Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 257)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Terry,
Re Post #5121: Your doctor should work on a taper plan for you, just in case you cannot find a doctor to take you. Having to withdraw from your meds will be extremely uncomfortable and even dangerous, if you have underlying conditions. I hope you find a doctor to help you before you run out, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Good luck!!

It's gonna get worse. Medicaid wants us under two mg of meds monthly. If you have cancer you're exempt.

Wendy, I'm confused about the info you posted. You said only 2 mg of meds monthly? What do you mean?

Well here goes, I had a serious flare this month. My son paid for me to have chiropractic adjustment. I pay 175.00 month to go to PM, yet on about day 26, I'm running out. I been on this dose for long time, I've asked doc to damn help me. I am really considering a difference doc, really. Today is 24 hours no meds, the w drwl, anxiety and pain is too much. I'm angry , I can't live the rest of my life like this a day or 2out of meds.

I went to PT, as Lucy and Rainbow I mentioned earlier this month, it flared me. Chiropractic care seems best for me always has since 2006, hit by a car then, now I have knee problems tore meniscus, this is a new Dx, for the Pm I've been seeing since 2012.
Scared to go to ER, I wouldn't take a scrip home but would try to get some relief. Can't eat. Scared to also leave this he gives my anti anxiety, meds, well I will be diligently on hunt for shrink who takes my Medicare.

Moose,
Go through your insurance!
What made you choose to move to Denver?
Family, job, scenery?

Terry,

Get all your files, recent MRI and call Colorado Pain Relief in Wheat Ridge. They understand and can / will help. Do not have anything other than your meds in your stomach. They test every month and often do pill counts and random U/A's. They will weed out any seekers!

Chaos, sorry to hear you are hurting! For knees, I actually gave in and bought blue emu oil! It works very well! I am in same situation you are in. I hate that my life involves, today I really hurt , should I take one more knowing that means a short day sometime later. I may ask for a slight bump up or for a long lasting med which I have never done this week. Will let you know, also was planning on trying kratam will keep you posted.
Can you afford the hot springs?

Jane Doe, yes my b/f who lives in springs, was considering that however, I do smoke half of a spliff at night so Idk what other pm will let me do that. I'm reporting on my visit with Lincoln. I brought my poor sex deprived b/f with me today, I let him tell Lincoln how I have been cussing him out - yes being a straight A hole to him. He advocated for me as he's never seen me in this condition. I told DR. I've been out of meds 2-3 days. He said next time call him before I run out. He won't charge me extra if I had to come in. Yes I felt relieved. So he offered the patch Fentanyl, been there didn't stay on, just didn't work. We decided on going from 60 Ms Contin every 8 hrs to oxy ER 40 every 12 hours. I also got to the bottom of the ? @ how many mgs the state is going to allow, right now it is 300 mg. So I said doc what's up with the 120 morphine equivalent? Idk Medicaids laws as I am on Medicare Humana, which I'm very unhappy with, they denied to pay for u/a. So I leave Dr office to go to my independent pharmacy, they're closing down. Grrr, so I ended up at Costco and a denial in payment for oxy ER....what I also found out is they do not have name brand oxy, not even opana, but I guess the o.g. formula, so I guess it must not have the abuse deterrent. Well I'm waiting on prior authorization. Which Lincoln's staff is very prompt. I still have to wait to pick it up. I was able to get my IR and klonopin.
However, yes I am doing myself almost a disservice, because in a few yrs, yes it is going to go down to the 120 mmg/equivalent.

I'm so thankful to have made it thru last few days of hell. Very happy with outcome of my Dr. Visit., I'm exhausted, I hope I was able to clarify for Rainbow Flowers about the mg max. I was mentioning my b/f and just that because of pain and opiates I have no libido. He is just a really good guy, but had just not seen me such a mess. I'm a peaceful God Loving, person. Also the mg equivalent is for non cancer patients. Thank you all Lucy, Jane Doe, rainbow, you are my friends my only friends, really. Thanks for all replies and help. For your knee Jane Doe, I will try anything that helps. Including chiro care I pay for The joint is very good. I recommend, if I can help anyone I will. I hope you all are having a semi pain free day. Feeling 70% today in Aurora-Chaos.

well thank you very much. My (family) doc is pretty emphatic. I'm pretty sure he will give me till the end of the summer to find a PMC that will help. I am concerned that if I go to Doctor A, and don't like his suggestions/actions, that I will have to go to Doctor B, and well, you get the idea. Certainly that's not "Doctor Shopping", because I'm not trying to get MORE THAN ONE SCRIPT, but the optics are not good. Let's just hope that Doctor A, understands my condition, reads all my support docs and comes to the same conclusion where I'm at with this.

Chaos I am able to provide you with information on mental health services for Medicare/Medicaid patients. It is called community reach they have locations around front range. It takes quite a while to get started unless you walk into the crisis center
Also Colorado crisis services offers 24 hours walk in services for mental health this will fast track you so you won't have to wait for months to talk to doctor. There are therapist and then there are doctors so I believe protocol is therapist first then doctor. Hope this helps
844-493-TALK for Colorado crisis services they could direct you to others ,#s if you don't want to google. Sorry I haven't posted in months and my browser forgot my stored log ins so my name's a little different on here now
