believe me. People who are quick to judge never look at themselves with the same scrutiny. And if they did they would realize they have a log in their own eye when they are trying to scrutinize the little piece of wood in someone else's eye.

being a cancer patient myself and having years of experience with opiate meds, i can say the best thing to do is get the hell of them!!! I was on them for years until my dr retired and i found myself SCREWED! no dr wanted to help me even with my records, script history and diagnosis. I had stomach cancer about 4 years ago which was the most painful thing i ever experienced. Before that in 2007 i fell off a 2 story building directly on my back. i dont know how the hell i didnt die but i didnt. I broke my back, my pelvis and my hip along with a ton of other things. That pain didnt even come close to the cancer crap. I was on OC er 80mg 2 times a day and oxy IR 30mg 4-5 times a day. i knew tho after a while i was dependent on the meds and didnt quite need them as much as i thought. Do i think some of u have serious pain? absoultely!! do i think some of u are straight up dopers who are blowing the pain thing up just to get pills? Absolutely!! I mean what the heck are u people gonna do 5, 10 maybe 15 years from now when ur dr might retire or leaves practice or maybe the DEA does some dumb crap and stops making opiates available completely?? have any of u ever went thru withdraw?? That was enough for me to say f**k this!!! besides the fact i was screwed anyway and my Dr retired i didnt really need the meds like i thought anyway. I was clearly addicted and dependent BADDD like most of u are. i read alot of pages on here and some of the stuff i read like "some dr wanted to prescribe me cannabis thats crazy and so bad for u" lololol....ye cannabis is so bad for u meanwhile ur eating 6 30s a day like seriously?? Cannabis is prob the safest "drug" out there especially for pain and especially for cancer pain. And also some of u are really worried about ur liver with the percocets?? lolol man oh man i really feel bad for some of u. Get off this crap while u can trust me. there is prob a handful of ppl here that have ever experienced the pain that i have!! get off this crap!!!

Joey, how did you stop taking the meds? How long did you go through withdrawal? I often think about how less stressful my life would be not worrying about refills and doctors appointments. I feel like I would rather be in pain than worry :/

Thanks Joey but I'll pass. I dealt with the pain for years before I started taking pain meds, and until there is a great amount of healing completed I'm not going to throw myself back into being absolutely miserable all day every day. Trust me, if I can get rid of the pain I will stop taking them. And if my doctor retires then my doctor retires. And yes, I've experienced withdrawals. And btw, if someone can't push through them there is suboxone to help them through the withdrawals. I appreciate you trying to look out though. Oh, and you don't "blow up the pain to get pills" when you doctor won't even see you without proof of the pain. I.e. 7 different back problems on an mri and x Ray. And I don't think it's right to just jump on here and accuse people of being "straight dopers" when you don't know them from Adam.

Hi joey I have cancer of the brain I'm not on anything that kills my liver. I own a Growery ma and pop shop that sales mmj and I agree pot is a better choice in some cases. But now the Dea just made doctors give patients a choice cannabis or pain pills. And yes I have been thru oxycotin withdraws and it is far worse than being in pain.

Joey you have no right to come on here and accuse those of us who suffer with great pain daily and opt to take pain meds to make our lives functional "addicts" Each and every one of us has our own pain issues and we deal with them the best we can, should that include the use of pain medicine to help make life more manageable, then that's our choice. Each person deals with pain differently and has a different tolerance level, you cannot come in this forum and tell everyone we should do as you have and get off of all the meds and we are just fooling ourselves in to thinking we need them. I for one have been off of my pain meds and I prefer to be able to get out of bed and move and live what is an acceptable life for me, this was not possible without my medicine. Congrats to you for being able to forgo any/all meds and function in life, but that's you and not me and you have no right to judge me for what I have to do to make my life functional.

Hi Mike I'm a young veteran and have a Dr that is adverse to changing my prescription but have been on the same medication s for 3 years which are not effective. I have asked for a lower quantity but a higher pain medication which was met a resounding NO. Can you recommend a good Dr that will help? I live in the aurora area so if it's in the Denver area I would sincerely as appreciate the name and number. Thank you

HeY Chris. All I can recommend because it's the only place I've been that doesn't judge but finds seekers and discharges them. Colorado pain relief in wheat ridge. Look it up, and give them a call. I hope they can help you. Just fyi, you won't even be seen without your medical records.

Joey how do you rate the pain you were in on a scale from 1 - 10? And Sally, Mark, John and so on. Every persons pain tolerance is different, so to say that very few people on here have experienced the pain that you have is very egotistical. Obviously if we are in pain and taking opiates for the pain we are addicted, your body gets addicted. But we are not taking the medication for recreational use, we are taking it for pain. So please quit judging us for using whatever drug brings us relief. You are still using a drug to self medicate, in Co it may be legal at the moment, but Federally it is not legal and what if they decide to take it away, are you going to continue using it and break the law? So please step down off your high horse and quit being so judgemental and condescending!

Joey, Is your concern about people being addicted to narcotics, or to ANYTHING? Are you talking of physical addiction, psychological addition, or both? There are many meds out there that cause physical addiction but no one calls it that because it is not a narcotic. Take prednisone, for example. It causes physical dependency and once on it at a moderate to high dose (which many with chronic pain are prescribed, depending on there dx), and on it for more than a couple of weeks, are addicted. They can in no way stop taking it "cold turkey", but have to be weaned off. Is that addiction? You bet it is. Then why is no one up in arms over it? I'll tell you why: prednisone is not a narcotic. It has not had the bad press that morphine has, but can do awful things to your body. If you don't want to be dependent on narcotics, that's your call but don't think you are better than us because we choose differently in order to have a life. Who knows? You may be addicted to something and not know it!

MaC, I was replying to a post by a person named Janet who said that you must not be telling the whole story, and in the same breath said she didn't judge. It was an old post.

Hi, what dr do you see? I have a Medtronic pain pump and take 60 mg of morphine every 4 hours and I'm still in the process of raising the pump rate to get it to the right level. I'm moving to Colorado Springs and am desperate for a good pain dr who takes united health care/tricare, who works with Medtronic pumps and accepting new patients. It's been hell trying to find someone!

And oxy codons 30 for breakthrough have made my pain so much better, however I'm concerned cause recently, within a few months, my pain is not being handled
By the meds anymore? I go to what I think is a great pain clinic, but am Leary
About them increasing. If he treats me respectfully I will definitely let you
