Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 214)
UpdatedI have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
I don't mind the UA's. But how often are they?
Do you have to go once a month or how often?
U go 1 time per month and Idk how many i think its either random or every time u go and in their contract it says that them may do a pill count but in by quit sure but hong is great he cares and listens he just dnt run in and out he takes his time and all his attention is on u
May I have the number to the doctor you are referring to?
Please share the number for the pain management doctor again. I couldn't see it. Thanks a lot! It can be a life saver for my fiance who suffers great pain and enable him to go back to work.
Charlotte K Gerber,
I don't know if you care, but I would consider using a made up name. Too many busy bodies on here for anyone's own good!
I have been in disabling pain for 15 years. My Dr recently decided he will no longer prescribe the meds he knows I need do to patients who are abusing meds. I would appreciate it if you list the name and location of your Dr. Thanks in advance

I've been here for years everyone knows me .Only way anyone getting meds if u pay for the doctor .From 150 to 260 per visit .
I'm in NC but am moving to Canon City, Co. I have the same problem at 43. My last Dr had a breakdown and quit and he had my MRI with him. Can't afford another one. Was on Percocet 7.5mg, 5 a day for 10 years. Insurance ran out. Only get them now when I end up in the ER. Been off of them regularly for almost 2 years and I can no longer live with the pain. Any advice for when I get to Canon City? Please help.
Almost everyone will tell u unless u pay out of pocket u won't get your meds .CPR is 200 now plus 18.50. for medicine delivery.Anyone u go to its gonna cost you. We're all on medicade, and it still cost .
Cc6...I feel ur pain. I believe we all do...this is no way to live!!

If you are pleading to us, the other people on this help site for pain medication, you are barking up the wrong tree! First, it is ILLEGAL and you should know better. Second, anyone on here that gets pain medication, needs their pain medication. They don't have any to spare. Please contact a doctor, good luck
The place you got the Copy of your MRI will give you another one if you just call and ask them to get you another one and/or the disposition of what the Dr. found on your MRI.
Charlotte Gerber...THERE IS NO LAW THAT SAYS YOU CANNOT BE ON PAIN MEDS AND MARIJUANA AT THE SAME TIME!!!! If you live in Colorado or have a medical marijuana card, you can still get your pain meds!!!!
Dr. Hong does BOTH! And, in no way does he condone anything illegal!!!!
PLUS THE CDC just came out with recommendations that doctors should NOT test for THC in UAs any longer because they've found in states where it is legal, there is a lower case of opiod overdose deaths!!!!
Damn I'm an Opioid Addiction Counselor in Eastern Tennessee, and I KNOW detectives look at these sites to ensure folks aren't buying/selling Rx meds illegally. Even FBI looks at these sites too.
Colorado Springs isn't too long a drive I can ask some friends down there. My PCP moved to Gunnison it's a 2 hour drive he treated me for a few years after a terrible experience with a pain management practice run my dr. Singleton. PCP is internal medicine doctor named Kenneth Anderson.nice young guy.
Thank you all for this great forum! I have moved to Colorado from Wisconsin for my husband's job and was climbing the walls trying to find a local pain management clinic to transfer my care to. My old pain clinic does not give referrals for any reason and I haven't yet established with a local primary care physician either. I saw Dr. Hong, as recommended on this board, and I absolutely love him. Very down to earth, upfront, caring, and considerate. I am in my late 30's, injured my back at the age of 20, haven't worked in almost 5 years due to my back injury, have had between 35-40 inj's. in my spine, done 5 or 6 courses of physical therapy, tried a spinal cord stimulator, etc, etc. I am willing to try anything if I have a chance of recovering some of my function and maybe the chance to return to work eventually. Dr. Hong reviewed my entire pain management record before seeing me. He was actively questioning me and listening based on the medical information he had. Heck, the fact that he took the time to read through the many pages of medical records prior to coming in to see me absolutely astounded me. Many doctors don't take the time to learn about their patients before seeing them. Dr. Hong took his time with me and I was an active participant in the conversation. I hate to pay out of pocket every month when I have 2 insurance companies, but I am going to keep working with him because he is the 1st doc in a long time who believes there is at least a chance of me recovering enough to regain some of the function I have lost. That belief gives me hope and hope is something I lost a long time ago. Dr. Hong is a very practical doctor and he is very up front too. Anyone not legitimately in pain shouldn't consider going here because you will be flushed out. I also LOVE that Dr. Hong is willing to allow medical marijuana to be used in conjunction with your treatment. My first appointment cost $290 plus $69 for the medical marijuana paperwork. The office will do all of the copies, money order, and certified mail for your medical marijuana license for an additional $40. I chose not to pay the additional $40. I wrote my own check for the $15 state fee and sent the paperwork by certified mail for less than $4. It was worth the $21 savings for me. I am actually optimistic about my future for the first time in probably over 10 years. I tried marijuana for the first time in my life About 3 weeks ago and it really did help a ton! I have never smoked anything and my first attempt at marijuana was a pre-rolled joint which promptly made me cough until I vomited all over my deck. It wasn't my finest moment and I am just glad no one else witnessed that failure. ;) I then tried premade edibles from the dispensary and I found my treatment method of choice. The only downside to the edibles is their cost. I finally found a machine that you can use to make canna-butter, canna-oil, and even tinctures. That is the most cost effective way I have found to keep myself comfortable.
If you haven't tried mmj, and your treatment plan allows it, it might be worth it to try.
Well that is enough rambling. I just wanted to thank you all so much for being so open and supportive on this thread. You all really helped me find a pain doctor who is truly trying to help patients. I am so grateful and hope to pass the help forward!
Jeff your very right. A lot of Doctors read on here to make sure their patients are not doing illegal stuff. Dr's read it every day. It all comes down to who can pay if u can get meds. If not you're s*** out of luck...
