Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 256)
UpdatedI have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
Lucy thank you for your concern, I really should ask for the 10 with no Tylenol.
you are absolutely correct
I haven't heard of them. I am lucky in that my primary doc handles pain management.....as long as the rules are followed. She said they have been shedding most pain patients....but she said that she has never had any issue with me, so I am good to stay there.
Jetmech, u are so lucky! Even if we follow the rules, they are below limits of fed. Dr's or practice managers are saying tough luck. Why those of us that haven't abused, played by the rules are getting shut out, I don't understand. It's amazing how many docs say no to legal pain meds but say u can smoke etc even though that is illegal, no quality control etc. They have no plan to wean us off or even care. I would love to find a good primary care doc even if I have to go concierge.
No I haven't. Was given the info but haven't had a chance to call and see what they do.
Jo,
If you are not living in one of the 6 states that kratom is illegal, you can order it online. My favorite by a longshot is happy hippo herbals.
Jo, this forum is for Colorado only, I believe you said you are from NC which I think is North Carolina. Dr. Shawn is also here in Colorado. Look up the North Carolina medschat thread, that will be more helpful to you. Good luck.
Rainbow,
No I haven't. The only pain clinic that I have ever gone to is Colorado Pain Relief. I have been there since it opened with Dr May.
CHAOS...
I highly recommend the switch to 10mg oxys ASAP from percs. Several pain doctors over the years have made the correlation to its effect on the liver and/or kidneys. Keep us posted. One of the main services of this chat room is to be a (virtual) shoulder to "cry" on. And to prove wiser from those who have been down this long and winding road.
Where are all the RECENT posts? Everything here is like 5 years old!
Terry, you have to set the parameters to show recent posts first. Basically you are seeing when it first started. Or you can forward to page 1000, your choice
I always feel like a seeker when bringing up all the APAP in drugs like percoset and talk about preferring single-ingredient oxycodone. I was even on 5/10 mg single-ingredient oxy after my surgery and the PM doc put me back on percoset with the tylenol. I always feel like they think that I'm going to abuse my medication if it doesn't have tylenol in it. Does anyone else ever feel that way?
Lucy,
Loved your recent post it provided information , purpose and direction . Not to mention HUMAN COMPASSION AND EMPATHY. Something so lacking in this world today. You are truly a valued poster WE ALL should aspire to reply and respond to others frightend and in need of assistance and as you so ably demonstrated a "shoulder". I personally applaud your efforts.
Warmest Regards,
Kenie.
If you can avoid anything with Tylenol in it do so. I was a Medical Assistant before I became disabled. I cannot tell you how many people I saw who had damaged their livers being on Tylenol. I avoid anything with "cet" at the ending, ie: perco"cet"
Last Exit, that's the only reason I haven't asked doc to change I t he may say no. Both my meds have an abuse deterrent. I know u r not supposed to be on them with Tylenol in them , but Lucy did remind me.
Yes Lucy is very nice , knowledgeable,
Rainbow do you remember Tammy? She was helpful, I wonder how she's doing!!??
I get Kratom at Parker Pipe and Tobacco. They buy in huge quantity straight from Asia. They have red vein from Bali, Indonesia and Thai, as well as green and white vein. I pay $5 an ounce. I buy 1 pound.....and mix the powder in with a bottle of orange or cran Raspberry juice. It works fairly well...and keeps the pain knocked down.
Chaos I remember Tammy but she hasn't been on here 4 awhile nt sure wats up wit her
I need a primary care dr not a pain dr do you know if any one I just moved here and I had gastric bypass and I need to see a dr monthly for vitamin b12 shots and I need stomach Meds but need someone that cares about you as a patient I have eaten problems and I don't k ow anyone here I'm Lynn and I live here in Denver but will go where I need to long as I get help.
Hey >>> I just joined this forum looking for doc myself. have been taking heavy oxycontin AND oxycodone for 6 years now, and my Prime Care Doc is scooting me down the road. Never been so scared in my life.
My daughter is a big wig in the HC field, and she says the same thing ('ve seen here. It's a catch 22, because if you go in and ask specifically for what you've been taking for 6 years, they (Pain Dr.) will label you as a "seeker'. Have enough till May..... Oh boy, here we go.....
Mac686, I'm SO glad you were able to find a doctor to help you! I have been in chronic pain about my entire life and have had to result to methadone on and off the last 16 years. The time off I was searching for cures and natural ways to subdue the pain because I hate putting poison into my body, but I am not able to function day to day without some sort of strong pain relief. If I have to go without, I'd have to give my kids up for adoption because I wouldn't be able to take care of them due to being in bed all day. I have the same issue as you, even when I'm not even going to ask for pain meds, I'm just looking for treatment, as in blood tests, scans, laparoscopies, etc., I get treated like a junkie on the street due to being on methadone. Every time I've had to move, it takes me at least 2 years to find a doctor that will treat me like a human being. I've even been jammed with a needle much harder than called for because a nurse had an issue with people using methadone.
Anyway, I am now on my second year of living in Denver and still do not have a general practitioner. I really need to get started with one because my symptoms are getting worse and worse and I'm worried that it may have developed into cancer. Is there anyway you could share the doctor you found, Mac686, that is kind to people on methadone? I would really appreciate the help!! I also would like to start a website someday of a list of doctors that are comfortable with treating individuals on pain medications and will respect them as humans with medical needs. Not everyone is a drug seeking, inconsiderate junkie! And to those who do go out and shop around to doctors, you need to sit and realize how many lives you destroy, just so you can party and/or feed an addiction. Please stop so that people like Mac and everyone else who has posted here can get the treatment we deserve.
Tripsis 77 sorry Mac died awhile ago over a drug overdose but if u look back Thur tons of pages u will find alot of info Mac was a good person who helped out alot of us here it was sad to hear wat happen to him but welcome read and enjoy
